So it is actually already a really good card?

Why do some people want a nVidia card?

It *is* a really good card. However, it's not the BEST card, and a lot of people will moan unless the most powerful card is in their machine. In fact, one of my closest friends always says any video card I happen to mention is "utter crap" unless it's the one he currently thinks is the very best on the market.

So, lets get this thing straight.

Taking down the stores usually mean some real update, not just some minor adjustment or addition right?

Daaamn, you have no idea how much my left thumb misses the feel of the Apple-key. 2 weeks without an Apple laptop...

I doubt this is the MBP update. The store often goes down around this time and comes back with absolutely no changes. The store going down around this time is usually purely for maintainance. That no changes will happen is further strengthened by the fact that not all stores (importantly the US) are down.

Sorry, but it's very unlikely this is the update.

Well unless i'm mistaken they didn't take the stores down for Aperture & the new Nano's.... but tomorrow is a Friday. Is there precedent for a Friday launch?

PS thx ct scan & blackstarline for the advice :)

I agree. Had the U.S store gone down by now it might have been. Though the U.K store went down 10 mins after the Sweeden one.

Also it would be a wierd time to update it wouldn't it.

I've personally seen all the European stores go down around this time three times in the past, and each time when the stores came back up there were absolutely no changes.

I agree, if the US store was down I'd get excited, but since it's not I'm still pinning my hopes on a Tuesday update.

Apple's London Regent Street store closed an hour early tonight too I think. Wonder what's going on

Edit, from web:

Thursday Opening Hours
On Thursday October 5th, the store will close at 8.00 pm, an hour earlier than usual. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Also, the water went down the plughole anti-clockwise tonight, what does it all mean?!

Perhaps it's the Dollar conversion then?....perhaps other places outside the U.S are getting cheaper prices. Long shot but would explain the U.S staying online.

The U.S Store is much cheaper than outside the U.S.

Zimbabwe isn't in Europe!!! Maybe it's an update for everywhere in the world except America. :p

p.s Who's hand is sore from holding Apple+R for refresh on the U.S store hoping it goes down?

Just adding to the hype and conspiracy theories here... but...
Our local CompUSA is having a 6 hour sale tomorrow where the 15.4" Macbook Pro 2.16GHz is going to be on sale for 5% (big deal) off. But, they never go on sale otherwise...
Trying to lose that inventory? Hum...? hehe

Stores down:

Sweden
Denmark
Norway
UK
Germany
Austria
Holland

etc...

Is that very common, to have all european stores down at the same time?

Hong Kong is still up though...and still charging 1000 of it's currency per inch of screen. Makes the rest of our currency's seem cheap. I'm quite excited but seriously no update is going to happen with a few stores and not the rest.
