Interestingly enough i watched the start of that intel conference (up until Peter Schiller finished talking because he is cool) and this Core-2-duo extreme chipi was stated for a November launch, Quad Core. So maybe that's what the holdup is. I really wouldn't mind waiting till november if they are doing that.

got myself a Crumpler Base Toucher ready!

Nice:)

I'm hoping that the bitolithic sleeves will be ready soon, so that I can buy one and use it with my existing backpack.

it's kind of odd, i feel really good about tomorrow; and with good reason, a lot of signs are pointing to it. But with all of our recent disapointments, I can't help but not be excited...

Good to know. Any idea on what the price drop usually bottoms to? I had no problem going with the 1.83 MBP as the power isn't incredibly important to me. I want the bigger screen and feel of the MBP over the MB. How reliable are refurbs and where do I go for those? Warranty still the same? Is the extended apple warranty (applecare right?) worth the money?

Thanks!

Anyone? Or am I posting in the wrong forum here...

What I would like to order as soon as possible:

15" model
2.33ghz Core 2 Duo
2gb RAM
160gb 5400rpm HDD (if it's a fast one; otherwise the biggest 7200rpm HDD)
Fastest gfx-card Apple will offer (I hope it's better than the current underclocked x1600 since I depend on a fast gfx card)
Removable HDD would be nice

I'm still hoping for a 1680x1050 screen option (I had that resolution before in a 15" pc-notebook and can't imaging going a step back; 17" is a no-go)

Price: I hope it's not higher than around 2500eur including student discounts and AppleCare

It will never happen.

My guess is more like 1gb ram standard, and 120gb hard drive.

I'm just going to buy a refurb from apple wed. if its not released. It just makes more sense to me. This is my logic....if it is updated sometime late oct. with just a core 2 duo upgrade and nothing else, I'll feel great about the purchase of the refurb. mbp because its such a small change. The Macbook pro will hold me over until the major revision. The other posibility is if they come out with a totally new design in 2 weeks. I'll stick with the refurb until the bugs are worked out, then I'll and use that money towards the new MBP. I would just rather a totally new machine tommorow, but I'm getting more and more comfortable with what I outlined above. I do not think there will be an update tommorow, but I do think its coming this month.

That's a desktop chip...

God 1GB of Ram and a 120GB would really make sales amazing....with that spec i would actually be OVER HAPPY :D .... maybe i'm just a push over for spending my money on Apple products though.

But really , those things as standards would save me alot of money with the Built to Order stuff. . .because one GB is really a nessecity with the intel...but with the G4 512mb was nessecary so i think we are actually owed it. :D

Core 2 Quad Has Nothing To Do With Mobiles

You need to watch more. Check out Pat P. Gelsinger's Keynote from Wednesday September 27.

Got your FREE Flip4Mac installed so they play in QuickTime Player?

Quad core is not in the mobile front and won't be for another two years or more - my guess. It's Dual Clovertown for the Mac Pro workstation and Xserve total 8-cores and Kentsfield for the - Apple-has-not-yet-adopted - client - total 4-cores in one package that may not be paired to make 8. Intel ships both next month - November 2006. Apple could offer them as soon as next month by simply adding the option to their Mac Pro and Xserve configure pages. They are socket compatible with the existing Mac Pro and Xserve products - no hardware nor software modifications needed for them to work immediately. OS X lets you use all 8-cores immediately.

Quad has nothing to do with mobiles. I will be earliest adopter of the Dual Quad Core Clovertown Mac Pro as soon as Apple releases that option for the Mac Pro. This will be one of the few times I have bought a Mac the day it shipped, but I am already out of power with the G5 Quad and understand a real need for those 8-cores at once due to a Multi-Threaded Workload.

I'm pulling the trigger on a MacBook tomorrow (I'm picking one up on my way home tommorrow from School). I've trying to hold out for a while but I've decided to get my wet. The way things are, we'll be waiting for another 38 more tuesdays...

802.11n?

with the updates will we be seeing 802.11n or is it still too soon??
im planning on macbooking it... and i assume other than the c2d chip there won't be too much change on the MB... but its the 801.11n that i would really want outside merom (and 1gb standard ram, and larger standard HD, and a price drop would be nice  )

Just installed Vista RC2 on my MBP. Smooth for the most part but like classic windows its all about hunting for drivers. Sigh....i sure as hell miss brightness control and two finger scrolling.

My bet is they will come out tomorrow... Here's why:

Because I just bought a 2.0GHz White Macbook today.
My wife has been wanting a newer smaller computer and she went nuts over the Macbook. I had intended to use the Macbook until the new ones came out and then give it to her and get myself the new one, but she trumped me and wants the Macbook now, not later! Oh well... At least she likes it. I wasn't sure. She LOVES the simplisity of the layout and operation. Pretty cool.
Anyway, that is why are coming out tomorrow... It's because I bought one today!

You must not be paying attention to Apple's offerings this year. 1GB ram and 120GB HD have been standard all year long.

You did of course mean on the 17" MBP right?

Since last weekend, the Apple Store has closed on several occasions, both during the day and the night, for long and short periods of time. This was the case with both the US and the European stores.
But this isn't the first time that we can recall so many closures happening in such a short time.
Apple is probably making many updates, which are still invisible. We hope that they will bring new services to us
A bit more idle speculation from HardMac. It could all just be routine maintenance or some behind the scenes stage prep.

I want to sleep tonight!!! I would feel 100% confident no updates, but all those store updates this weekend is making me speculate. It couldn't just be for new ads....but maybe thats really all it was. I JUST DONT KNOW!
