I'm in the same situation and would appreciate help and experience of you guys.
I'm 39 years old, using windows for roundabout 25 years. Last couple of years mostly thinkpads (t14, t15 and smth like that) 4 month ago I decided that the time has come to try something new and ordered a macbook air m2 16/512.
First days with macOS we're pretty amazing, maybe because of rose-colored glasses that made me not seeing the flaws of macOS. But there is one serious issues that makes it barely unuseable.
1. Nearly 99% of use time I'm standing / sitting at my desk using external display(s), not really using the built in screen. Maybe 30 minutes per week I'm using my laptop as a mobile.
Never had issues with any of my external displays using windows. I was really disappointed about the compatibility with macOS: flickering and blurry dock texts at 1080p displays, weird scaling at 4k displays.
Only display which works well is my main external display which I use at work (dell 2k usb-c)
I understand that this is caused by the m1 / m2 chips that seem to have issues with some external displays, but I cannot accept to be forced to buy more expensive displays to make it work with the MacBook.
So I gave the MacBook Air to a workmate and got back to my lenovo thinkpad t15. I'm getting my work done faster than on macOS but on the other side I'm a very into aesthetics and find windows very ugly comparing to macOS.
I'm also a lifetime iPhone user, tried 3-4 android devices over the last 15 years but couldn't stand the OSdesign so I switched back to iPhone after some days or weeks.
So in my case the issue is as follows:
1: rationally: There is no need to get another MacBook. I hardly won't find any use case where it will provide advantages over using windows. Also Mac is more expensive (what isn't really an issue as my employer pays for the equipment)
2. emotionally / visual: I just don't like the look of windows. Also windows is stressing me more than macos. (Think this is caused by some bad projects with my last employer which ended in a burnout / fatigue syndrome.
So my brain associates windows with stress. Don't know if this is a real issue or a strawman argument.
