Then I think you have actually proved my point! If you have 6000 employees with HP WORKSTATION LAPTOP. That is a contradiction in terms to start with! Sack your procurement guy as they obviously haven't got a clue!
I really wonder why these people keeps obsessed by fanboyism, as if they benefit from it, and as if there is nothing to hold on in life, must be some gene defect dragged over since stone age, wohhh my cave rules.

Apple was "tiny and unknown" ten years ago? Seriously?
2006…
So, 15 years ago.
And yeah. iPhone didn’t exist. There was no “halo” effect product. PC had over 90% market share, & outside of their music player offerings their computer offerings were largely “tiny and unknown”.

I didn't have to watch this video and already knew touch screen on laptop is useless.
Yeah it's useless because you say so, sure... millions of manufactured TouchScreen Laptops gets trashed yearly, because not a single one was ever sold, they are soooo useless. You should call these manufacturers, and give them a hint. Btw. ask for a controller job, might make you a millionaire.

There are many USB C/4/Thunderbolt 3/4 docks out there that do very well. The prices have come down quite a bit and they make it much nicer to connect a laptop with a single cable.
They rarely have additional USB-C ports. One or two at most, and restrictions apply on them. Adding an HDMI port to the MBP doesn't mean losing a potential USB-C port or two. There's some non-space-related limitation on how many USB-C ports a computer can have, and it's annoying. A single machine can support more USB-A ports than you'll ever need.

The only way to get people to move to USB-C/USB-4/Thunderbolt 3, is to make it the only option on machines. Otherwise, we will be using the million flavors of USB A, B, Mini, Micro, 3.1, mini-3.1, micro-3.1, etc. forever. It took years for PC vendors to stop shipping PS/2 keyboards and mice.
If it's better, they will switch. PS/2 lived a long time, but the majority of mice were on USB-A during that time.
My external disk drives are all either USB-C or Thunderbolt 3. I have an LG monitor that is USB-C (and one that is Thunderbolt 3).
Those are expensive.

Given a choice between having 4 USB-4/Thunderbolt 3 ports with two buses and 2 of them (with one buss) and some USB-A, HDMI, SD-Card reader, and an Ethernet port, I would rather have the former. I can carry one dock and have everything that I am giving up, where as in the later case, there is just no way to get the missing ports or buss. As for iPads, I stopped carrying my MacBook Pro years ago and now use my iPad for portable use and my Mac Desktop with a few extra large displays for fixed use.
By the sound of it, you spend a lot more money on electronics than most people do. I'm guessing you also have use cases that most people don't have. Needing one TB port is rare, let alone 4 of them. USB 3.1 has more than enough bandwidth for most people's peripherals.

The Mac has always been somewhat overbuilt, which is nice. But its benefits aren't limited to demanding use cases. On laptops, just the build quality (kb, trackpad, etc) is far superior to others, and we all know how much nicer macOS is than Windows if you aren't just playing games on it. Most Mac users are here for those things, not 40gbit buses.

ok but lets be real; the dongle joke is pretty solid.

It's actually dead on. $500 Lenovo Yoga 6 has USB-C and USB-A on each side so four ports, 360 degree hinge for tablet mode, pen input and has AMD Ryzen 4650U which runs fanless under normal load and without losing x86-64 compatibility. If it wasn't for Chrome availability on M1 it isn't even good as an overpriced Chromebook.

I wouldn’t say Intel is better than M1. But I would prefer a Windows laptop over a Mac as it stands. Not because the M1 doesn’t perform well, but because of the little things that handicap the potential of Macs that Windows laptops cover well.

idgaf if Justin Long flip flops between companies. He’s doing his job, not choosing a side and even if he was, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Choose a Mac or choose a Windows machine. You’re good. Intel, on the other hand, needs to really focus on delivering better products before they become the Blackberry of silicon.

No, of course not, and nothing I said suggests otherwise.
Well then would he be loyal if he didn't take this Intel job? I doubt he was ever loyal to Apple to begin with, nor would any actor be who's just being paid to do ads. Even the most reputable TV salesman, Billy Mays, seemed to just sell whatever.

Yeah but it runs Windows 🤮
Also nobody needs x86 compatibility beyond what Rosetta offers.

Well after reading this I didn't have to watch the TV ad. I just saw it in this post. SMH. 🙄

Had this been Apple who created an ad using one of their competitor’s actors to side with them then people here would trash Apple AND trash the actor. Don’t lie.
Yup and my point still stands, which is why trash people trying to make a living.

LMAO ask yourself that same question when people right on this forum trash Apple executives like Tim Cook, Eddy Cue and Phil Schiller. They are people just trying to make a living and feeding their families. J-Long has millions of dollars. Stop trying to downplay him as if he's some poor out of work bum that needed a job. 🙄

How stupid is it to refer to his previous Apple ads right at the beginning? It just says „Don‘t trust me, I don‘t care about the product, I just go with who pays the most“.
Pure marketing, every company did stupid Ads, starting with superficial comparison of devices.
Like the Mac Guy PC Guy, it was funny to watch, but content wise just stupid.
As the "MS - I'm a PC" Ads.

Almost any Ad is stupid.
I go that far and say, if you need a stupid penetrant Ad, the product must suck.

This one fits more to a macOS now a days, BigSur keeps asking me for ALLOW:

Does that mean, that Vista was far ahead in the timeline, just a futuristic OS? :D

I challenge someone to tell me which movie he (Justin Long) had starred, and when it was his last biggest cinema blockbuster in US? He hasn't been relevant in Hollywood for years. I do think that he needed that money...

Its a bicycle (thing with 2 wheels leaning on wall)
its a vehicle (handed map app)
its a budget item (handed monthly bike keep fees)
its a police magnet (handed laws of the road brochure)
its a ER visit (handed helmet)
its a court date (handed law suit)
its jail time! (handed sentence)
cue lame xylophone music fading out.

what does this mean?

A "repulsive" ad...dear me my friend, you certainly have things out of proportion; they are not attacking your religion or killing puppies; it's a light-hearted dig!
Let us be clear. They are killing puppies. They are just doing it off screen.
No one seem to be to worried when Apple did the "Apple v PC" ad at the M1 keynote [in case you had forgotton in your rage, only a few months ago, not 10 years ago]; they even used John Hodgman to play "pc guy."
Not concerned about this ad, but I do not think it does much other than get some response in the tech press. If they really took a jab at what he had said and had him call it out, at least it would be somewhat more interesting/clever.

Actually, it's flexible. It can bare metal Windows, Linux, BSD, hackintosh, ChromeOS, etc. M1 is limited to just MacOS.

I agree the reuse of this actor for an ad going against former face of a ad campaign fools only the young and inexperienced. Anyone else sees through the marketing. So in that sense it's probably not the best marketing choice other than to get a chuckle out of someone old enough to have watched these back in the day. Basically anyone that was an adult in that period, lol. But he's an actor. That's it. It's silly to think he flipped or flopped. Paid gig.

The industry is full of stupid Ads, sadly many people gets emotionally attached to these things, and influenced.
Corona is harming me, I watch stuff I never wanted to watch...

I never saw people doing this after having a coke, do this and i give you 15min till you get dragged out to the next madhouse:

Same here -> madhouse:

You think they are stupid and I think they are pretty cool.

You do not live in LA or New York. This happens all the time.

I just watched this happen in DTLA this morning.

He probably does care at all for who he act, as long they payment is fine, and does not include any ethical questionable stuff.
Why should he be emotionally attached to Apple?
And if he needed the money, whats the problem?
You don't need money? Woke up rich?
