Let me get it straight:
Apple will make an iPhone "anniversary edition" with a retail price of $1000? Maybe it's an strategy to charge ~$700 for outdated previous models.

Marketing at it best. Fooling fools.
Sounds like you do't have it "straight", as the rumors of the $1000 "edition" model go along with rumors of lower priced models without some of the most expensive features, but still with significant upgrades. (e.g. no OLED, but A11 SoC and upgraded cameras, etc)

Yes you can, root the phone and you can add a different rom or custom roms as well. At your own risk really but if you're into that kinda stuff then you would, there is a large community that has forums and guides for this called XDA. If it's too much of a hassle just install a launcher to make it look and feel like a stock Android.

Thank you kindly. Not necessarily saying I would go the Android route, but it's nice to know I have options and wouldn't have to deal with the bloat that Sammy among others inject into their devices.

I've never had much interest in Samsung devices. But then I've ever skipped an iPhone upgrade cycle either. Let's see what Applengives me.

How do we know it will undercut the as yet to be announced or priced iPhone 8?
We don't. It's a rumor.

As much I have been tempted by Samsung phones, I'm too ingrained in Apple's ecosystem and really do not have plans to switch anyway.

With that said, the S8 design looks pretty awesome.
What do you think you could do with the S8 that you could not do with the iPhone and vice-versa.
What is the USP that will make you move to the S8?
My current iPhone does everything I need from a portable device. Oh, and I'd never do my banking on an Android phone. With the iPhone and the vault, it is perfect and IMHO far more secure than an Android device.
Looks are not everything you know.

why would i buy a bomb?

This needs to stop and move on. You're not proving anything with a statement like this. And I'm an Apple iPhone user, so I'm not one sided. Plenty of auto manufacturers have had safety recalls on vehicles, should they scrutinized for their mistakes continually? No.

We already understand what happened and it's not going to affect the sale of the S8. It's over. Samsung still makes a great product and the S8 will be a large success.

It's the knew "Steve jobs would never..." post. People parroting each other because they have nothing of substance to add.

"Anniversary edition" is the new "pro" edition.

Of course they have to undercut Apple this time, after the colossal failure of the Note 7 and the disappointing S8.

An used iPhone 8 will be worth gold after one year compared to the S8.

Put the kool-aid down. "colossal" hu? Care to quantify in numbers? And "disappointing" S8? And that word is coming from an Apple analyst. Yeah, no conflict of interest there. I bet if iPhone 8 looks like it, he'll be praising it as the greatest thing in the world.

You're delusional.

The premium iphone 8 is gonna cost as much as a macbook

Sadly will probably be more powerful and capable.

Crap OS? Almost 9 out of 10 people around the world have Android, not iOS. Really hard to believe your statement.

They have these phones because they are cheap. Not because they've handled both iOS and Android and decided to go with Android. Come on now.

Samsung can make great hardware!! Screens etc. Apple leading with mobile CPUs.

Personally I feel it's the software side that lets Samsung down the most. I have access to android devices at work and never feel the desire to use them. Then again, others like android.

Yep! Spot on with these observation. Purely by coincidence, (as opposed to any deliberate choice), I currently own a 2015 Samsung LED Flat Screen TV, a 2016 Samsung mobile phone, and a 2011 Samsung Laptop. All are beautifully designed with Screens and keyboard being particularly strong features.

I made the decision last October to move to Apple for my next, long overdue laptop replacement. This will be the 2017 15" MacBook Pro. This decision I made mainly on the grounds of the increasing age of my Samsung laptop and the reputation macOS enjoys for video editing.

The Samsung laptop has served me very well over the last 4½ years with only occasional problems from the Windows 7 OS which were resolved with a 5-year all-inclusive, extended warranty cover taken out with purchase of the machine. Looking forward to moving on, but quite satisfied with my Samsung laptop's service.

Smart move by Samsung, as they need to win back customers. Undercutting the price of the iPhone is a good move, given that we no longer have subsidies.
Name one brand who isn't undercutting Apple on price. I was really flabbergasted when Apple asked € 500 more for the much needed update from the MacBook Pro. This time I won't be surprised they'll charge over 1000 for an iPhone. One thing Apple does best compared to all others: ask obscene amount of money.

Absolutely. Love. That. Design.

On that note, is this the new norm? Even HIGHER phone prices? Aw man :(

This is such a click-bait article and one that is about as stupid as you can get. Let's guess, just to get the Samsung name in the news, that their un-released iPhone competitor is going to be priced lower than Apple's unannounced new iPhone.

In other news, Chevy will be releasing a new car priced far below Porsche's new 911 Turbo S, which will certainly drive additional market share for GM's division.

Nothing. That's why I have never owned another device besides an iPhone. There would have to be something majorly drastic at Apple that would have to happen in order for me to switch devices.

I just checked Apple's website with all the iPhone's and it looks really crazy with all devices.
iPhone SE is fine for ppl who want a smaller device but why the h* we need all 6s?
Apples product policy makes in so many ways no sense anymore. Probably this is one of the reasons why all the products have pretty high prices and the iPhone 8 will go for around 1k.
