I don't disagree with you.

I have never used Peloton but I did look into them before going with Apple Fitness. Peloton does look great, but, its far too overpriced. Their machines (the cycles, treadmills and rowers) are in their thousands of ££ and that's on top of the monthly subscriptions they want you to pay.

I would say Peloton seems to only appeal to those in the higher income brackets.
The 0% finance pricing is cheaper than any monthly fee spin studio I've ever been in (which admittedly probably cater to higher income brackets), and if you have a family, the bike subscription includes everyone. Originally, I thought they were too expensive, but after using one in a few hotels (great marketing on their part btw) I found them to be the closest thing to an at home spin studio. Luckily, I had already ordered ours right before the pandemic so it worked out.

My biggest worry with them is that Apple will snipe away the talent with money. I've become accustomed to the personalities I work out/ride with.

A bit out of the loop but is this just a bunch of videos you can watch? Does some workout videos justify paying the same per month as you would for Netflix or Disney+?

In the Mail+ rumor article someone mentioned Apple would just create a subscription for updates they would normally have given out for free, this seems like one of those things

What? This is the best response yet.

“some workout videos” - I take it you’ve not given it a try?

The comments on here are hilarious. Leave it to the Debbie Downers on Macrumors to nitpick at every little thing that might be wrong about this.

My whole family uses and loves Apple Fitness+. It's great. We don't need the level of detail people are complaining about here. This is great to get some time together staying active if we don't feel like going outside. Love how it syncs with the watch. For a 1.0 experience, it's pretty darn good.

Can anyone identify the brand of treadmill they are using in the pic? Is Apple secretly making exercise equipment that synchs better with Fitness+ and iPhone and Apple Watch? Mac built-in with monitor? or like Tesla, inflate the treadmill or bike tires to the desired level? Thoughts that make me say, Hmmm.
Pretty sure it’s this:

....that Peloton app is a little underwhelming.

I just looked up '30 minute HIIT' using the filter and it shows just FIVE different sessions?! That's not what I call value for money..!

This is good and I use the service regularly because it's "free" as part of what I'm already subscribed to. But Apple needs to up their game in terms of user experience. People want to list workouts by difficulty, they want to know if HIIT includes jumping or not, they want to know if strength workouts use heavy or not heavy dumbbells.
I hope once the workout total gets into the thousands, that'll be enough to start tagging them to make specific ones easier to find.

Excuse my phrasing, I know there is 300 of them, but are they not simply a camera filming someone working out? From what I can tell, the other features are on the Watch and is available without the videos (or at least should be)

And no Fitness+ hasn't launched where I live yet.

I'm curious why all workout videos have to have the hosts smiling all the time? Why not show reality: anguished groaning, grim determination, and constant wiping of sweat?

The problem with this service is that most people even remotely serious about fitness, have their own fitness routine, their own equipment or go to a gym and will be annoyed at the ridiculous scripts and smiles. This seems to be geared towards those who came up with getting in shape as their New Years Resolution and who will quit using it after two months.

I don't know if I'm remotely serious about fitness or not, but have always wanted to be better. I've had a gym membership for years, but the only time I got remotely fit was by taking small group personal training sessions on top of the gym membership. That was on the order of $150 more each month. I quit the class when my work schedule didn't match with the class schedule and lost motivation again. I'm just not the type of person that can get on a treadmill and do it myself for more than 5 minutes.

Fitness+ has been great for me. The instructors motivate me to keep going and they put together routines that I don't have the motivation to research and create for myself. It's like having the group class I had without the extra cost. In fact my gym (Lifetime Fitness) is including Fitness+ in their membership. I've done Treadmill, Rowing, Core, Strength and HIIT classes. I would like to see a strength class that uses the gym machines rather than just a few dumbbells, but I understand it's geared more for what people can do at home as well. I've actually been finding time to go to the gym a lot more frequently and am doing activity myself.

