Oh, but wait, you're forgetting that a 2 GHz G5 machine MUST be slower than a 3 GHz Athlon machine just because the numbers are smaller....

OK I'm going to start again with folding. I had an old account with only a few points but that run the graphical client, and it was before I knew MacRumors had a team.

So I'm adding
- G3 333MHz folding 24hrs/day
- PowerBook G4 folding when on power supply.

I'm not going to add the PC's because they are running United Devices at the moment.

Is there a way to download a lot of work-units (I think the answer is going to be no) reason being the G3 isn't on the network so needs to be hooked up everytime a WU finishes.

I'm new to the team, so be nice :)

edit: It's not working properly. I downloaded the text client but it's using my old account. I have changed the account details in the Graphical client (new name and team number). Will this work?

The answer is un-fortunally no.

And why don't you get mc68k's scripts?

They seem to work for me... execpt that it doesn't auto-load on reboot. (Gotta get on that man, we have told you about that... )

not sure if its in the FAQ, but

to change the username and team I think you put a -config after the executable.

just checked... Im right

type in

./OSX-3.25 -config

and it should show you your old username and team and let you change them.

If I remember correctly you have a Dual processor machine, I have a single, I rememember someone else with the 'no load on boot' issue.

I forget the command to see boot on load-up, but atleast I have to do it over sometime.

Just out of interest, what's happened to our team membership within the past week? We seem to have added about 30-odd new members. With a bit of luck, this will help up to break that 50k a week barrier!

Well I've only just joined, and as soon as my AE base station arrives I'll have a G3 folding 24/7 and my G4 PowerBook when I'm on charger. But I don't know where everyone else came from suddenly, maybe because it was on front page?

Every little helps!

Heh. I rarely check out the front page, so i never saw that. Good on arn for putting it there. We need all the members we can get, especially if our top folders are dropping off.

Well, since I've been keeping track of it - we seem to be getting quite a few new members, but the active members are still staying around a little over 100. I started watching this when we have 320 or so members. Now we have over 400 and we've not retained any more.

I think that would be the thing to work on as well.

i wouldnt worry about it, all of our machines are running, plus like 6 more p4 2.2s i added today

theyll come around

The fluctuations you're seeing in the stats may be a problem with the stats server at Stanford. It's been acting weird the last couple of days. Often, when I check my stats or the team stats, Stanford's server just brings up the message "Can't connect to the stats database".

Today, we're looking pretty good on extremeoverclocking's site. Should be back over 7K for the day.

well, all my comps are on and running... but ive only made 9 or so points in the last 9 hours.

very wierd, and depressing. I WAS on target to pass Rower this month, maybe next month when i get this all sorted out ;).

have you figured out what's going on? This seems so strange.....

Also - we've got 48k points now, so maybe by the end of today or tomorrow we might end up over 50k......and when all these new members start producing, well, we might even be able to go farther.

found the problem, the building was converted to 100Mbit wall connections from 10Mbits. Most comps didn't like the change without a reboot. Also, some of the network cables couldn't handle the faster speed... :(

should be back around 1k any day now.
