How is Apple screwing their customers? Customers always have the option of buying a C2D iMac, not buying a Mac at all, or waiting for price cuts or new releases. It's fallacious to suggest, even with just a single supplier of OSX, that computer buyers don't have plenty of alternatives.
iBorg20181 said:1. You've made my first point - Apple is screwing the customer, by only offering yesterday's processor at today's prices! Every manufacturer, except Apple, sells C2D in top-of-the-line units, and offers CD at a discount. Maybe Apple's new sales slogan could be: "Pay our inflated charge for yesterday's technology ... or piss off!"
2. "Plenty of alternatives?" Puh-lease! Knock-knock ..... what "alternative," in a lappie, do we have? Oh, that's right - none! Old-school Core-Duo, whether in MacBooks or MacBook "Pros." Your solution: "by a C2D iMac or nothing at all?" Riiiiiight! Put a handle on the iMac and pull it around on wheels?
Not meaning to vent on you, but Apple simply has no excuse to be left behind like this. They're using the same parts as every other PC maker - same choices at the same prices. If they're going to offer only "last generation" choices, then they should sell them at discount prices. They'd still be "making a fortune on them."

n00bst3r said:looks like Apple screwed themselves by pushing the 1" form factor, as if it hadnt screwed them in the 15" MBP already. now all the fan boys will be whining when the new MBP comes out and its thicker than the last one. I won't care as long as it has a better GPU and supports 64bit. 160 gig hd would be nice too. Oh yea and no DL DVD burning in 15" was a deal breaker on the first version.
What I want to know is what the hell has apple been doing for the last 9 months?
Oh thats right adding another drive bay to the PowerMac and putting an iMac in a bigger case. Talk about a company walking the bleeding edge of technology.

I can predict we'll see some people asking when the next likely date is, someone saying that it will definately be tuesday, someone else saying that they heard from a bloke they know that it was going to be tuesday, then a whole load of people asking if it's 9am in Cupertino yet, and finaly someone saying "so ... next tuesday then?".

timmillwood said:It is NOT going to be updated in MWSF because Apple do not have enough stock of Macbooks and Macbook Pros to last over the holiday season.
Predictions are Apple will sell around 1 millions notebooks over the holiday season... How can they without the stock?
They will be here, i think MBPs by end of oct then MBs by middle of Nov.

My roommate ordered a BTO MacBook 5 weeks ago at an onlinestore, he talked to them yesterday on the phone to ask why it takes so long...
They told him they had to cancel his order because Apple is not shipping any laptops at this moment because the new MacBooks and MacBookPros will be out the 24th of Oktober.
thought it might interest some around here.![]()