So this may not be for the serious athlete, but I do think it's great for someone who just needs some extra motivation and guidance to do things themselves. I closed my rings everyday for the last week....something I've never come close to doing before.

I don't get why this isn't available worldwide... is it because of the English language only? I'm pretty sure that anyone outside the UK or USA who has the means to pay for this is bilingual enough to do a workout... and if not they won't subscribe or go beyond the trial... don't get it.

I’m still looking for a treadmill, and the industry is driving me crazy. I’d love something like the Nordic track incline trainers but without having a massive control panel. I don’t need a screen or fans or all the extras that drive the price up. I just want a decent motor with sufficient incline and decline options.
I figure that decline option likely drives up cost? A 10mph and 10% incline variable treadmill works for myself, and I use a basic, LCD screen on a Nordictrack T series, then used either a TV, or iPad for the Fitness+ routines if I wanted some visual instruction.

300 Exercises an Excellent start!

really need to get back and start using this again. just going for an hours walk isn't enough really.

Any exercise, even for a few minutes a day leads to consistency and forms good habits. changing up which excercises are done each day not only gives you variety, but keeps your muscles and cardio vascular system always adapting and not get you into a plateau!

All good! Go at your pace is always the key!

Why are they always smiling in those videos?

Why not? Would you want to do any exercise with a trainer with sad or grumpy facial expressions? lol.

joking aside, a healthy body leads to a less stressed mind, and improved energy levels. This in turn helps your emotional state rise. Remember trainers, real hard core trainers, are in this because they absolutely LOVE what they do, and helping others reach their goals is part of what makes them feel good. (a large Apple cheque definitely helps as well as the publicity too).

A better way to sort / filter / discover those 300 workouts would go a long way. It’s starting to feel like wading through YouTube.

It’s an especially poor experience on Apple TV. There’s no way to expand workout details, so you can’t see critical info (like the weight of dumbbells you need). Filtering by equipment would be even better.

You also can’t access your ‘My Workouts’ from Apple TV. So far, I find the experience frustrating all-around.

^ THIS! This is probably THE BEST feedback that Apple really needs right now. Please please please submitt to Apple. These, honestly I feel is crucial. AppleFitness+ should be able to run and be used on Apple TV independently of Apple iOS/WatchOS/iPadOS products - not just to reach more users, but also as an interactive display.

I have mixed feelings about fitness +. I feel they could have done more with the watch integration other than just display your stats on the screen.

I think most of the criticisms I have read here are valid, especially in regards to search functions and the need for "stacking". As a brand new product for Apple, I think it's done very well. I'm enjoying the workouts (even when I want to slap them for their chipper demeanor) and I think it will get better and better. I ran into the pairing problems with the AppleTV, so Apple is lucky some of us will stick with it through some bugs. But I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops. I have found I like working out from home if I have something to follow along with.

true, I did manage to go walking each day but slowly went from doing nothing while being at home all day so getting no fitness at all. 3 miles a day walking hopefully should help lose some weight.

The promotional stills of those smiling/grinning people always give me the creeps. It's like the Joker dropped some venom in there.

Fills a void in exercise options. Not everyone enjoys taking vast amounts of time (intensity) going to the gym.The comment, Two months and done, happens all the time in gym memberships. Gyms stay afloat by following the Cable model. Lock you in for a year. Peloton really started something great and had great timing, COVID-19. Then we need to discuss the costs savings. The two of us, Gym $1,200 a year, Apple Fitness+ $120, and really no need for equipment. Dumbbells and a mat all that one needs. Time savings already noted. Wonderful world we live in, lots of options.

We have this but only my wife would use it and sadly there are zero pregnancy workouts on here so no use to her either at the moment, I thought they may have added some!

I did a HIIT workout with Bakari where Kim actually had to stop for a second to catch her breath. She was visibly winded and pushing herself, not smiling. I think they already do show reality, but the reality is that the trainers are in great shape and can usually do a hard workout without looking like they’re about to die.
