Go Steve!!!

Support all the way to iOS. I am even trying to limit my google search products usage....i want to move to my iOS email id as my primary email too....tired of gmail.

Facebook, twitter, groupon, apple and microsoft/yahoo should kinda get together and dethrone Googles domination. I am sick of google buying every idea on the web or copying them, or trying to kill them...google as a whole should be brought down.....i think email and search business is something apple should somehow dive into.....Siri does have potential to become a full fledged search engine....lets see where it goes..

GO APPLE! Go Steve! :)

So, Apple is better because it's American. Samsung and HTC are worse because they are Asian. And Google is also bad because they associate with Asians.

Wow, yeah, thanks for being racist.

*Looks down at "Made in China" on my Apple packaging.

The level of hypocrisy from that guy is deafening.

He could have killed android if he allowed flash and made a new design instead of the iphone 4s. Not that it isn't a great phone, but it could have beat android in so many ways.

Yeah, God knows if Apple took the same exact insides from the iPhone 4S, but put them in a new shell, Android would be all like "No!!!1! We're gonna stop copying now! Bummer dude!! Weaksauce forever!!!"

And Flash? Really? Does anyone really miss Flash on their iPhone or iPad? I don't. First, my battery lasts longer without it. Second, my device isn't chugging to load that crap. Third, it's a virus portal that I don't have to worry about. And fourth, Flash barely works on a lot of mobile devices anyway.

I would at least like the option.

And yet he's never shown a moment's remorse from stealing practically the entire concept of the Macintosh from Xerox, without which Apple wouldn't even exist any more.

GO APPLE! Go Steve! :)

I'm not a huge fan of Google buying everything, but how, exactly, is it different from Microsoft and Apple buying everything? All three of them buy a LOT of small, innovative companies.

What Was Eric Schmidt Doing On The Apple Board?

Now we know....parasiting, spying, stealing, and ultimately...copying.

Way to go Eric....way to take the "high road".

This is one big bull.

No it's not. Here's two shots from my HTC Evo4G just now -- the mysterious battery-draining flash support and all:

Edit: however allow me to state that what really destroys battery life on ANY phone is if you have low signal and the phone has to do a lot of hunting. No phone is immune to draining its battery in that condition. Mine stays generally within good reception, though.

You can't patent everything.

Anyway, my point was, and it is a fact that every company copies each other, draws inspirations, and learns. Thats how products evolve into even better products.

You'd think from these boards Apple are self contained, coming up with all these great products without influence from other products ( and copying as well - i.e., notifications, a most recent example, or the candy bar style phone etc etc.)

Well, Apple gets copied 100 times more than they copy others. That's the point.

There is a world of difference of Steve seeing a mouse cursor interface and imagining that they can build a personal computer around it, and Bill Gates seeing Mac OS and imagining that they can do the exact same with Windows 3.

The same difference is Steve seeing Fingerworks gestures and imagining that they can build a phone around this, and Google seeing iOS and imagining that they can copy it.

Apple took big risks because they kept introducing things that were different than where the entire industry was going. And when they were successful others copied them.

And it also pisses me off when people say "this is best for everyone, iOS wins, Android wins, competition is good". Now imagine that what would happen if Android did what Apple did, that they'd come up with a completely different way of interacting with your phone, a completely different way than the iPhone, wouldn't that be actually "best for everyone"? Like every company out there taking as big risks as Apple did and coming up with completely different stuff? And then we, the user base, could actually choose among them which suits such a device best? I think true innovation coming from all parties would create a better arena, an arena where things are more than clones of each other.

Any web search from Siri is going to go threw Google.

Siri only uses web search as a last resort... when it understand the words you said but can't figure out what on earth you're asking it to do. And even then, it's just using the default search engine you set in Settings (which can be switched to Yahoo or Bing), and you can specifically ask it use any of those search engines on a case-by-case basis.

The threat Siri poses to Google is that it provides an alternative to "just Google it" as a front-line access to searching for information.

It's not about searching the web: it's about often not even *needing* to search the web, if the right information sources are directly accessible to Siri. Look at all the things it can do through Wolfram Alpha... now imagine what will happen if Apple continues to expand the range of sources, or finds a way to open it up to third-party apps or services.

Sure, for a lot of the things Siri does, Google might be your last resort, also; instead, you might do a similar job of accessing more dedicated services directly. But that's because you know to do that. Siri lets you do the same without having to know.

(Trust me, there are an awful lot of people out there who don't know how to do that, and for whom the Google search box is the one and only way of looking things up on the Internet.)

tl;dr: Siri threatens Google not by being a better search engine, but by reducing the need for a conventional search engine.

It is not called competition when Google copies iOS and on top of it make it open-source. Even though I don't like Microsoft, I appreciate them for making an original product that is on par with iOS. Thats the reason why Steve is pissed only with Android and not webOS or Windows Phone 7.

Why is Apple only suing Samsung and not Google then? They did sue Microsoft, not IBM.

Apple is great but nice to have a choice and customize phone. Only way to do this is with Jailbroken phone. Why wont apple allow this. THey are light years behind the jailbreak apps. I was expecting new Text message notification and very disappointed opens right into text app. What about pop up window you can answer from the lock screen??

As for Jobs yep such a great guy that his kids barley new him!! I have no doubt his kids love there IPhone 4s though. Sure Jobs did a great job, but dead and gone. I wonder while he is sitting below if he now regrets his decisions in life?? Bet so

Google took Apple's work, modified Android to mimic it, then gave it away for free to commodity Asian handset makers to bludgeon Apple with. Yeah, Steve had every right to be pissed.

Thanks Google. You're a real American dream.

ROFL Laguna.

"Designed by apple in California. Assembled in China".

Featuring hardware and tech from American greats like: Arm, Sony, Samsung, LG......

The all American dream.

Stop taking such an introverted stance on technology.
