Peripherals!?

Anyone see anything about new keyboards, mice, or bluetooth goodies added to the pot?? (Looks to me like they are shipping with the ugly eMac keyboards...) :(

Apple Store Palo Alto: "We don't have them yet. On display"

He might have meant they're in the back room, but the guy on the phone wasn't all that forthcoming about when they would have them on display.

I guess shipping still means what the dictionary says it means, even if you're an Apple Store.

A fellow checked his order in the apple store today, a Dual 2Ghz, and the ship date had been changed to early September , from early December.

New dual 2.0 orders now are getting "on or before" end of Oct. That is consistant with Apple's website which says 7-10 weeks shipping time. I'm sorry to say, but your "friend" is messin' with ya. No way he would have got an early Dec.

What is really baffling me is that Steve said we'd be to 3Ghz by years end. How is that possible if they are still filling 2Ghz orders in DECEMBER? I hear the sounds of a broken promise.. anyone else?

Now we know why all these threads get so many negative votes. People are a little

Nothing here yet at the Apple store in Easton Town Centre (Ohio). If they are truly 'now shipping' they should be in stores tomorrow since Apple ships new product via FedEx.

DVR-105's are down to $143

Not ordering the Superdrive is actually a pretty good idea on machins that can handle dual optical drives. You get the Combo drive and $200, and Superdrives are now selling at around $185...save $15 and get a free CD-writing DVD player! Or wait a year and they'll probably be about $100. If you're short on cash, and buying a new Mac will do that to you, $200 is nothing to sneeze at.
Pioneer DVR-105 is down to $143 now. But the SuperDrive in the G5 is not a Pioneer DVR-105. It's a SONY I don't know what model number yet. And yes it's wise to order the Combo because you save $200 and you get a free Combo when you swap it out for a SuperDrive you buy aftermarket for less than $200.

Then just throw the Combo in a FireWire case and you're all set with two drives that both read DVDs and CDs so copying is not a problem in either format with Toast 6.

OK It's Shipping (theoretically) When Is It Delivering?

OK It's Shipping (theoretically) When Is It Delivering?

I see no evidence it is shipping because no one has reported a delivery and even the Apple Stores near Cupertino have no clue when they are going to get any.

if you guys want, post picture and application requests and i will fullfill them as soon as the g5 comes through the door.

I want a 52x external Audio CD AIFF rip to 160kbps AAC file X factor report. What is the average X number (max-min) in the iTunes window over the length of several tracks?

If you have no such FW CD-RW drive, I'll settle for what it rips from the Internal SuperDrive (16x) or Combo (32x) Drive.

They should be shipping (and I'd expect the dual 2ghz G5s are coming quite soon) due to Apple trying to charge my Apple Loan last night...
I'm just curious why they tacked on another 70 bucks for my G5 (i'm guessing another charge for shipping... I ordered an ipod at the same time... looks like I dropped a heap on shipping an ipod then). I'd get that question answered, but it appears that the folks at apple that handle order issues are in a meeting today... great timing.

I briefly played with one at the local Yodobashi Camera (Japan) on Sunday. Seeing a Sony drive in it surprised me... I think the model was DWU 10 ??

Do you know this for sure? Based on the specs, it looks like a Pioneer A06, not a Sony. +R/RW will prolly be disabled though. :(

I'm pretty sure it's a SONY. I read that somewhere. And it's verified above by the guy in Japan who discovered it on a G5 Sunday. You can tell it's not a DVR-105 because the specs are different in the details listed at the Apple Store MORE INFO section.

what i am wondering, is if there is going to be a 10.3 coupon in there... that would help me more than anything else you'll tell me! hit me up when you know... just post here or PM me. thanks.

edit: also, could you check and see what the model number of the superdrive is?? thanks!

So we make it to 9:30 p.m. Central time and still noone with an announcement that they either a) got theirs, or b) went to the store and saw it on display. So are they still on the trucks?

Is it only though Apple that you can get rid of features ?
I have seen it with some resellers, but not as much as Apple is doing it.
I really don't want a modem, it's only $30 you save, but still.

I bought my Power Mac G4 (digital audio, 533Mhz) without a modem option. Last week when I was dusting it out I noticed It has the modem module in the back (screwed into a different position to hide the jack) and the cable going nowhere. If someone can show me a layout of this motherboard (like, where the modem connector lives because I can't seem to find it) I might have a free modem.

update on the superdrive dealie... i'm almost 100% positive after a lot of investigation that apple is using the sony DW-U10A, which is the OEM version of the DRU-500A. it was sony's first muti-format dvd burner (i'm sure OS X just disables the dvd+r), and it retails for a shade over $200.
