How do you like it? I'm considering the same for s4 because of all the lag.

I've lost NFC and HDR mode, hoping HDR will return in later milestones though.

HDR is the only thing Im slightly bothered about losing for now. It's pretty stable for a CM build, I'd say it's 90% of the way there. Certainly daily driver material.

Nice, I don't like regular CM since to me it's too plain and prefer CM based like AOKP, AOSP, Paranoid, Resurrection and Pac-Man ROMs due to their customizations.

But, I'm really curious to see what CM did for OPO.

You're on stock TW? if so and you like TW, try TW ROMs by devs at XDA S4 forums. You could also try AOKP, AOSP ROMs which are CM based there also. I ran Paranoid, Resurrection and Pac-Man ROM on my S4 before selling.

Damm it seems that when you install a custom rom even if it's TouchWiz based you lose the screen mirror function.

Any other way to mirror to TV? Without cables of course.

I use a Skyrocket with a rom and in the settings it has a screen cast option but my tv doesnt support it. I bet that is common in a lot of roms

Yeah I actually have the option but it crashes when I select my TV (Samsung) after some research it seems that unless you are stock the option is broken.

Currently using an AOKP based rom on mine. Was working good (no NFC) until the camera app stopped working :/

Thinking of switching to CM. One thing I like about my current rom compared to the stock touchwiz is the smoothness and phenomenal battery life. How's the battery life on CM?

That must depend on the ROM. I am using Crash ROM and mirroring works fine.

I experienced battery life issues on the official Samsung 4.4 update, so cm has better battery life than I got before. Not as good as the phenominal battery life I got on 4.3.

So far I've got 40% left, been off the charger for 15 hours, 3 hours on screen time. I work in a building with very poor service though.

Do I need a special cable and/or charger with the Note 3 for the car? I have a 2.1amp usb adapter and a usb cable specifically made for charging. If the screen is off it charges, kind of slow maybe 10% in 20-30 minutes, but if I have the screen on it only keeps the Note 3 from decharging if that makes sense, even then it still decharges very slowly. Is there a cable/adapter that would keep charging it with the screen on?

Does anyone know how to shut off the imminent alert from the default messaging app? I unchecked all 3 items, can't uncheck presidential alerts, and rebooted the phone. However, it keeps going off despite muting my phone. This is crazy dumb while in the office.

Despite the fact that it isn't raining at all where I am at, I am getting flash flood warnings every 5 minutes. Hangouts is my default messaging app, and I couldn't even access the settings unless I switched the default.

Thanks in advance!

I charge my Note 3 with a 2A cigar lighter USB adapter and a cable from my old Note 2 and it provides enough power to charge the phone even if the screen is on and I'm using Google Maps for navigation. Try getting Galaxy Charging Current from the store and see what rate your adapter is actually charging the note at - I suspect it will be quite low

Hmm, I'll have to give it a try. The 2A adapter is off amazon, maybe it's a cheap one.

Holy crap, the Verizon Note 3 KitKat OTA came today! This is the most unbelievable thing to happen to me in some time, I thought for sure we'd never receive KitKat on this phone! :p

I have a 2A USB thing for my car, and I use the cable that came with it. Charges faster than it drains even with the screen on using maps.

It ended up being a crappy cable. I have a "charging" one from Amazon, but it was barely keeping the N3 from decharging when the screen was on. I replaced it with the stock charging cable and now it slowly charges while the screen and navigation are on.

Thanks for that. I'm getting about the same. I get about 5 hours screen on time and I'm usually in poor signal areas during the weekdays as well.

I think I'll go ahead and flash CM. Sounds like yours is pretty stable.

I get around 5 hours and 1 day usage on average too.

Very happy with that personally

Please correct me if am wrong but once your device is rooted, I understand it's vulnerable to malware and viruses as you are effectively logged on as an admin.

Is there a workaround?

Apps have to ask for admin permission, so if you specifically allow the malware app Admin rights, then yes you could get hit hard.

I see, thanks for the kind explanation...so there is an increased risk...I guess some particularly clever malware can disguise themselves quite well...

But if you download only from trusted sources, like the Google Play Store or the Amazon App Store, you should be fine. If you download apps from shady websites, you could be hit hard.

Does this look normal with 2 Android operating systems? My battery is on the fritz again after being fine for 2 days. No new apps downloaded or settings changed.

Already at 88% and I've only had it off the charger for 2 hours with a little Google music.

Seems to be happening again with no major changes to downloading new apps or usage of the phone.

These battery problems are so sporadic with this thing its getting very annoying. Maybe I have a bad battery after 6 months?

Frustrating to say the least as I really was enjoying this phone but its becoming an uphill battle lately in keeping me on Android for my next device.
