In fact, iPads are looking more and more like Surface tablets. Keyboards with trackpad and stand, stylus (sorry, "pencil"), cursor and mouse support in ipadOS. Microsoft was just coming from the other direction.
The great thing about the PC ecosystem is that you have a choice. You can get a traditional laptop, an convertible, a laptop with detachable screen, or a tablet with attachable keyboard. And the pen support in Windows 10 has become very good (I use it often for freehand drawing during remote meetings on my company laptop).
Sure, you've got choice. My question continues to be - why hasn't that choice been adopted at mass? If you want a great PC or a Laptop - you still need to buy a dedicated one. If you want a great tablet, you get an iPad (pro). Buying a 2-in-1 just gives you a mediocre result, or fills a niche, at best. Vs, the iPhone / iPad - which despite popular opinion - were just unequivocally better.
and is it not true for the last 2-3 years, all Apple have been doing with the iPad is to try and turn it into a 2-in-1
Uhm... I wouldn't say that "all Apple [has] been doing" is turning the iPad into a 2-in-1. That's just you. Out of the box, an iPad (pro) is still only a tablet. The keyboard mount is an *expensive* extra. And an M1 Apple laptop does not have a touch screen, let alone, foldover to become a 13" iPad. In software, slightly, Apple is opening things up. They are adding
elements of 2-in-1's to both their iPad and Mac laptops. But, Apple is not making 2-in-1's ... IMO.
So back to the OP's post
"Can anyone really say this advertisement is wrong?" i.e. are 2-in-1's, otherwise, worse?
"Because it's not. It's 100% accurate. Regardless of the actor." i.e. No. 2-in-1's are universally better. Period.
"Anyone that's using Mac knows this is accurate." i.e. DONGLES, accessories, limitations, choices made "FOR" you, etc
"You don't need 56 accessories to use a 2 in 1 laptop." i.e. more proof 2-in-1's are universally better
"Fact." -- OK, why hasn't the MS Surface Pro or 2-in-1's as a market whole replaced the iPad (pro) or, at least, taken 20, 30, 50%, or more of its market share? (You've had 10 years, now...)
Features *OF* a 2-in-1 are beneficial - but based on nearly a decade of sales I really don't think you can make such unequivocal statements as: This Intel commercial is "100% accurate". Both the iPad Pro w/ Magic Keyboard (a faux 2-in-1) and true actual 2-in-1's are both niche products for a niche audience. The laptop of a 2-in-1 being the mass market item, just as much as, the iPad Pro is the mass market item compared to the niche utility of the Magic Keyboard.
But, in response to your input / quote: I'd ask you, why is Apple's last 2-3 years of locked down, limited, controlled, 2-in-1 efforts more well received then the last 10 years of unlocked, unrestricted, complete freedom of choice offered the Surface Pro and Laptop 2-in-1s?
