Just grab a few extra batteries. I have a total of 7 batteries for my note 3. I ordered 3 sets of 2. One is constantly charging at home, one is constantly charging at work, and I run one on a inverter in the car if I'm out and about. If I travel I bring my charger, and 3-4 batteries. It is so liberating to never plug my phone in just swap whenever it gets low.

I forget how much I paid but it was under $100 for all 3 sets.

Edit I went and looked and ordered another set. The 3200 mah batteries I got are $29 for 2 and a charger.

Now they have 4200 mah batteries that still fit the case.

New note 3 owner here, mine came with 4.3 but when I try to update it states current one is the latest and when I try with kies its the same, when I had a nexus 4 I had to sort of force the updates sometimes by clearing cache etc on google framework services but that trick I guess does not work with touchwiz how can I update ? Manually ?

It depends on your model / firmware / CSC if 4.4.2 is available.

You can check here as long as you know your models region whether 4.4.2 is actually available

7 batteries! I have a spare that I use, often. But, in a day, there's only 24 hours. Do you change your battery every 3.5 hours?

If you are around your battery chargers all the time can't you just plug your phone in? Hehe, that's nuts.

Anyone have a fix for the serious lag now after the update? I now freaking hate my phone after this. It took me like 20 seconds to wake the screen up one time. Help!!!

Sorry to hear that. My note actually seems a bit smoother (probably just my imagination). Did you install any new apps?

I updated my note manually and it feels the same, I didn't but I see people on XDA that recommend wipe data/factory reset after uodate /flashing.

Yeah, they do recommend it, but I didn't and mine runs as well as ever. However, it's amazing how a badly written app can wreak havoc on a device.

I play safe, I always ask or search reviews for apps before downloading

Btw if I set hangouts as default msg app do I need to disable messages ?

No new updates. It was right after the update the lag started.

Well its not that if it was perfectly smooth and fast before the update.

can't understand why going to bed on 19% the battery died about 5am...and the android system was using over 30% of the battery.

weird.

day before it was great.

Sometimes backup / sync can get itself in a muddle and likewise location history can cause excessive drain all of which show up as android services. If you are experiencing peculiar drain first thing to try is a simple power off / power on. Secondly go into location settings and turn location history off and then go into accounts / sync and either turn off / turn on it simply manually refresh. hopefully that should resolve the issue...

Would I still need that if GPS is off?

As I do have sync turned off. not sure why the system is just using so much %. Was never that high before.

I had similar problems with my s4 and i tried all sorts of tips such as turning off location history,GPS, Google now, you name it, but my os usage was still around 40-50%. I've now got a note 2 and have everything switched on, yet my is usage is around 7%. So there's something strange going on and it might be partly due to KitKat, as I'm now back on 4.3

Yes.

With location history on it will continuously scan and attempt to use WiFi hotspots to pinpoint your loaction...

Well I've switched location history off.. Will that help?

How about GPS mode?

Leave GPS off if you are not using GPS. Basically switch them off and I'd reboot the device so your starting from a clean slate and then monitor its usage. If it still is draining you know its something else and can turn them back on - it is doesn't drain - leave them off if you don't need them.

What is normal for Android system? As since updating it's never been below 20-25%

On my GE S4 it is around 13% at the moment with the phone been off charge since 7am .... Thats with everything on .... (location history/gps/google now)

What is normal on the Note 3 kitkat update ?? In theory it shouldn't sit too much higher than what it was on JB (if not better than JB) but of course it all depends on screen on time, and other usage to factor the percentage of usage (if nothing else is getting used, android services will naturally be higher) but if your using the phone in a normal manner, anywhere between 10-20% at the end of the day seems fair.

It's down to 24% at the moment..

Not sure what else to check

See how you get on after a number of hours, because in all likelihood that usage will drop as the phone gets used for other things (screen on time etc..)

Do you have Skype installed ? That reportedly causes battery drain in KitKat..
