No way a 15", it would destroy MBP sales, they are already very close in spec.

I agree. A 15" MB would be bad business, IMO. I for one would consider buying a MB instead of a MBP, which they could then lose a grand on, easily.

We should riot if this is all going to lead up to a big let down where no updates will occur, I for 1 will be damn pissed

I would get used to that sort of thing around here... this is a rumor site after all. But my bet is that it all goes down on Wednesday.

whither mini?

i need a day-to-day system like a mini to handle my mundane tasks (and be able to handle other less savory tasks 24/6) so i can focus my mbpro on work and work-related activities

whither a mini?

Good plan :) And don't forget: be pissed at Apple, not the rumors or our own rumor-obession. A rumor is a PROMISE from Apple! And anything we don't see released this Tuesday can NEVER be released ever. This rumor makes this our last chance at whatever each of us may want :)

All signs point to an update tuesday morning, or at latest wednesday morning. (Yes, some updates have happened on wednesday. It really messes people up.)

Hmmm... It's starting to look like WWDC will be just software, and all apple hardware will be updated outside the event, starting now and stretching through June or July. We assumed that MacBook Pros will go first, but now it appears to be simultaneous updates for the MBs and MBPs.

Well, it looks like we'll see new MacBooks show up on Apple's online store at about 8:30 am ET on Tuesday morning. That must mean that the whining over how disappointing the update is will probably commence at just about 8:32 am then. :D

Any of you who follow the Intel roadmap know when a 4 core mobile will be available?

Not thinking of it for the Macbooks, but rather for the Pros...

Why? Because a rumor site gave you dodgy information?!

Where's the Mini update?

All this talk about Macbooks. Whatever happened to an update to the Mini? There hasn't been any rumor other than saying one is due. Maybe they're going to drop the Mini altogether.

Hahaha...

I just hope the subnotebooks will come out. Not that I would buy one, but rather because I want them to be at version 2 when Leopard comes out  .

i just bought a macbook, i still want the new ones to come out, if they really are all that i will sell this one and get a new one...

Seems to me the whining has started already...

New 13" MacBook white (spec boost, Santa Rosa, still integrated graphics but better than before)

New 13" MacBook black (higher model, better specs)

TWO new 15" MacBook Pros (with LED screens; two spec levels)

New 17" MacBook Pro (no LED)

This is the correct guess. MacBook is referring to both MacBook consumer and MacBook Pro. There's no reason there would be 5 MacBooks or that the consumer level product would be updated before the pro level product, bringing the consumer level product to a higher spec than the pro level product.

uuuuuhhhh Hi Steve!

I bet Mr. Steve Jobs is reading this forum right now.... and he is laughing his ass off at how we are reacting... Laughing all the way to the bank!

HI STEVE! Thanks for everything!

The Macbook refreshes will include both the Macbook Pro lineup as well as the Macbooks.

As of Spring 2007, the Macbook Pro line consists of three models: two fifteen inch (1999U$D, 2499 U$D respectively), and a single seventeen inch (2799U$D). No additional configurations will be added. In its stead, the two fifteen inches and the single seventeen inch models will be revamped to incorporate the Intel code-name "Santa Rosa" chip as well as new LED backlit display.

The Macbook line currently consists of three models, two white poly-carbonate models (1099U$D, 1299U$D respectively) and a single black matte model (1499U$D) Due to budget and cost restraints, the low-end model will not be refit with new LED backlighting. However it will employ the latest Intel codename "Santa Rosa" chip set. The other mid-range and high-end Macbook models will similarly utilise LED backlit display and Santa Rosa processors.

Do not expect major design revisions in this update, but do expect performance specification boosts, (e.g. hard-drive, ram, graphic processor). In an effort to distinguish our Macbook Pro line from the Macbook line, a bigger discrepancy is planned between the models.

While it is policy to not release a specific date when the update will be executed, expect in the near future a revision to the current line up.

I ordered a Macbook last Wednesday. It's been delayed and according to Apple's shipping info ( & Fedex - Rush Service) it is scheduled to arrive this Wednesday from Beijeng, CN. It sat all weekend at the FedEx depot in Beijeng and was released today. If it is the Macbook I ordered I will be happy, if it has an upgrade I will be thrilled. By the way I have ordered several computers from Apple, this is the first being sent from Beijeng, CN

same thing, i had overnight and it says it will get here wednesday.

Is it possible that the Macbooks will be in stores tomorrow? Or will we have to order them, and have them sent? I'm hoping for a revised MBP with < 3GB RAM...

Is this official or what?

Anyone else having problems with Apple's order status page? I have my fedex page but i can't load my order page at apple.com to check specs.

Oh wow, Noonster's post seems verrryyyy nice :D.

New poster/potential mac owner here, I have been waiting very patiently for this update, and I am really hoping that in 8 or so hours the new MBP hits the shelves!

I have a question for you seasoned veterans:

I am all too familiar with the crazy buying that goes on when apple releases new products, with things being in short supply and all (like the ipod mini, and people getting them with no choice of colour). Does this extend to things like this relatively minor tweaking of an already existing product? Canada has I think only 3 apple stores, all in Toronto, and I'm going to be in TO on the weekend, so would the stores still be in stock after a few days or will they be empty mere hours after store opening tomorrow?

Thanks!

(8AM get here pronto!!!!)
