lol. no pleasing everyone on this forum I guess.

Fine, in my personal opinion, I would rather have a stock iphone rather than a stock Android device just based on my past experience.

It was intended to be a broad statement. I'm not going to sit down and compare every Android device to the each iphone model.

Generally speaking, imo, a stock iphone is almost perfect in that there are few or no deficiencies besides a lack of 4G, limited customizing, etc. And a stock Android device is going to be slightly less smooth than an iphone (please don't jump on me, i'm just speaking generally pre-ICS).

However, by customizing the Android, you can almost catch up to the iphone in many ways, and in many ways, you can surpass it.

Gosh, I feel like I have to be a politician here and appease both sides of the crowd. lol. :)

yea but thing is, you don't need a custom ROM to customize Android. It does it well without it. I'm using several different keyboards alone with no custom ROM. Two different swype keyboards, One is called slideit, the stock keyboard, One called Betterkeyboard and Swiftkey. All of them very good. And customizing the sms is just something stock iphone can't begin to touch . Thats just two examples so needless to say,I very much disagree.

Who said you need a custom ROM to customize?

Android does fine these days out of the box (in many ways). It also has deficiencies in many ways. Finding a custom ROM, or swapping out a keyboard or whatever, can make the device better for an individual compared to , say, the iphone.

Ex: My Droid Charge was terrible in many ways out of the box. The stock browser is a joke, and is widely acknowledged to freeze/hang up. Easily substituted with Dolphin.

Other than that, changing the Launcher, and flashing custom ROMS (currently Infinity) has really sped the device up and improved the theme of the phone. Flashing a new kernel has dramatically improved battery life. I was getting under 8 hours stock. I am not getting roughly 1+ days now on Imoseyon's kernel. V6 supercharger has eliminated any launcher lag/redraws. It's now as speedy, if not speedier, than my gf's iphone 4. Not only that, but I can customize the screen switching animation, and I get the benefit of pinch-in expose.

I can't really complain about the iphone out of the box. Sure, it lacks customizable keyboards, etc., but all the stock stuff accomplishes almost everything without complaint.

All I am saying is that stock for stock, you are likely to have complaints about Android (like with my browser and launcher lag) and less so with the iphone--customization aside.

Again, just my personal opinion. Your mileage may vary. But I've been pretty fair and objective, and I am sure you can agree with many things I have said. If you haven't seen my other posts, I am planning on getting the Nexus, so please don't nit-pick everything I say as if I am a fanboy. I am a fan and user of both platforms, and can acknowledge the advantages and deficiencies of each.

What Android are you on, just out of curiosity.

Don't make your decision based solely on other people's review. Try to get your hands on both phones in store and test them out. See which you prefer. Just because it has a bigger screen doesn't necessarily make it better than any other phone if you have small hands or if it feels uncomfortable.

The problem with what you're saying is that the Droid Charge isn't a stock android device. There are only 3 stock android devices (meaning pure vanilla android and no manufacturer framework or overlay) and they are the Nexus One, Nexus S, and Galaxy Nexus. I would never recommend the Droid Charge to anyone...flat out it sucks lol. So yeah if you compare your experiences out of the box to that phone then it should do poorly considering it really isn't even a high end phone. It's a phone with last year's specs running lte. The Nexus S is much older than the Charge and it runs circles around the charge, and gets MUCH better battery life. All in all, if you're going to discuss stock android then currently the phone you'd be talking about is the Galaxy Nexus, which stock is definitely a better phone than the iPhone. There is no need to put any custom roms or tweaks for it to be "good". Then add the fact that you can change whatever you want on it (without having to mod it), it definitely places it on higher ground in my opinion. All in all, I agree with what you said about the Droid Charge, as I believe it's an awful phone.

oh my god

I don't even have a response to this. enjoy.

If you game alot, iPhone 4S > Galaxy Nexus.

Else, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the one. And this phone is supported by Google, not Samsung. It will be updated.

It's impossible to get a Samsung Galaxy Nexus for testing. It's sold out everywhere. When they get a new shipment, it's already gone too.

Is this all Android phone owners do is customize the UI? Don't these people actually USE the thing? Yes, Android is more customizable. Doesn't make it easier or better, just more customizable.

Really? Imagine someone using Android, they don't like the keyboard, they can change it. Boom! It's better. Imagine someone doesn't like the launcher, they can change it. It's better.

More Customizable=better.

****** apps = no better. See, iPhone users USE their phone, Android users CUSTOMIZE their phone. There is a huge difference.

So you're saying people but Android Smartphones just to customize them? That's absurd.

Actually customization can make a device easier or better to use. For example, with the way my home screen is set up it gives me a good bit of fuctionality. I have tickers for local news, forex market news, time with weather and severe weather alerts. So at a quick glance I know what's going on in my community, I know any important news that occurs in the forex market, time and current weather, and if there are any severe weather alerts (ie tornado watch) it will give me an alert. This is the type of functionality customization gives me the choice of having. This is the type of functionality I cannot get on any other platform.

Saying lack of functionality is an advantage is just absurd (btw you sound like *LTD*)

 No dude, i use the phone just as much for other things as i did my iPhone and the reason i customize things is because I CAN!! And when i do that, it makes it better. Im currently using the Slideit keyboard after months of using Swiftkey...which is good itself but i wanted to use something different for a while. Too bad you cant do that.
I have a different notification tone for different things so when i hear it, i know what it is. It just makes things that much easier and better. There isnt anything i did on my iPhone that i cant do or dont do on my Android and actually i can do more.

When notifications were coming to iPhone, it was like christmas in here and before that many were asking for these things so why even ask that?
And rest assured the ones saying they dont want a bigger screen will be all giddy when iPhone gets a 4" screen and once again say it is the perfect size and 3.5" was a little too small.

Difference is you dont know what your talking about. Maybe thats what YOU did. Some of us actually use our phone for something other than texting and taking pictures.

what news ticker are you using there?

A guy I work with has a new custom ROM on his phone every week. Then he shows me a screen shot of his benchmark test. Pretty much all he does with his phone. I would say he has a new custom ROM 3 to 5 times a month. Spends most of his downtime on xda developers site to customize his phone. I have an Android, and it sucks. Too much work in trying to do something. The iPhone just works, everything is there in an easy to find app store, then the apps are easy to find and launch and they just work great. Yeah there isn't much you can do with the UI, but it's works way better than an Android device.

Out of curiosity which android phone do you have? As for what you stated about the iPhone, that's quite a sweeping statement. So could you specifically state what it is that the iPhone does so much better than the Galaxy Nexus?

You are talking about phone and hardware specs. I can't stand the Android OS. Even if the Nexus has better specs, you still have to deal with a ****** OS. It's like buying a Lamborghini with a 1.5 liter 4 banger engine. iOS is the V12 of operating systems.

You've still not said anything. I never made mention one time about specs.......my question still stands. You never stated which "android" phone you have. Also, you still never stated exactly what's done so much better on the iPhone that can't be done on the Galaxy Nexus. Sounds like you have no experience with the Galaxy Nexus and are speaking from a position of ignorance. Furthermore, it sounds like your experience with Android is quite limited too, for you to be making broad brush statements. I'll await your answer to my questions.
