New Feature for 2.0.2 Mark Message as Unread

Don't think that this option was there before the 2.0.2 update. But now when viewing an email message there is a blue dot to click to mark the message unread.

My phone works fine with 2.0 and due to problems that I am hearing I don't plan to upgrade to 2.01 or 2.02 or 2.0x.

When 2.1 comes out and I update the phone

Same here. I have had my 3G phone for about 3 weeks now, and I have never hooked it to my computer. Firmware 2.0 has caused me zero problems, and under the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," I have not updated my phone BECAUSE it has given me zero problems ... meanwhile, I'm hearing all of these people who have updated complaining about their phones. My phone has NEVER frozen. Do I have the slight time lag in some functions from time to time? Yes; therefore my phone is not perfect. But it has never frozen on me. I honestly feel that downloading Apps from the App store complicates the OS and causes problems. The people on this website that seem to be problem free are people that have very few Apps on their phone, and the people that report the phone freezing several times a day are the people that have "like 70 Apps." I'll be waiting to read everyone's feedback after the 2.1 update, before I take the big step. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." :)

So true.

When I restore, I get amazing performance and almost no lag.

But I've noticed that as soon as I put super monkey ball on, everything slows down and stuff.

if you haven't had problems you'll prob be ok with 2.0.2 but i understand why you're hesitant to upgrade. my phone has been great and i have over 40 apps installed. backups are 5-10min (they use to take literally 2 hours till i did a clean restore)

it's possible "particular" apps are the cause for many users but i've bought and installed the "popular" top apps (monkey ball, texas hold em etc) that alot of users have.

the last 2 bugfix updates, i've been hesitant. i kept thinking "what if it screws up my perfectly good phone". so i totally understand where your coming from. most of the people in these threads already had problems pre-patch so that's the reason i took the plunge. also i'm an "update" freak. have to have the latest drivers, bios blah blah blah :p

Once again wildly different experiences...simply can't make any concrete conclusions based on feedback here. People are all over the board.

Sure we can. According to all the experts, NO ONE got any benefits out of this update. It didn't do a thing.

Sorry, but the SMS lag is *not* gone. You're experiencing the result of the phone having been reset and rebooted during the update. You could accomplish the same thing by rebooting it in 2.0.1 or 2.0.0. After a few minutes or hours the lag is back. I installed 2.0.2 this morning and the phone was responsive for an hour or so, but now it's the same as before... bring up contacts and the screen freezes for 2-3 seconds... bring up SMS and the keys lag horribly... switch to landscape mode in Safari and watch the choppy and laggy transition...

Okay, whatever you say *hotshot.*

Oh, by the way, the lagginess was there both times I restored my phone under 2.0.1. But you apparently know my experiences *better* than I do.

I have seen a clear improvement in battery life.
I got to the evening with +30% battery life left.

I cannot post a image today because I had to restart the phone, and therefore the usage meter was reset. I will tomorrow, however.

I updated to 2.0.2 this morning and decided to wait until I had a chance to use the phone for a day before posting my experience

- UI: definitely faster and more responsive
- Keyboard Lag: gone
- Contacts: come up almost instantly (less than 1 sec delay)
- Bluetooth echo when connected to the car: still there
- Battery life: still dismal
- 3G: never had a problem; still great.

I haven't really noticed any difference. My main problem with my iPhone right now is that Safari crashes alot. I'm not sure what could be causing this. I'll just be browsing a random webpage and Safari just closes and sends me back to the home screen. Maybe the next update will help.

Not a damn thing. I think I dropped 5 calls today alone! Yah!
I just noticed that none of my songs/playlists, movies and podcasts were there:p
now its Restoring again for the fifth time :p
Seriously this started late 11pm last night.
Left it going all night then found it this morning needing to install again (for the third time).
As Im writing this its trying to Restore again.
Maybe this time itll put my tunes back?

No difference in reception THE BIGGEST CONCERN

I just finished updating to 2.02. The update went flawless unlike 2.01 with the constant errors while upgrading. I will say, this recent update has done NOTHING to fix the dismal reception with 3G. My wife has a Pantech DUO with AT&T. In my house she has 5 full bars of 3G signal, I have 1 to 2 bars. Her calls are crystal clear, mine are staticy and choppy. I think a product recall is in order here. IF this was apples fix to address this bug amongst others it did not work. Software cannot always remedy a problem expecially if it is a hardware based issue. I mean first an foremost this is a PHONE, then a gadget. If the reception is subpar to other 3G phones on the same network then Apple is missing the mark. If this continues they will be alienating their current consumer base and driving off future customers. APPLE DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPLACE THESE FAULTY UNITS!

I have had my 3g iphone since the day they went on sale. I have had about 5 dropped calls over that time (not great, but not too bad). My 3g connection has otherwise been pretty good...until I "upgraded" to 2.02. Now my 3g connection drops to Edge randomly (I live and work in a 3g area and have -- or at least had -- pretty good signals in both areas). I cannot even get the inetwork test app to run. All new issues after updating to 2.02. I am trying a restore to see if that helps.

There's no question 2.0.2 did nothing to address reception. I have just as many calls and dead connections in Safari today as I usually have (which is not good).

I'm optomistic that IF this can be solved via a software fix, Apple will do so. What bothers me is I'm not certain that anything short of a new 3G chip design will solve these issues.

I think GPS does lock a little quicker. 3G seems fine contrary to most. Applications don't crash that often I guess.

Overall just hype really.

For those who complain: Why even own an iPhone if you're going to complain about every single update. Clearly there were things fixed with this update, just because you can't find them, doesn't mean anything. Wait a week, if you're phone seems more stable, then that was probably the update. If not, clearly you're doing something stupid on your phone to make things act up. Just my opinion.

Dumbest. Statement. Ever.

Seconded. Just about everyone who is experiencing issues are merely performing functions the iPhone was created and advertised to do. I've had apps crash on me while typing text, browsing my mail -- this has happened both in native and 3rd party apps. By your logic I should just leave the phone off and not even touch it.

Anyway, I haven't noticed any discernible difference since upgrading other than Contacts being more responsive (no more lag). Unfortunately I still get 1 to 2 bars for 3G at my place in Chicago. Even near a first story window.

In the day in a half since I upgraded to 2.0.2 (which was a story in itself!!!), here is what I noticed:

Contact Lag - the same
Keyboard Lag - still there, noticed it in the mail app today.
Safari Crashing - the same (still crashes more in landscape mode, better in portrait).
3G - no dropped calls (haven't had that issue since 2.0.1), BUT when I went to 2.0.1, I could not get the internet with 3G only on Edge. Now, I can get the internet but I think it seems to still take longer than 2.0 did. But at least it works.
App Crashing - none so far.
GPS - seems to lock on quicker now.

I will keep my fingers crossed for 2.1 to be the savior.

So I had problems trying to download and install the 2.02 yesterday but after reading some posts I'm kidna hesitant to go through with it. I'm getting mixed feelings and outcomes across the board.

Should I take the time to do it or not?
