I think more importantly we need a counceling hotline. Perhaps someone can publish a self help book?

1. Find your phone directory.
2. Pick it up in both hands.
3. Hit self over the head with it.
4. Repeat until unconcious.

Ta-da, self help! ;)

Interesting thought regarding the C2D upgrade: Do you guys think there is something to the coincidence that mainstream windows laptops have not upgraded either?

Obviously there are lots of laptops out there right now that have C2D, thats why you all are so upset that yours is not one of them.. What I mean is that none of the big websites (Newegg, TigerDirect, etc.) that sell tons of computers have any yet. Newegg has hundreds of laptops based on Core Duo alone (up to $3k), but not a single machine with C2D. I wonder if there is more to this than the simple "supply is limited" answer... because if that were the case then you would see few C2D laptops on newegg, not none.

Why is it that despite the fact that C2D is available at Dell, etc., Newegg is similar to Apple in not offering any? It almost seems deliberate, because newegg carries brands like Acer that have made the move to C2D, but they just aren't selling those particular models yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if on the same day Apple finally updates the macbook, Newegg very suddenly has 25 options available for windows laptops with the same chip... I just can't figure out why they would do that. Is there some sort of secret agreement with Intel that full-on marketing can't take place until the holiday season starts?

I've been a little disappointed by the recent lack of rumors surrounding Apple's plans for their new notebooks.

Does anyone know when any new rumors about the possible specifications for the C2D MBPs will start appearing on the front page?

Most are offering them via their websites. At least, Dell are, Lenovo are, Toshiba are, HP/Compaq are ...

I've posited that supplies are relatively limited in the past and that Apple blew its first allocation on the iMac.

However, my local Circuit City has C2D machines in -- including in the 2GHz range -- so they can't be that tight, I'd have thought.

So... maybe. I've not followed newegg for notebooks so I've no idea how quickly they usually get new systems.

I'm still hoping for a New Hardware Tuesday, in spite of the lack of any new rumors.

The appearance of both rumors and hardware is probably unpredictable.

There is a reason

Hi Everyone,

Well, I think the lack of rumors for this week is becuase everyone is pretty disgusted with the situation. I have resigned myself that it will be at least a number of weeks, if not months before we see the big C2D update. Sigh...

I think the lack of rumors is because Steve has added an additional clause to all of Apple Employee NDAs. Basically, the small clip of the new shuffle can be strategtically placed on the.... well, you get the idea...

Ever since those clamps came out, its been deathly quiet on the rumor front :)

Heh. Are you suggesting we need a macrumorsrumors.com? :D

But maybe it's not so funny; this is what we've been reduced to. I've certainly been cycling through the rumor sites wondering where the rumors are. :(

Low hopes for tomorrow

Hi All,

Very low hopes for tomorrow. Why? Because its actually a day where my work schedule would allow a quick spending spree at the Apple store.

The new MMBPs will come out when I am swamped working 12 hour days for a month. :)

if i were an admin for macrumors i'd just make up some phony rumor just to get people excited for a macbook pro release tomorrow, and maybe it'll happen or we'll just get really let down.

man i guess everyone is giving up on the update tomorrow, i guess i'll sleep on it also.

I believe!! i still believe!! :D afterall.. this is all i have... false hope is better than no hope.. come on apple! dont let me down!

I hate to say it, but I think it's highly unlikely that the MMBP will be out tomorrow. We'll need to wait another month or so, it sucks, but true. :(

But I sure do hope I'm wrong!

Considering the norwegian Apple-store, and other European ones I assume, ends the iPod-deal at october 7th, I'm not terribly optimistic for today.
Especially since the regular Apple-store got this banner today:

Could of course be nothing, but seems sort of strange to be pushing that deal if new ones are coming out today.

Anyway, here's to hope!

Yes, it's reasons like this that makes me think we won't see any new MMBPs till late this month or next month. It seems to me that October is the month for Apple to sell their remaining CD MPBs and then move onto their new products.

Wasnt the the C2D imac and updated mini released when this offer was still going on in the US? i dont think this offer matters since apple specifies which models qualify and which dont. im hoping for a release tomorrow, i have a buyer for my current POS PC and hes getting impatient, im hoping for C2D MBP's tomorrow or atleast next week.

I don't recall if they had a promo like this for the Imac, this offer is only for the MacBooks and MacBook Pros, so yeah.

This offer is for "MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac with SuperDrive, Power Mac G5 (?!) or Mac Pro", and from what I can tell, the 24" iMac qualifies for this offer in the Norwegian store. So, it does not categorically exclude a possible MBP launch today, it just makes it seem a little less likely I guess.

Edit:
Found the specific products that are avaliable for this offer; http://www.apple.com/no/backtoschool/faq.html.

iMac 24 is indeed there, it lists 15,4-tommers MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo and
17-tommers MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo as the MBP's available, so if they want to, they can simply not update this requirement, and the offer doesn't apply to new machines, but they obviously updated it for the iMac..

Man, too many openings, can't really deduce much from all this..

I saw a car yesterday decked out with tinsel, father christmas doll thingies hanging from the rear view mirror, reindeer dolls on the parcel shelf etc - does that signify the official start of the 'holidays'? If so, bring on my new C2D :)

The clearest indication yet that the new MBPs will be out imminently :D

Now!

Sell it to him now! Don't take the risk that you'll be left holding the baby. Better to have to use pencil and paper in the mean time.

Hoping For This Morning But Not Expecting Anything Anymore

Would be nice. But I can't tell what's going on with the C2D supplies. I think Apple's move to release the C2D iMac so early was brilliant. But I guess it was at the expense of having to delay the mobiles longer than any of us could imagine.

My guess is they didn't want to disrupt the mobile line in the middle of the back-to-school buying period, so they went with upgrading the desktops first.

I guess the other possibility is they felt the desktops needed it more given the PC world was moving to Core 2 Duo too. Granted, the rest of the desktop world pretty much is going with Conroe but it's basically the same processor, FSB aside...

I admin I was a little surprised not to see the iMac go Conroe tho' ...

Agreed The Missing Conroe Mac Is Still A Mystery

Yes. Still seems like Conroe or at least it's 4-core decendant, Kentsfield, should have a future in the Mac family as the driving force in a yet to be announced new line of headless Macs in the same price points as the iMacs - $1-2k providing more power than the iMacs but still less than the 8 core Dual Clovertown Mac Pros early next year.

Perhaps this will be the January 9 SteveNote surprise for 2007. iMacs can remain strong all-in-ones with the same power structure as the mobiles but with bigger screens and bigger faster HDs while a headless 4-core line with Kentsfield can sell for the same money to satisfying those who want more power and different screen options but not the ultra power of a Mac Pro which will be advancing to an 8-core base by January.

Long sentence wasn't that? :p

The level of power that we are about to see come to market this Winter 2007 is really mind boggling. Surely Apple will want to bring 4-core computing to the masses with Kentsfield in January somehow don't you think?
