so low!!!!

DO YOU THINK that macbooks are going to get upgraded at all??

Yes, of course. But they're not going to be upgraded before the MBPs. No way. Generally the consensus is: the longer we wait, the greater the likelihood of a simultaneous upgrade, but simultaneous or not, you aren't gonna hear about Merom MBs without also (or first) hearing about Merom MBPs.

The UK store is offline too.
Possibly its because they had to change the Back to School offer announcement which ends yesterday 7th October and its gone from the store. There isn´t any news otherwise.

oh well, the longer we wait the longer this thread grows....maybe apple will finally release merom when this thread exceeds 5k posts or something like that.....

Thank you for shopping at the Apple Online Store
Apple's Online and phone Order Status services are temporarily unavailable due to a scheduled upgrade to our systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

bamparampa. Sounds kind of good. I ordered my black macbook over a month ago and it has yet not arrived (i live in iceland) and i'm hoping it means that there is somekind of update coming up...

Do you think it will be updated when i get it? It will arrive in about one week hopefully... fingers crossed

Two-week Return Policy

Bit the bullet last week and ordered a MacBook. I know i can change it within two weeks if a new model comes out, but is that 2 weeks from when it is dispatched or two weeks from when it arrives on my doorstep?

Arrives on Friday :D

With the end of the iPod offer here in the uk, I wonder if we'll see release of new laptops, as the mac expo is coming up in london in 3 weeks too, so we MAY see something soon

From Apple's return policy:
"please call 1-800-676-2775 for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) request within 14 calendar days of the receipt of the product."

So, 2 weeks from when you sign for it.

UK Store down!!!

US up though!!!

Thats twice in one day!! whats going on MBPs soon!, just hope my new 0% credit card comes soon too

Mild depression cured

Whilst my mild depression to have my grubby hands on my first ever Mac laptop is not likely to end until the speculation ends and the product is here, it was lifted by yesterdays SPECTACULAR result at Hampden Park!!! :D

France...who are they? If anyone ever needed proof why football teams hate coming to Glasgow then our win was it!!! A little off topic but I had to be cheered up somehow and we have to have our moment of glory. Today we are the unofficial best team in the world

Are we sure about the store going down every week? And was the ADC thing a joke?
yes it was a joke but you can see the pricing for all the products. click on the link http://developer.apple.com/membership/usa.html. then click on the link that says: ADC Hardware Purchase Program Store. It's the first link in the first paragraph of the site. Macbook pros are $500 less. It makes sense to get the student developer package for $99 and purchase the 15" mbp for 1999(High end). then go to the regular student discount store and buy Applecare for $249. The applecare on the ADC store is regular priced. You should be able to save at least $200 from doing this. (if your a student)

Haha, yes- good result. Shame about dear old Wales in the Slovakia match, though, wasn't it ;)

Sorry, off topic.

Please continue getting worked up about the lack of C2D :)

I'm not a developer though, what would be the problem with this? Would apple still require something and what not?

no just proof that you're enrolled in a college. They say nothing about looking at your transcripts and seeing if your taking CS courses. Many people have done it in the past without cs courses. It wouldn't be a hassle or anything.

Even if my school was strictly Film school and has only core classes + Film classes, no extra classes even close to that?

hmmm. not so sure about that one. If you sign up it takes a week for verification. If it doesn't verify you, you will get your money back though. If it does, say hello to a cheaper c2d macbook pro.

Hmm sweet might have to try that then... Now I just have to find Final Cut Pro 4 for sale... but I can't... Or any of the other Final Cut Studio Products

Macman, am I sacrificing anything by doing what you said (ordering MBP from ADC, and then applecare from my student page)? Like are there any restrictions on what I can do if something goes wrong with my MBP later on, or does the applecare basically take care of that? I'm unclear about that part.

And if I order it the abovementioned way, does the applecare apply to my MBP even if I didn't buy them in the same cart, or at the same time?

Slightly off topic but the UK store seems buggy, its really slow and if i try to do anything i get spinning beach balls

apple care takes care of all problems (excluding accidental damage like i spilled soda on it and it fell of my roof: but you can fool them sometimes). The way i mentioned to do it works. Don't buy applecare from adc store, waste of $100. get applecare from regular education store. Apple doesn't care where you get it from. You can even get it on ebay if you want. Education store will always be the cheapest way to go on apple care. Hardware is cheaper by going through ADC. It's a once in a lifetime purchase though with student ADC. You would have to get a more expensive membership to be able to purchase more than one.

how do i become a student ADC member in UK?

I am looking to get a 17" MBP and wondered if i would get more thant student discount if i was ADC....

Is there anyway of finding out the discount before i sign up for ADC
