Guys, sorry to burst your bubble but I ordered my MacBook Pro 17'' on Sunday and Apple shipped it yesterday.

I don't think they'd do that if they were going to release a new model today or tomorrow.

Says the guy who just got SCREWED

Nice to find some optimism in our bloody cynical culture. Optimism or delusion? are they homonyms?

Well, I will tell you this Apple... I don't have a multibillion dollar organization...

Richie Cunningham: He does

But if I ever do, I’m either going to tell my customers that I'm going to upgrade a product, or I’m going to promise to upgrade a product and then not upgrade a product. But the one thing that I will NEVER do is not tell them that I’m going to upgrade a product, and then not upgrade a product!

that states MBP for £929 inc vat, but when I look at the page, I can only see ones for £1,118 and £1,156 I thought in the UK that if you show a price you should have something for that amount.

The only reason is i am now thinking about a refurb and then sell it later (or give it to the GF)

and in them prices there is £200 difference.

Also looks like the store is staying up today

These companies are all conspiring against me. I've been waiting since August to buy my first Mac, which will be a 17" MBP. I'm also waiting for T-mobile to start selling the new Motorola KAZR phones which are already being sold by other providers. At least my PC keeps me working but my cell phone battery is near death. Come on you guys!

another 1 1/2 hrs until its 9am in Cupertino, there is still chance but i doubt it for today

If my memory is correct, when Apple does the silent roll outs via a press release, don't they go out ~7:00am Pacific Time? Well, they did a while back anyway...

Here's hoping for something, sometime, somehow... :)

I feel like I'm waiting for fresh food to be put out!

Waiting for C2D is like waiting for fresh food on a buffet line. The cook (Apple) is watching from the kitchen to see when how many of the old chicken wings (MBPs) are left before the fresh wings (C2D MBPs) are put out. :D

I going to see a counselor today about the emotional stress this wait has put upon me!

I Told You It Wouldn't Be Before Wednesday And Not Predicting Either

Why do you guys assume the update would be today? Monday was a holiday in the U.S. and if there were an update, it would probably be Wednesday.
That's what I tried to tell everyone but half the folks just ignored me. Plus I am not predicting it will be tomorrow either. I'm done trying to second guess Apple. :)

One Day Closer To An 8-Core Mac Pro. :D

Warranty

I personally wouldnt buy a mac from ebay. No warranty and u dont really know whats wrong with it. ALso you would have to get the applecare transfered to u if they even have it. Big hassel. Just get a refurb mb/mbp from apple store or macmall.

Even if its new in the box? Most listings state that the warranty is still valid. What's the best deal I could get on a MBP refurb? Thanks!

Above all, make sure the seller rating is very high when you are buying a high-dollar item. Also, check their history out. Some sellers have high ratings but they have not sold much, just bought a lot of small items. See how many high-dollar items they sold. If they have not sold anything in the last "I think" six months (item number greyed out), I would be very cautious.

I guessed you missed this one then. It was the second from last in the list of MBP refurbs.

edit: ok so it's a 1.83GHz and not 2GHz...

New MB's and MBP's

I really don't see anything coming out soon. In terms of a product refresh, ie
new cosmetic changes to accompany the C2D, MW07 is in a few months and
that would be the best platform to announce it. Apple is still selling MB's
and MBP's like hotcakes. The few everyone hears from on this forum are
less then .1% of Apple user's, the other 99.9% are busy working. The
.1 percenters you keep hearing from on this forum have waaaay too much
time on there hands.

grrr

I don't know how much longer I can wait! I realize that not announcing product changes ahead of time helps sell old models and adds to the mystery that is Apple, but as a person who is prepared to switch TODAY, and being very aware of all the PC's that have the latest components, I have to say that the secrecy of Apple and all of the unknowns may actually be hazardous to my health. :p

Another thing that not announcing products does is that if there is a snag in the development of the product (ie if there really are new heat issues with the Meroms or some such engineering hurdle) then the fact that they haven't announced that product doesn't cause them to lose face. Unless the information gets leaked, the people (us) have no idea why the product doesn't yet exist. I'm not saying that anything is wrong - I'm just saying that is another reason why announcing isn't always a good thing from the supplier's point of view.

i have noticed that apple is really the only computer company that has this kind of following. i've had numerous laptops before - sony, dell, etc... not many forums filled with people like us who are hoping and looking for the slightest clues as to when the next version will be released. in some ways it makes switching to a mac fun, all while giving me an ulcer.
