I don't know that this is true. I went over my 5gb cap just yesterday and received a text I'd be throttled.
Perhaps you were on congested towers during peak times?

How do you sell on Amazon?
How do we know if this is network/tower congestion or if someone is actually being throttled? "Throttled" download speeds used to peak around .50 Mbps down. Screenshot shows a download of over 1 Mbps. I wonder if AT&T changed the speeds that we are throttled down to?.... Or if this is just network congestion on a particular tower? Not to stray off topic here but those speeds leave me in the dust, check this out. I just ran this test. I know 16% battery.![]()

You better call them they took you off unlimited, once it's off its literally impossible to get back on because theyou have No way to add it ,its not an option in their systemI'm on the UDP, but confused if they kept me on it. Ordered a 64Gb and Selected the 2 year plan. My confirmation doesn't show the Data amount, and it says Remove: iPhone Message 200. It also said after checkout that it would add my devices and convert to a Mobile Shared plan.
I did trial runs and there was never any option to select anything, except the 2 year plan which I did. The only option for text messages was for Internstional texting.
Anyone run into this too? The order went through right away. With a $45 upgrade fee. But no monthly payment listed. Thanks!

I ordered a new iPhone 6S + through Apple Store and still have my Unlimited Data. Also used upgrade from ATT Next. Are any of you tempted by the Apple Next plan that includes the Apple Care Plus? Would this be a deal worth considering? Can you keep your grandfathered data plan this way and just pay at&t month to month? Does that work that way?
After you ordered did your monthly att bill change any in comparison to your last 2 year contract.I ordered a new iPhone 6S + through Apple Store and still have my Unlimited Data. Also used upgrade from ATT Next.
Bill did not change for me.After you ordered did your monthly att bill change any in comparison to your last 2 year contract.
I'm curious to know because to me this new way of doing things will be costing way more vs just paying 199/299/399 2 year contract.
You would think not having a subsidized phone they would reduce the bill 15-20 bucks being that with subsidies they were actually including the cost of the phone. Oh well good to Know. ThanksBill did not change for me.
Call retentions back asap. Tell them they cancelled your unlimited plan out by mistake when you ordered yor new phone...they have up to 60 days to restore the old unlimited data plan.i know this for sure cuz a new agent cancelled 2 of my udp lines and switched me to mobile share. About a year ago...i got it back within like 2 days....back office may have to do it. ...if it were me i wouldnt say u selected a 2 year plan online or anything like that....just say ive had unlimited data for many years and im never gonna cancel it... and every time ive upgraded my phones it has never been removed from my acct.please restore my udp asapI'm on the UDP, but confused if they kept me on it. No they just send that out any time you pass 5gb
I totally agree with this comment. I think they are just telling people that so they will be more aware and cautious of how much data they are using. In reality, no one is being throttled. Heck, if you are on a "congested" tower, your speeds will be reduced by default anyway due to the number of people connected to the tower. Really no reason for AT&T to throttle your speeds.... A congested tower will reduce your speeds by default.Just a scare tactic to get people to use wifi.
I purchased a Silver 6s+ at full price. Both Apple & AT&T have assured me that my unlimited data plan will continue in force.
I don't see why the Apple upgrade plan would be any different.
Hi all. I've been reading several articles and looking at the Apple site, the Apple Store app, and the AT&T site. I also called Apple and AT&T tonight - but I have no clear answer to this question:
How can I buy a 6S, pay full price, and keep my unlimited data plan? I am eligible for an upgrade.
I don't think I can do it through Apple, as on the Apple Store app I am forced to choose a "Next" plan and F that. I don't think I can do it through AT&T, because I presume my only option will be to purchase a subsidized phone WITH a 2-year contract and I'm not interested in the 2-year contract anymore.
Is anyone else in this situation? Can anyone provide me with some insight?
No they just send that out any time you pass 5gb
Their behavior for unlimited data is equivalent to the 5gb plan on T-Mobile if T-Mobile disabled the following features:
No data rollover (high speed lte bytes)
No tethering
No wifi calling (I have yet to see it)
Think about that. A little 5gb plan on T-Mobile.
There is no extra $15 or $20 fee to use an upgrade if you are on the unlimited plan. Don't listen to posters here they don't always know what they are talking about. Same with the AT&T representatives. But there is no extra fee. If you'd rather pay the extra fee to Apple and not have a contract that's certainly your choice. Will help you if you'd like to switch carriers later.
Are you on an unlimited plan? If so then the "Mobile Share Value discount" does not apply to you. My message was specifically related to the unlimited plan, so if you are on another plan there may be a change in price depending on whether you have a phone on contract or not.Maybe I am reading it wrong, but It sounded to me like I was going to lose the discount if I upgraded to another 2 year contract. This quote is from AT&T.
"Savings is for service only and is an estimate. Devices sold separately. Excludes taxes, fees, features, and other monthly charges. This discounted pricing is available as long as you keep your phone. If you upgrade to a 2-year wireless contract, you will lose the Mobile Share Value discount of $15/mo. or $25/mo. To receive the discount, upgrade with AT&T NextSM, pay full price for a new smartphone, or bring your own smartphone".
