  • Camera: triple lens (LiDAR + wide angle with 7P lens, f/1.6, 52mm focal length telephoto, 5x optical zoom)
5x optical does that equal a 130 mm telelens or? 🤔

No, that is only 65mm as the 5x is calculated from the ultra-wide camera. The existing iPhone 11 has a 4x zoom so not that much of an improvement. I was hoping for at least 3x from the Wide lens, so 6x in total.

So the 12 is all about 5G and the camera. 5G is effectively worthless now and they always make camera improvements. This is an iPhone 11s and that's being generous...

It’s got a new design so I wouldn’t call it an “S” phone. It is looking more likely to me that next year’s iPhone “13” is more of a “12S” than anything. Those will bring higher quality screens and cameras, faster 5G and A15 chip, all while keeping this year’s design.

I want a smaller iPhone, but this leak only tells us screen size. I’m curious what the actual device size is.

Serious question: If 5G is "effectively worthless now"...why does AT&T's coverage map show my entire area saturated with 5G (an area where LTE is spotty anywhere off of a main road).

As a layman may I know will photos taken by 12 pro max have much better quality than that by 12 pro? If I have a 11 pro, does 12 pro worth an upgrade or I have to choose 12 pro max for larger camera sensor?! Many thanks!

It’s kind of sad if Apple is once again using the MagSafe brand, but in this case for what is effectively a standard Qi charging coil system with magnets around it to center the charger on the coils. I guess that effectively kills the idea of the “set-anywhere-mat” charger. I’d much prefer if they ditched the Qi coil and Lightning port and simply added a MagSafe-style connection point where the Lightning port was. That would save a some space in the iPhone where the coil is now.

I personally never understood why so many Qi chargers are the flat puck-style, where the phone sits flat on a desk / table. It’s awkward for actually being able to use or view your device while on the charger, especially compared to an angled stand-style Qi charger. Even for bedside use, I love being able to roll over and look at my iPhone on the stand for a quick glance, then grab it if needed. My wife has a puck charger and she is always forced to pick up her iPhone to check it when she gets a message or alert.

All that said, I’ll definitely be upgrading to the 12 Pro Max, so that my wife can take my 11 Pro Max as an upgrade from her XR, which is not lasting her through a full day anymore. I’m excited to hear more details on the new iPhones next week.

Unless others can correct us, I agree. I have the 7Plus and never upgraded to the 11 because I didn't see the value in spending $1000 for the improvements I would receive. I would have had to buy the 11Pro to see any major upgrade to my 7Plus. But hey, if they want to sell me the 11Pro for $650 before the end of the year, I would buy it.

I really hope this phone has the squared off edges like the older iphones had. To me those phones were much easier to hold and not slip out of your grip as easy as the rounded models.

It’s a joke that Apple refuses to give their customers a 1TB option. They have 1TB microSD cards for under $300 now. They won’t do it because they are scared. If the iPad in 2018 could handle 1TB, then it’s an insult to our intelligence that an iPhone in 2021 cannot handle 1TB.... especially since the A14 exceeds the A12X/Z in Metal. The 6GB RAM Pro models need to have 1TB option, there is zero excuse other than pure greed from Cupertino...

While I wouldn't want a 1TB device, it's because I don't see any need for it.

What data/files would you store on a phone that would take up that much room?

The max is looking more and more like November. I was hoping this was not true, just keep my 11 pro max and get off the apple upgrade program. I am not going to waste two months of payments to upgrade.

I honestly just don’t see the point of upgrading from my iPhone X. I’m not a photographer and only take utilitarian photos, so I don’t even take advantage of the single functional difference between the phones.

The iPhone X still has a great screen, is plenty fast, and has all the same features other than the cameras. Am I missing something? Is it just me, or has there been practically zero innovation in phones for the last 3-4 years or so, not just limited to Apple?

I may just save my money. I’m usually a fan of upgrading my phones, but the last couple years haven’t really been compelling.

I have the iPhone X and am excited for the iPhone Pro. I really miss the bigger screen and size. Although my iPhone X is still in like new condition physically, the keyboard is starting to burn into the screen, decreasing battery life, etc. I'm not necessary excited for the new iPhone specifically, im mostly excited just to get a new phone in general.

Looking for advice on what to do, I currently have a paid off XR through Xfinity mobile. ATT is offering a deal right now where if you port a line in and trade in a phone, I could get the iPhone 11 pro Max for pretty much free. With these specs that are leaked, I’m not seeing anything crazy that is going to change between the pro max 11 and the 12 besides price. What do you guys recommend I do? Should I upgrade to the 11 pro max for pretty much free or go with the 12?

I would add one important thing, screen. Yes OLED started with the X but it's the very first time it will be in the whole line-up with <$1k iPhones and you will gain ann eve better screen/front face ratio vs current 11 Pro. IMO it's a big deal and a big bonus point for all non-pro model vs past ones.

I dunno why but this year's iPhone lineup just feels real underwhelming. Sure it has the incremental upgrades people have come to expect, but there is nothing here that seems innovative or new.

Probably upgrading my XS next year and I find myself way more interested in what Samsung is doing lately.

My first advice would be check the size / weight. In the short term I tought it was fine for me. But after a long use I noticed this kind of form factor are too big / heavy for me.

I think smart phones, including iPhones have reached tech peak, just like bicycles did long ago.
Who buys a new $1000 bicycle every year?

Is there a deadline for that deal? If not, see what Apple presents on the 13th then make your final decision. I am still on a X and have not seen much enough to drive me to upgrade. 2023 is looking like my year.
