I want to sleep tonight!!! I would feel 100% confident no updates, but all those store updates this weekend is making me speculate. It couldn't just be for new ads....but maybe thats really all it was. I JUST DONT KNOW!

There's going to be nothing, just sleep

:) I'm joking...I'm not sure if you saw my post before but im buying a notebook tommorow regardless. Anyway, goodluck to everyone...I'll be sleeping like a baby.

She LOVES the simplisity of the layout and operation. Pretty cool.

Sadly my wife hates the simplicity of the Powerbook I have, the single button does her head in, so if there were a Macbook with a typical PC trackpad, she would go Mac tomorrow. Not going to happen, though, is it!

Simple update

Hmm.. Wouldn't it be nice if the new MMBP had a two button trackpad? Just like before, with a little slit down the middle.. Just enough to tell everyone its a merom and not the "other" processor.

Buddy if it had two buttons, then it wouldn't be a mac.

And besides, leopard's gonna have right click feature: just place to fingers on the trackpad, and click normally.

(snip) Sigh....i sure as hell miss brightness control and two finger scrolling.

Yeah - Apple does some cool stuff with their hardware & OS alright! There is a guy at work who would love to be able to put OS X on the PC of his own construction and thinks Apple is stupid for not licensing it. He thinks that I'm a just an Apple lacky. I try to tell him that Steve is all about the whole user experience - it simply works and works simply. And the things you mention go hand in hand with that.

That being said, seeing as how I'm a PC developer, I look forward to my first Intel Mac to be able to run Access and .NET/C# for the ocasional home programming projects (when I'm not learning XCode, of course!)

I could not agree more!

Ooh, I had not read that about the new right-clicking in Leopard - SLICK! ;) Something tells me there must be a utility like this out there for Tiger. Anyone?

Apple is as secretive as they are so that they are not pressured to release new products before those products are absolutely perfect. Those other companies don't take that much pride in their products.

...Then how do you explain all those Macbook overheat and shutdown problems? :D

Um... oops?

Either that or (obviously) the problems didn't happen in the ones tested.

Defecation occurs, but less with a Mac. :)

Hmm

Yeah, but a year ago someone might say "if it boots to windows, it wouldn't be a mac," but I saw one just the other day :)

Let's face it, Apple innovates but also adopts...

This may not mean anything but I've recently seen a whole slew of new macbook pros flood the ebay market. Could this mean some are clearing stock for the new line? Not sure, just thought I'de share even though my questions on here go largely unanswered and ignored haha... cheers.

Nah... no indication of menron MBP's... sounds more like an indication of an imminent natural disaster... most likely an earthquake... somewhere in the southern hemisphere, maybe the northern... judging by the fact that you noticed this on ebay I would say that it also points to a magnitude of 6.2-8.2 on the richter scale... could be a bad week for some... we thought the good tymes would last forever... you had to point this out... you had to go ruin it for us... thanks a lot!

with the updates will we be seeing 802.11n or is it still too soon??
im planning on macbooking it... and i assume other than the c2d chip there won't be too much change on the MB... but its the 801.11n that i would really want outside merom (and 1gb standard ram, and larger standard HD, and a price drop would be nice  )

I'm going to get flamed about my opinion, but I really hope they don't invest too much into 802.11n...yet.
It's still in pre-draft in the IEEE, things can change...even drastically. The point is, we don't know what the final draft will be. You could have a completely useless chip.

Hopefully, if they do decide to do this, they make it downgrade very nicely.

A Sign!!

I have witnessed a sign!

I was reading this thread, looked up, and my TV had an Intel Core 2 Duo commercial on!!!

Truly it is imminent!!!

I REALLY hope not!

If i recall correctly they released new ads just before the imac got the core 2 upgrade so i think it is almost a sure thing that we will be seeing some new products tomorrow. Heres to hoping for a mmbp or mmb

i don't think they'll go with both if their releasing something tomorrow. I also don't think that they'll release the macbook first. It would make no sense whatsoever.

Hey guys I really would not be surprised if the upgrades were any day now

My local futureshop is heavily discounting the macbooks and macbook pros recently.

Ok so maybe you think this doesn't say much, but when does apple allow resellers to discount their products? Anyhow I hope it turns out to be true, I can't say I'd be surprised if they updated any day now. They're already weeks behind :D

What?!?!?!?!?! Releasing an ad campaign and new products at the same time? Sure dude, like that makes any sense.

Makes most sense to relase MBPs nowish and MB before the holiday shopping season.

I think if they miss the C2D boat for either the MBP or MB for this holiday season, Apple will regret it when they look at the bottom line come January.

exactly. If apple doesn't make a move by tomorrow or wednesday i wouldn't count on merom mbp's and mb's until santa rosa which will be a dramatic upgrade because of the Robson. Then steve will be able to say they "4-5 times faster than core duo." Maybe not 4-5 times faster but i'd say maybe 2x faster.
