LOL. This guy is good.

Nah he's borderline offensive. Notice too how quickly he whips out the "Fandroid" cannon at the mere hint of weakness in his opponent. Quickly neutralizes any hope of intelligent, reasoned debate.

Wow, girl. You needs to do some research.

Oh wait, I'm sure you somehow always wind up with the magical Android phones that magically never have any of the battery problems that the rest of them do. Yeah, that's gotta be it. It couldn't possibly be that you're full of crap and trying to convince people to ignore the facts.

Yup, add in a healthy dose of misogyny and ridiculous arrogance.

Wasn't this off the record stuff? Or did Steve ask him to include that in the book? If it was off the record, it's not cool to include it.
It was an authorized biography. Jobs sat down with the author for a bunch of interviews. It was on the record.

how long before google/android copy Siri? I think they already started working on it.

What are you going to count as a "copy" of Siri? Because Siri wasn't the first voice recognition program by a long shot. It may be the most advanced at the moment (I honestly don't know, or care), but that doesn't mean Apple owns voice recognition now, or voice recognition on phones, or advanced voice recognition, or anything else past their implementation. At all. And future voice recognition isn't just a ripoff of Siri, no matter how much you claim it is.

It has nothing to do with voice recognition. For gods sake siri was an independent app before apple bought it. So yes, we all know voice recognition is not original. What apple did is make it better, then implement it in a way no other company could have envisioned. Android will copy apple. They have to. After all, their "competition" is so good for the market and consumers. On that topic, please stop being sheeple consumers people out there.

i like my ev0 4g. The gps is superior to the iPhone. The only thing that i really miss is the ease of use with the iPhoto, iTunes, etc.

I do find myself wasting a lot less money and time on meaningless apps now.

GPS? You mean navigation?

Everybody freaking rage about it. That's like saying Coke stole the idea of pop from Pepsi. Come on. Apple didn't find anything Android did interesting until now when they get mad about it

Why haven't they sued Google if this is true?

Nip it in the bud Apple. Go after the source.

I asked exactly what that poster would count as a "copy" of Siri. I didn't get an answer. So, you tell me, what exactly would make voice recognition a "copy" of Siri? And don't even think about saying "better than what was out a couple years ago".

Ugh, all the idiot fAndroids are flooding the boards with the smell of mildewy nerd and are giving down votes to any comment that actually makes a good point. It's frustrating to see so many people making good points, only to see the children plugging their ears and screaming to drown out the common sense.

Peace out.

And every time that happens the original inventor is pissed as hell, quite rightfully so. So it doesn't really make it "ok" because everyone does it.

That's why there are patents.

You can't patent everything.

Anyway, my point was, and it is a fact that every company copies each other, draws inspirations, and learns. Thats how products evolve into even better products.

You'd think from these boards Apple are self contained, coming up with all these great products without influence from other products / companies, and every idea is 100% theirs ( forgetting the copying - i.e., notifications, a most recent example. SIRI isn't original either - it was available as an App before the 4S )

Listen to what this guy has to say about the subject:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW0DUg63lqU

Congratulations on being the tenth person on this thread to take that clip out of context!

Now, either watch "Triumph of the Nerds" to see what Steve Jobs was talking about, or read the entire quote he got that from (it started from TS Elliot--someone else quotes it on page four or three of this thread). It makes it all very clear about how Jobs and Google are not even slightly equivalent.

Anyone can cherry pick screenshots, and the one you chose is Samsung's UI that has been customized by the user of that phone to look like iOS.

Here's a new Android phone homescreen, looks nothing like an iPhone:

The beauty of customization.

If you ever need a defense attorney, I hope the one you hire doesn't do as bad of a job as you just did.

It's almost haunting to hear Jobs speak (via quotes) about topics that are still relevant today (HP dismantling, Android...etc) even just weeks after his passing...

Love these posts.....For starters I currently own a 4g (jailbroken) and a Samsung Galaxy S2. One is personal line and other is bus line. I have been a die hard Iphone user since day one. I have been there at every release waiting in line all night. Love apple and what a great product.

HOWEVER----My neighbor dared me to tried an android device for one week and swore I would be a convert. I am not totally a convert, but very impressed with the capabilities of the droid device. The best way I can describe is with a bottle of mustard. : >) IF apple puts a bottle of mustard on the table and says its mustard by God its going to be mustard. You have no choice in the matter. However, if droid puts a bottle of mustard out on the table they will ask do you want a small container or large, do you want spicy or mild, do you want yellow mustard or how about a different color? In fact you dont like mustard how about BBQ sauce in the same container or ketchup. The list of choices is endless. With apple you take what they give you unless you want to expand and jailbreak. Sure you can download apps, but you cannot tweak them.

Apple does do simplistic very well. You have an operating system and it has apps. You open the app and then close it. With droid you have an option to have widgets allowing you to see info on a home screen prior to opening the app. With sportacular this is a great feature seeing scores without having to go deep in the app.

Jobs did a great job with the iPhone no doubt, but they have copied things from android as well. Just check out the notification screen on ios5. As for the battery I get about the same usage from both at this time. My Droid might be slightly less but not by much. They both are horrible in that area.

The other thing Iphone has done very well is having Steve as the front man. If droid would have had such a figure we might see something very different today. Its marketing plain and simple. Both devices work well. Do you want simplistic (which works well for about 80% of the population) or do you want something you can tweak and customize to you own desire??
In closing Love my iphone, but largely in part due to the jailbroken features. Without jailbreaking I wonder if would cont to use.

Side note---My wife loves her new Iphone 4s but has no interest than opening and closing apps or modding it out. She enjoys using Siri but even stated my Galaxy seems to do the same thing.

So many people think this kind of attitude is what's wrong with corporations and society today.

I love it. Steve's the man. I can't wait until my copy of the book arrives.

Ummm.. The picture of the galaxy next to the iphone is the official Samsung photo of the galaxy. Not some users customization.

Oh god my sides.

"Peace out."

And stay out.

Nice post - variety. However, you may want to paragraph your post.. its kind of tough to read. :)
