just called the uk number for apple to do a little stock check, they said that they could have a mbp to me in 3 days, they have all of the standard machines in stock and a few with different options, the delays in some orders have been through the back to school promotion.
They were keen to take my money and for me to order, if they do release today I dont think I would be happy if i did not get the new one!

Dont know why but I am really not hopeful about seeing them released today. Just got that gut feeling.

I was at my local apple store a week or so ago, and in talking to one of the nicer employees about the MBP merom upgrade, he told me they had plenty of iMac's in stock when they got C2D.

I would love to get one ordered today, but can not bring myself to order the older model, it has to be a peice of kit that I can keep for about 3 years, so do not feel right buying a model thats jsut about to be replaced, as its nearly 9 months old.

Why do you guys assume the update would be today? Monday was a holiday in the U.S. and if there were an update, it would probably be Wednesday.

Reason for delay?
Switching manufacturers could be the only reason for a delay, as opposed to the much wanted redesign ideas.
