Count me in as someone who doesn't care about changes to the HD bay. Also, it doesn't look terribly difficult to replace yourself in the current design anyways.

It really isn't that bad to replace in the current ones. Of course, I wouldn't expect my relatives to carve open a PB/MBP. I've been ripping open Apples since the Mac Plus - the MacCracker was a must!

But the in the MB's, Apple for it right. Even better than all of the PC laptops that I've ever dealt with.

OMG dis sux0rzzz!!!!1!1!!!!!!!111

AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where is teh c2d? where???

why, steve? why do u insist on torturing me like this?

*g4 powerbook spontaneously combusts*

Wheres the beef?

yes I have to say, this is getting quite ridiculous, myself. As a little old lady once screeched into our ears:

"WHERES THE BEEF?!!!!!"

....may she rest in peace

What about tomorrow? Its a tuesday.

True! But scott523 is looking to buy this weekend... Hopefully his money will go for a CD2 machine!!!

And of course, Apple has released new stuff on days other than Tuesdays...

Ah yes the good ole days of the G5 PB Tuesdays... [ducks for cover]

Dont worry people hang in there, its almost here i can feel it. Then again you could just get a refurb and skip this revision altogether. Afterall, Penryn+Santa Rosa is where its @:p

Today Is Columbus Day

Today is a national holiday which normally leads to a one day delay in the new release - like the iMacs came out Wednesday after Labor Day.

Thinking like this keeps me from expecting it tomorrow so i get one more day with a lower anxiety level.

Well then Apple had to redesign the ventilation system for C2D which could explain the delay in release. Thanks for setting me straight. Couldn't you guys provide links like I did to the articles showwing it hotter?

Here is an interesting article on PCmag. Problem is that its hard to tell what would happen in a MBP since they arent out yet. But it appears Dell, Gateway, Winbook and Alienware are all having heat issues with C2D where they did not in CD notebooks.

There are more. I'll find them for you if I can.

I found that with 20% Discount (ADC) i dont save much more... i would rather get it without hassle of ADC member ship and i would want a warrenty

get it with HE discount its much better IMHO

But i just wish Apple would hurry, i dont even mind if they show me design specs etc now so i can plan my purchase then they can ship in a week or few
Prices, product offerings, and program terms are subject to change at Apple's discretion. Prices for particular product purchases are those in effect at the time of shipment. All products are accompanied by Apple's standard limited hardware warranty for those products. Purchases made outside of the ADC Hardware Purchase Program will not be re-booked or credited at developer pricing. There are no refunds or exchanges on items purchased through the ADC Hardware Purchase Program. (From adc purchase program.)

Do you notice that it says that all products are accompanied by apple's standard limited hardware warranty. that means 1 year for mbp. i don't know where your getting this "warrantiless macbook pro" information from. The only mbp's without warranties are ones with user upgraded hard drives and in february of next year the first mbp's that came out, the warranty will be gone.

Don't they have a pill for that too?? :p

Maybe the heat issues with the c2d are forcing Apple into an unscheduled redesign. Maybe thats what's taking so long. Then again, I really have no clue.

Current model on clearance

Got excited today. In Curry's (UK Electrical store) the current MBP 15" (2.16 Core Duo Stock) was in a clearance sale. Could just be clearing stock, but I am hoping for something else :)

MBP price drop after c2d comes out?

Hey all,

I've been looking into buying my very first mac after being a lifelong PC user (intel was the clincher as I can still run windows if I need to!). I really like the MBP but its a bit expensive for me and I missed the rebate deal that brought it down to a reasonable 1500 price range. Should I expect the MBP current gen to drop in price when the new ones come out? Just as the 1.83gigahertz MBP was dropped in price before they canned it?

Any ideas on the best deal to get on these and where to look? I don't need to buy this anytime soon but I will if the right deal comes along.

Greatly appreciate any help!

One of my buddies who works at an authorized reseller said that the price of the current rev. will drop until Apple stops shipping them. There's also the option of a refurb. Those are basically like new, just a brown box.
