There are tons of parents out there looking for good childrens content. Point is there are lots of families with kids, you were one once too.
I didn't have the wealth of choice kids have now, but I digress. I don't mind ATV+ having kids shows, but I'd like to see more stuff that isn't for kids. Not violent, necessarily, but I'm a big fan of shows like Treadstone, conspiracy thrillers, noir and neo-noir, murder mysteries, and science fiction like The Expanse (here's hoping Foundation is good).

People seem to be missing the fact that WE'VE BEEN IN A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. How do you make new shows when people can't even be in the same room without wearing masks?

The reason Apple is extending the free trial period is because they need time for the shows they've purchased to actually produce content. If there weren't a global pandemic, we'd be seeing a very different picture right now of Apple TV+.

There are production houses still working, churning out shows. It’s not impossible if they implement proper testing and protocols for each person involved.

Funny dig from a company that “only” does streaming videos. Written another way, Netflix sure sucks at making world class computers, tablets, phones, watches, operating systems, applications, etc.

I like what Apple has done so far. Are they my only streaming service? Heck no. But for free so far, they have some really fine shows. If you strip away the fodder from Netflix and Prime, I’m not sure they compare highly either.

I get Netflix free thru T-Mobile. I can't wait to cancel my free 1-year Apple TV+ subscription. There just hasn't been a compelling show to watch since I started it.

Doesn't waste your breath here with facts. What I've noticed here is there are people planted to write negatives about AppleTV+ because they don't reply to anyone who rebuttals their posts. No doubt they are planted here by an Apple competitor and are told to post a one-liner of hate towards the AppleTV+ service, leave and not to respond to rebuttals.

The fact that he feels compelled to comment on Apple TV+ speaks volumes about Apple's success.

I believe that Apple has a long term strategy. It’s obviously a lost leader for them right now. As they produce original and acquire more content producers the catalog will expand.

Netflix original content is 90% garbage. They green light anything it seems. Back to the South Park episode which was right on target.

Phone call “This is Netflix you’re green lit what can we do for you?”

Cartman “we have a great idea for a show”

Netflix “Do you want a pilot or go straight into a 6 episode series??!”

With Netflix losing a lot of content because every channel and content provider breaking off to do their own service it’s going to get expensive again though.

I am subscribed to Apple TV+ and Disney+. I just renewed Disney+ (for a full year) and I will renew Apple TV+ (for a full year) when renewal time rolls around.

I am NOT currently subscribed to Netflix. I will subscribe again in a few months but for only 1-2 months at a time. I consume what I want and then unsubscribe for 3-6 months.

Netflix is WAY overpriced for access to 4K content. They make 4K a profit center. Apple TV+ and Disney+ provide 4K as part of the standard subscription. Screw Netflix!

I'm currently watching Ted Lasso that everyone's raving about and I don't think it's that good

It’s a feel good show. Something we need nowadays. Not too serious or with political overtones. It’s a solid show. But to each their own.

Two or three of the Apple TV+ shows are pretty good. I’m a free subscriber. But I’ve been a Netflix subscriber for 20 years. Literally. Apple seems to be spending a lot of $ but not really knowing what they’re doing. Netflix is just good at what they do.

Neither does the CEO of Netflix ... at least for sure. He may, however, have paid analytics firms that do studies to try to determine the churn rate of Apple TV+ subscribers. The accuracy of such studies may or may not be all that high.

There is inferential data, which is where he is probably getting his numbers. I probably wouldn’t worry too much about it though. If Apple was bothered, they would release their numbers to prove wrong

Netflix has a ton of analytics on its returning viewers. It’s clear that many in this thread are not its target audience

Have you given The Morning Show or Defending Jacob a chance?
I like Ted Lasso, it grew on me after about 3 episodes but I also liked Scrubs a lot (can smell the similarities of them both, spirit-wise).

The two I mention, them being 100 times more serious in tone, might be more globally appealing and Netflix/Amazon hits like.

One leg more like it.. lol

Ya, your right... A year long free service is just about getting customers, but it works... Aren't more people joining Apple TV+ because its non-paid at the moment when you get an eligible device? Most likely that will be favored to the AppleTV where most content would be watched, so i guess it would be kinda a tease.

Apple TV really is the worst. Netflix is top dog. Netflix has so much stuff I want to watch in my list. There is always something new to check out. Despite having to now move to their 4K option and despite the price hikes…it’s still totally worth it for me.

Only really Disney has a chance in the future to match them. Of course Disney has the benefit of having decades worth of content to upload. I’ve only used Disney a few times to watch Star Wars and Toy Story/Frozen. It’s not something I would yet pay for month after month but I ain’t the biggest Disney fan and don’t have kids. It’s more of just subscribe for a month and cancel.

I got Apple TV with my new 12 Pro Max but nothing in the catalog interested me. Like nothing even that caught my eye to maybe check out. I hope Apple can turn it around though.

Apple's catalog is their iTunes content that users pay to own.
Doesn’t work like that. They can rent/sell it but not stream it. They’d need to make a new deal with all the movie companies if they wanted to put those movies up for streaming.

If that’s what you want Apple to do then Google/Amazon should put up their entire movie/tv show catalog to YouTube Premium/Prime too. Apple still wouldn’t be the best option out there.
