But then id have two devices? And a dumb phone wouldn't have all the messaging apps I use and visual voicemail.

i'm very happy with the iPhone I just don't scare at the screen continuously all day like kids and since about the iPhone 5 i've never once thought "I wish this screen was better quality" to be honest. We're talking incremental barely eye perceivable differences at this point, not the jump to retina that was which really wowed you. I don't think its going to impact my life at all at this point to have 20% more brightness on my phone.

Fair enough - but I don't think you're in the majority. Also - with VR gaining ground, there's a definite argument for much better resolution screens.

Um ... data plans. Is that really a hard concept for people to grasp? Physical storage will always be required by those with limited data plans. Cell reception is also another issue.

Uh ... more functionality ... for starters. It opens the door to using your phone in other ways. Imagine using a desktop OS with no file system.

1. As I said 128gb is still plenty for a mobile device. (I deleted nothing and 64gb is too much for me)

2. Thats not a usage case. You can just say "increased functionality" what can't you do now you could do with file management? Because I can manage all the files I need in iOS in the apps they're in and get them to wherever I want them to be. I don't see how a separate finder like app would help this in anyway.

@dannys1 if there was ever a "phone hipster", you are truly being one right now.

"I'm too cool to be bothered looking at my phone screen like kids these days". lol. keep digging.

Is this a joke? I mean it looks like an attempt at a joke, but it fails dramatically like only a nerd could.

Quite interested in VR but honestly I don't think id want to use a mobile phone to do it when there are going to be excellent goggles for it.

To be fair though i'm of the school of thought of buying the best device you can that excels at what its intended for. Most people seem to want to be £500 for something which attempts to do everything they can think of. I think the iPad Pro is a worthy purchase just to run Logic Remote in on a large touchscreen devices..most people seem to want to buy one so they no longer need to use a laptop or they don't get it.

I'm definitely in the minority, i'm always in the minority .

I hope Apple doesn't move to over boosting color saturation. It pops on the screen but pictures and video looks terrible on anything else.

Ummm you do know it all has to do with how the display is calibrated right? Go watch a calibrated oled tv and tell me the colours look terrible. Probably looks over boosted and oversaturated to you because you're used to looking at displays that have terrible black levels.

What works for you is not universal. If I had a terabyte on my phone I would fill it up because I can. Apps can't be stored and run from the cloud either and I have a LOT of apps on my phone ... with a few of them being a gig or more in size. We can shoot video in 4K as well now ... and that can eat up chunks of space depending on the length of the video. Storage size for portable devices is becoming more important all the time.

For starters ... it eliminates the need to use iTunes in order to transfer so many things to the iPhone. You can customize your folders and drag and drop as you please without having to be tied to an app to do all your transferring for you. You can use your phone as a storage device with complete freedom. Apple doesn't need to open up vulnerabilities to the phone in order to have a proper file system. But the marriage to iTunes with the iPhone is very obnoxious ... especially if you consume a lot of offline media.

Yes "LOL" because you're asking for things and no ones given one good real life use purpose for it. There's already multi file management in Dropbox and iCloud Drive apps.
Those require the cloud. How is this a hard concept to grasp?

Hate to admit it but Apple has fallen behind when it comes to the screen. Hopefully when they do start using them they blow it out the water...

I'll have to see if Iphone 7 or an Android phone is for me next. After many years, I might say good bye! I think Apple has fallen behind in many aspects, not just screens.

IOs doesn't have a file system, Galaxy phones have better batter life last longer, and Apple Siri sucks compared to Google now...

So by "file system" you don't actually mean within iOS, you mean you want to be able to plug your device into the computer and access files as if it were a USB stick? I'm pretty sure there are ways to do this quite easily if you so wish - many apps let you browse the file system like this.

I haven't use iTunes to sync anything the phone for about 4-5 years now. Airdrop and Instashare sorts out getting files and the clipboard from/to OS X. All other media is in Spotify, Apple Music and Photo library.

Let me help you. Where are the facts that support that aside from a macrumors writer stating it? Can you point me to any recent research that proves your point? I know how to read an article. I also know the difference between fluff and fact.
If you don't trust the article, why are we discussing the article?

Next time, just tell people you don't believe what you're reading here. Save us all a lot of time.

I should hope the Galaxy S7 has an improved SoC, but no one is considering the A9 to be an example of "falling behind". It's still one of the best SoCs in its class. Let's see if the new Exynos or the Snapdragon 820 still throttle to hell once they heat up during long gaming sessions.
I didn't say it was falling behind, I said quite the opposite. "It is definitely there" however I said the sloppy OS makes it feel slower. Still an incredible SoC though, is rivaling with lower-mid end macbooks...

Your reply to me makes no sense. I'm discussing the facts related to OLED screens vs IPS. Do you believe everything you read? Do you engage in conversations to dispute things you find inaccurate? So again, I put it out to you - where are the facts that current OLED screens have a shorter lifespan than IPS?

What are you talking about? By a file system in iOS I mean a file system in iOS. That was a usage example which you asked for. No I don't want my phone to just be a glorified USB stick. The way you access files with a file system in a phone allows you to do more with your files on the phone as well. You have clearly never used an Android device. I don't really care what you have and haven't used in the last 4-5 years, you were given logical examples and you're still curbing them to appease whatever viewpoint it is you have. Offline file management is very useful. The cloud requires ... the cloud ... and you keep talking about cloud examples. -.-

You're serious?
He apparently is.

Always wondered why Apple is so late to the game with OLED ? The displays are by the same company.

Seems Apple is late to the game with allot of things as of recently.. This can only mean one thing........ Workers are getting slack... Tim cook needs to stand and whip the engineers.

Now, that's slave labor :D

Still wait on OLED. I have an LG, and there are some issues with motion/panning shots. They still need to refine the technology.
Ahh appreciate you taking the time. It still seems to look way better than any thing with fast motion on any LCD panel that I've seen. The motion compensation stuff on LCD is just annoying. Either way, I was planning on waiting at least another year so prices go down a bit before making the leap, hopefully it's a bit more of a solid technology by then. Thanks again.

That is just a beautiful piece of crap!

Sure, it looks good, but deep down, it just plain stinks.

Just kidding. I'm glad Samsung is pushing the display technology. I think the samsung edge is a slick looking phone.

I have just been playing with one in Carphonewarehouse and it is really a staggeringly good looking phone. i just preordered it there and then (demoed the VR,which clinched it for me). The screen really is nice and the blacks look great with what is effectively a bezel free look. My first Samsung since the original Note. The sidebar loading system works really well, which is part of the touchwiz skin?

So true but I never had hardware issues with my 6S; just minor software demons that pop up here and there. Only replacing it because S7 Edge is really different and I'd rather use Samsung pay. My only regret will be slow software updates but I have a iPad Air 2 and Nexus 6 for that.

It's not really hardware issues per say, more it's being further behind in technology. The 6S is what the 6 should've been with a 4k camera and 2GB of RAM + 3D touch. With two years of 3D touch, it would be a lot more useful and refined. I have hiccups with software due to being a beta tester though, so my speakers are inconsistent probably due to that.

Just pre-ordered my S7 Edge in silver (so shiny, so chrome). Need to sale my iPhone 6S in 3 weeks. But I will still be here due to my iPad Air 2.

To be fair, there is no requirement to own an iOS device to be here. If you want to talk about Apple products, this is the place to be. But if a device requirement existed, I hope my MBP cuts it :p.
