Forums Upgraded to VB 3.5

Aahh.. so that's a Safari thing. Not a VB problem, then?
It used to be... and still is. :)

This post is written in Firefox 1.5 beta 2, and if I mark a word and press e.g. the B, I or URL it wraps the marked text with those tags. Quite handy.

Emoticons are also inserted wherever the cursor is set, not at the end...

Safari is going to have a run for it's money when the final release of Firefox 1.5 is out. As of now it's just AcidSearch, spell checker and the RSS handling that keeps me with Safari... and Adblock is calling me... :D

And since Apple don't look kindly on their employees frequenting forums, will it ever be fixed

EDIT: And yes, I know they probably don't care if they post on BassFishingForums.com - and I do like the new edit tool! :D

So why not nip over to the forums at the Apple site and tell them...?

Besides, if your actually thinking as you are typing it's really not at all difficult to add the tags as you go...

Just me on that one probably.;)

Not that difficult, but a minor annoyance, especially when answering post, like now, when the 'I' tag I inserted to wrap around 'that' was inserted on the line under where I was because an extra line is always inserted when you're quoting others.

Also there is occasions when you see the need for going back and emphasizing a word, or insert a link when editing, or whatever... ;)

Hold on. Now in Safari I can't even post a link like http://www.bbc.co.uk/ without it placing the URL in the text... :(

It used to be that you had two pop-up boxes, one first for the URL and another one for the text that you want it to display.

What will iGav do without his patented Rinky Dink Link?

Not very cool at all.

I noticed that too. Of course you can just edit the tagged link to show the text you want, but it's just another little hassle.

Well you can but it's a little more work since you have to go back and type over the URL with the rinky dink link. I suspect it's going to be quicker (in Safari) to just type the [whatever] commands as we go.

Think as you post? What a radical thought... the forums would be decimated! :p

Okay, that sucks. Any way of bringing that back? Manually typing the URL data in is not very fun. :(

This is annoying in Safari. I think I may have to download the latest firefox and give it a whirl again.

edit: the inline editing is very cool, and indeed works in Safari.

I like it the way it is set up now. Sometimes I have a URL in the clipboard and when presented with the link title pop-up, I alway have to dismiss it, otherwise I am forced to fill in something. Then the next pop-up appears where I can paste in the url.

The same can be accomplished now just by selecting the link title and pasting in a new description.

Actually, you may be right there. That sort of messing about rings a bell.

I've discovered something else that's pretty nice. Do an 'Advanced Search' on a poster's name... :)

YESSSS!!!!

I just noticed the new edit-in-post function, and I also noticed:

special icon that lets you know you've replied in the thread!

My favorite feature by far.

Thanks Arn!! I love you...marry me? :)

Looks good, no major changes. I think the favicon is different, but I'm not sure if there was an MR favicon or just a different VB one. Some of the buttons are a little different, but it's a welcome change.

I like.

Wow I just 'got' the edit in-line thing-- I've edited a couple times this morning w/out the change and just got it in another thread. So neat! :D Yay! Thanks Arn and other mods!

Another possibly Safari-related problem.

I have PM alerts enabled as pop-ups so that I don't miss one... just received a PM with a read receipt that took about a dozen or more clicks to get rid of the dialogue box. Anyone else?

Hmmm... aren't the style tags meant to wrap themselves around a word instead of just placing a set of adjacent tags that are empty to the right of the cursor, or in some cases irritatingly at the end of the text?
Are you using Safari? It seems to be a quirk in the way it does scripting, there is a similar problem with the formatting toolbar in Blogger.
