One more thing is Phil heaving onto stage, yelling “ceramic shield coating” followed by “can’t talk crap anymore, my ass!”.It think it a a spray on coating!
Bingo. You nailed it.That’s the sign of a maturing market.
And sadly, most of the fields that Apple is in are relatively mature. Over the next years, upgrades to their existing lines are going to seem smaller and smaller and smaller.
Hell, it happened to the Mac in the mid 2000s. Pretty much since 2008 or so, it’s just been thinner, lighter, faster.
The iPod reached maturity relatively quickly. By the fourth GEN, people knew what it was, and they knew what they expected of it. After that, it was just diversification, and increasing storage and efficiency.
The iPad came out in 2010, and by 2013, it was relatively set in its ways. Again, just diversification and efficiency.
The Apple Watch is there now, where every year it feels like the upgrades get smaller and smaller.
While I want to believe this, I have a few things that I don’t think add up.
First of all, I think the likelihood of MMWave Being US only is completely ridiculous. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the exact opposite, where MMWave is only available for the international models, where as the US models only have sub 6G. My reasoning is, other countries outside the US have much wider MMWave deployment. In the US, the only carrier that has sort of focused on MMWave is Verizon, and even then, it’s barely anywhere here. T-Mobile and AT&T don’t have any MMWave from my understanding, but I could be wrong about this. Either way, the point is that other countries have it a lot more than we do.
The second thing I have doubts about is these prices.
A 64GB iPhone 12 for $799, which would make a 128 GB $849. To me, these prices seem way too close to the pro models. You could get a 128GB 12 for $849, or $37.38 for 24 months.
Or, a 128GB 12Pro for only an extra $150, or an extra $6.14 a month. These seem way too close together, and not at all going off the last several iPhone launches.
Since the majority of people nowadays buy their phones on the monthly installment plans, Apple has usually priced their phones about $10 a month difference, give or take a dollar or two. The XR was $31 a month, vs the XS $41 a month. That’s a big enough difference to make customers want to opt for the lower model.
With the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, that gap got even wider.
My prediction for the pricing is that either Jon Prosser is correct, and the pricing for the 12 Mini and 12 are actually $649 and $749.
That would make the 128 GB iPhone 12 $799, a full $200 difference between it and the $999 128 GB Pro. Or, the 12Pro Will be getting a price increase to $1049 and $1149.
I don’t know, but Apple has always been psychological with their pricing. I remember back in the Day of them insisting that the magical price point for products was $199. They made sure that the iPhone, iPod, and the cheapest Apple Watch started at that magical $199 Price point. But lately their pricing has been confusing.
For example, they are clearly trying to get rid of all 32 bit products. So why on earth would they still continue to sell the Apple Watch Series 3, even though they just introduced the SE that is supposed to be its replacement.
Also, why are they still selling the iPhone XR, the iPod Touch, and the Apple TV HD.
Oh, and another thing I just noticed about this rumor, why is the colors for the lower end models going from six options down to five? And where is the orange that was rumored, and is in the invitation.
That would kill battery life. And then people would complain about that. 5g is already a huge battery killer but people think they need it. Personally I'd rather have 120hz but it's also a battery killer. No 120hz and no mmwave LOL Tim Apple. No buy thank you.
The iPhone 12 pricing is ridiculous. For 200 dollars more you can just get the Pro. Last year the difference between the Pro and the 11 was 400 dollars. That was a big difference. Now only 200 dollars separates the two? That does not sound right.
Otter box solved this issue with the previous generation Touch ID while keeping their cases waterproof. It's possible that could happen again.I really hope not. Imagine trying to unlock your phone with a case on...TouchID would be useless.
Don't think non techies will upgrade anyway ftom 6.1 ftom last year$100 price increase if you have got used to 6.1 inches and want to stay there.
Vile, greedy corp just keeps getting worse.
if you don’t own any stock, how can you defend this continued land grab as a consumer?
OLED Super Retina XDR displays
Geezus - might as well squeeze Fantabulous in there while they're at it
Lots of room for improvement..
OLED Super Liquid Retina Ultra XDR Plus Pro display with Pro Motion, Truest Tone, Enhanced super ultra wide color P3 Plus gamut with Multi haptic 4D touch.
I like the way you put it. Honestly, I don’t see it as a bad thing. Smart phones are now just a commodity, relatively standard, and all do more or less the same thing at their respective price points. Labeling this as a mature market, as you have, I think hits the nail on the head. That’s the sign of a maturing market.

those wired headphones and charger cost them pennies. Not having them would never have affected the price. Rumor is they will have a braided lightning cable instead. That would be nice.Without a charger or headphones in the box, I was definitely hoping it would come in closer to the $650 mark.
Two Key Observations:
1.) The aperture in the Back Wide is migrating from f/1.8 to f/1.6 for ALL four models ! ... a direct benefit of the new 7P lens ?
2.) The 12 Pro appears to get the same Back Tele design as the 11 Pro & 11 Pro Max, while the 12 Pro Max appears to get a new Back Tele design !
The Back Tele on the 12 Pro Max is probably the one that gets the 47% larger sensor, vs the 12 Pro.
Here, possibly a 16 Mpx image sensor, & with larger pixels (vs the 12 Mpx 1.0um pixel in the 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, & probably also the 12 Pro).
The Back Tele on the 12 Pro Max could be Apple's first Periscope design !
