Just so I am not misinterpretid...the guy said wait for Tuesday. So that COULD mean NO MBP'S are announced MONDAY, but announced TUESDAY! Then again it COULD be announced monday. Either way, come tuesday, you will be able to buy Macbook Pro's immediately that day or within a few days after, either online or retail.

Whilst I completely believe you were told this information by an Apple Store worker, it is well known that Apple Store employees aren't told much at all. In fact, I'd be surprised if they knew much more than we do. There's a chance that the worker simply reads sites like MacRumors and was trying to give you some advice because he THINKS (but doesn't know) there will be release next week.

I spent some time at the apple store yesterday checking out the difference between glossy and matte displays on the MBP. (Managed to set off the alarm too.. haha, but i digress)

I asked a few of the workers there about the "chance" for a C2D MBP... most were completely uninformed, saying they were not given ANY prior knowledge of product releases. One said he was in the market for a new MBP and waiting for the upgrade, hopefully sooner than later.

So yeah, an uneventful trip... probably not worth posting, but i'm so anxious i can't help it. Btw, the 30in ACD is absolutely breathtaking.

My coworker brings his 17" MBP to work every day and I'm so jealous. Besides showing me all of the fun stuff in OS X it's been cool seeing the things he does with bluetooth between the MBP, Palm and Motolola Razr.

It's going to be great to dump Pinnacle Studio on the PC and do video editing on the MPB. I've been ready to get my own since last month and I'm ordering the C2D MBP the day it comes out. If it's not available by next week I'm going to burst! GAAAAH!!!!

hooked

I've been following this thread and a few others for the past 3 weeks diligently (at least 2 hours a day... at LEAST) as a guest, and I've finally decided to register. I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but hello and i'm glad to be part of this community!

I've been wanting to switch to apple for about 2 years now - just haven't had the dough (i didn't jump on the bandwagen and buy a cheap computer, either, though... heh, i just don't have a computer!)
The days seem to go by slower when counting the seconds to when i'll a) have enough money to buy and b) counting the seconds to when we all HOPE C2D arrives for the notebooks!

Insanity is setting in.

MBPs at Amazon.com are unavailable.

MBs are also running low (3-4 depending on model).

In the other thread about Photokina someone states that it's just one configuration that is not available.

Yeah, the configuration that was linked to in danvdr's post above. All others seem to be in stock and ready to order.

I wonder if buyer's for large retail chains get any information from apple about how many units of a particular product they should purchase and whether they should hold off for whatever reason.

Welcome to MacRumors :) the insanity seems to be contagious here... At least I can say that the upcoming MBP updates are always on MY mind.

I think it also means that you are using the best computers available. Windows offerings are not in the same class (Vista or not), and that's just the way it is.

I've recieved "the look" from my boss already 3 times this week as he walked by my office seeing that I was very intently dissecting these forums.

12:42 on Friday - I should be happy that the weekend is only 4 hours and 15 minutes away, however; I sink in my seat, wonderning if anything might happen even over the weekend. More rumors popping up and whatnot.
Bah, I need just a few hundred more.

This will be the first weekend in memory that I can't wait to get through. Monday cannot get here fast enough.

I'm with you on that one... i normally dread Mondays. I'm actually really looking forward to this one.

my contact at an apple store said supplies are low on MBP. :D I asked him how often he gets new shipments in and he says practically everyday, but hasn't had any MBP recently. However, the MB's are in good supply and suspects the MB's will stay at CD and the MBP's at C2D. To me, this makes sense, in order to make the price difference more reasonable, and possibly drive the price of MB's down. (Or worse drive MBP price up :()

Don't Apple usually ship out the new models ahead of time so they can put them on sale right away tho? I'd have expected a delivery today if that were the case, maybe tomorrow tho weekend deliveries are expensive even for Apple, and bearing in mind the time at the European event is nine hours ahead of Cupertino ... so if it were to be announced at the Photokina event, it'd be announced while most of us are still asleep...

Not trying to dash you hopes, just an observation.

Well, they actually recieve new products "next day". So if it is announced Monday, apple stores will receive them Tuesday :-D. If it's announced Tuesday, apple stores will receive them Wedensday.

If anounced Monday, do they recieve and sell them Tuesday or would they be sold wed?

In theory, if they're announced Monday, the stores will have them Tuesday. In reality, they'll probably have them by Friday.

Exactly. I was in the Apple store at the end of last week, and they still hadn't received the new iPods, though they had the new pricing out. The new Nano's they had almost immediately from what the store employee told me.

Soooo true. I never thought the day would come where i wished i had no weekend, but hell i'd take another week of work just to KNOW. if they dont end up announcing them, i cant even imagine how pissed ill be.

haha. we've all become such junkies...

Exactly what i was thinking...

but the question is... can we take this to mean that if MBP's have a new form factor and major updates then immediate release and if just a Merom drop then delayed?

ID LOVE TO BE ABLE TO PICK UP A BLACK ANODIZED MBP MONDAY! ok...Tuesday realistically
