Imagine how I feel. This is the first time I have skipped buying a Fold at launch. I feel like the Ultra is not a big enough upgrade over my Fold 7 and I'm sort of waiting to see if the iPhone Folding thing is real. It's tough sitting on the sideline watching.

Then don't 🙂

I always upgrade each year and have had all 7 Folds, I had even ordered both the F8U and F8

But then I realised that to give the F8 a true run I need to take away my safety net of the Ultra, so yesterday I cancelled my F8U

I'm really looking forward to the new wide format but need to see if it will grate on me after the honeymoon period and if it does I will just replace my 2nd phone currently a Flip 5 and get the F8U too.

The lack of Flex mode and Zoom lens does not bother me and my only real concern is using the inner screen and will I be over tempted to rotate to portrait because of my previous folds

I was tempted previously by the Pixel 1st fold but I prefer Samsung UI and the wide format reminds me of old when I use to have HP PDA's running Win CE in the early 2000's and the Imate JasJar 🙂

So incredibly tempted to upgrade to this, even with iPhone’s fold not so far away. Interested to see everyone’s real day usage with it outside reviewers.
Might be worth waiting until the iPhone Fold’s released as Samsung may drop the price to compete?

As a Flip user, I feel like this is the upgrade that will be a natural move for Flip users. I really don't think the Flip can get any better. The front display is maxed out, and the crease was already very minimal prior to the new titanium flex layer currently being used. So if Flip users find themselves wanting an upgrade, the Fold 8 perfectly fits that want. I have a Bellroy Venture Ready Sling that I use as my travel/EDC and the back pocket on it is for a passport. It now feels like that pocket was made for the Fold 8.

Who’d have thought that the OG Pixel Fold had it right all along hey!

Reviews have been fantastic for the Fold 8 haven’t they!

I can see the Fold 8 being the defecto size going forward. Especially when Apple releases their variant later on in the year.

To me pixel fold was best ff from beginning, unfortunatelly google is unable to rise pwm for all displays - no go. Now im spoiled by iphone air lightweight, i am lost😉

I loved the original Pixel but it was just crappy on battery and not able to take advantage with proper OS options.

I chose the Pixel Fold over the Fold 5 due to the wider cover screen but battery was horrible and cell reception was poor so I returned it and got the Samsung. Other than the cover screen the Fold 5 ended up being a superior experience with the software.

My order has not turned to shipped 🙁

In UK/Europe the delivery is supposedly tomorrow on the 3rd
Interesting… on Reddit some UK/Europe users already received orders on the 31st.

Too many user complaints over pillarbox apps led them changing it up… it took Google awhile to start optimizing for tablet UI and now everything is sorted out.

And tbf, Oppo Find N was the first… but both decided that the aspect ratio wasn’t fully optimized yet.

Granted, the standard Fold could be the popular choice among the public… but once Samsung places emphasis on adding S-Ultra features to the Ultra foldable then more consumers will choose that.

This year the Fold 8 Ultra was not deserving of the Ultra branding (imo)… next year it could change.
