I just noticed that when I edited one of my posts, it didn't tag it with a "last edited" line. Yes, the thread had been viewed since I made my post, so that wasn't it. Just thought it was interesting.

Actually, Lacero brought it up w/ Arn a few posts/pages ago-- s/he asked that that 'sneaky' time frame of change window be expanded from 2 to 5 minutes.

Ah, I didn't see that (amazingly, since it's so easy to follow the flow in this thread).

But I thought the "window" was determined by if it was read or not, not the time frame. Guess I know better now.

Holy moly... I can't find those posts now. I feel like I'm crazy.

Well, since people tend not to read threads when they see your name as last poster, I can see how you'd think that. ;)

JUST KIDDING, of course! devilot jumps onto a thread as soon as your name pops up!

ARGH!!! AHHHHHHH! Oops... we're out in the open, now, huh?

Er... That is not the case. Maybe if I go back and read each and every post instead of just skimming the thread I'll be able to find that exchange.

Post #16 in this thread. Too lazy to add link....

And we knew about you two all along. Private Messages, OK, not public posts? Please, people.

This is in no way meant to sound holier-than-thou or anything, but I'm quite surprised to hear that people actually use those buttons atop the text input window :p
I find it much faster to write the post if I have the url copied (for images) and simply type and the resulting close by hand with a simple cmd-v in the middle. I guess to each his own, I rarely use those buttons though....[/QUOTE]

I hardly ever post image links (except in the MacRumors Pics thread!) so I don't use the img tags, but I guess I could easily just use the URL tags for actual links. I was just always used to clicking the link button and having it do the rest for me, so it's a minor adjustment, that's all... ;)

I bow down to your greatness... ;)

I hand-type many if not most tags, but URLs are a more complicated syntax, for which I've always relied on the automatic feature of the board. Not something I use a lot, but it will be missed nonetheless. Maybe arn can fill us in on why the feature was deleted -- everything else in the upgrade having been such a notable improvement.

I, too, am curious why this was changed... ah well, like I said, not a big deal in the end...

As I said before, It's how is done in vB 3.5. And I believe it was done to make it more WYSIWYG.

The reason I like more is because it's far more consistent with how everything else works. When you press the bold button it will modify the text you have selected, not prompt you to enter new text. The same makes sense, to me at least, for other type changes to the text too, including linking.
When I write a new post, I always write the full text first, then do text modifications later. With the old method I ended up typing the text link twice, which was a little annoying, since it (AFAIK) overwrote the text I selected and didn't bother to just reuse it.

OK -- I'm now having problems with the 'Preview Post' feature.

A few seconds after clicking the button, the page reloads with an 'Invalid link/page' message, preventing the preview.

BTW: Safari 1.3

Anyone else?

Works fine for me in IE for Windows and Safari 2.0.1 in Tiger... sorry, don't have Safari 1.3 to test.

I've been getting the same for all parts of the site. They work straight after I click refresh though. FWIW, I'm using a mixture of the latest Safari and Internet Explorer (for XP).

Is this guides thing part of the new vB, or something separate. Wasn't there a thread on them somewhere, I want to ask why all the iXXXXX articles start with a capital I, because that drives me crazy. It's like IPod, ITunes, etc.

Also, how come different guides show at the top of different forums. Does it have to do with content?

Software limitation.
Linkety as an example.

Not sure if I should have started a new thread or not...

but when I use vB's quote button now, it doesn't always work. It will chop off the final bracket of the first 'quote' example... [QUOTE=blahblah

...it's happened to me at least three times now. :( Anybody else experienced this?

I haven't had any troubles with this yet, just tried it to this post and it worked fine. Perhaps it's because you change your 'tar so much

Edit: It is that addition first bracket. Simply removing that makes the text quote properly, and that is based off of pushing the button not manual coding. Here it is without that bracket:

Errr. you sure? :D

Edit: I occationally have the same problem, but it's mostly when I edit manually and the last QUOTE tag is missing the /.

yeah, it looks like you had some trouble with that one, efoto..

The reasoning for the above mistake is due to the extra "

and not the closing of my actual quoted text. I'll go back and experiment to fix that....perhaps even adding quotes solves the issue, who knows.

Fixed above. It was indeed that initial bracket. The system was searching for the closing of that quote and it simply never came along. Funny how that happened....but I don't think that is what devilot's problem is.

Edit: Now I'm flustered, what is wrong with the above italicized comment??

the opostrophe after it. ;)
