Crashes

That's nice. Oh by the way, how about fixing the iWork app's so they don't crash my 5s?

Do those apps no longer work for those people?

Before... when people that purchased and believed the value they would receive for the cost of the applications was a net positive for them... that equation changes because new people get them for free?

Can someone explain the logic here beyond jealousy?

Is Apple always supposed to charge the exact same thing forever... regardless of the potential changes to the market... competition... economic changes? Just so some people don't feel like someone might get a better deal than them in the future?

You said it... JEALOUSY.

Wouldn't it be smarter to just have iPhoto be apart of iOS7 and combine it with the camera/camera roll to make ONE kick-ass stock app that does everything? I would imagine it wasn't that popular on it's own in the app store as there are many cool choices for photo editing apps, but I could be wrong. It may be difficult to make it easy to use, but if they could pull it off, it would really make iOS7/iPhone stick out and appear more attractive out of the box

There seems to be a patent filing for the iOS iBooks icon

i didnt understand will the apps themselves also get updated? new interface features, Numbers actually become useful...etc?

Apple changed the website back. They also took out Garageband for some reason?

They must have caught the fact that the website was prematurely updated. Leak straight from Apple!

So, a big **** YOU to people who paid for the apps?

There's a new Receipt Verification system in the iOS 7 SDK which let's app developers know when you purchased the app and how much you paid. This can let app developers transition from paid apps to free apps with in-app purchases.

No news on OS X versions?

I know iLife is already free for OS X. iWork free too?

I bought iWork for my Mac back in June. Don't really mind it being paid as I needed it for college.

It would make sense for Apple to make them free though. Plus there's iWork in the Cloud.

Don't really like the new iMovie icon. All the others are ok.

not to mention by paying for these, you have gotten the value of using the app for the past x months/years when it wasn't free

As far as I know, free with new iPhones. And, seriously? So Apple can never change the price of their products, ever?

What about those who bought the MacBook Air one week before the price drop of $100?
I think you could just return it and buy it again. No biggie.

I don't think a company like Apple "messes up" like this. They do these kinds of things to keep the hype up.

Waaaaaah, waaaaaah, waaaaaaah.

I paid for these apps, and I also think it's great they are free for current and future iOS device buyers.

Stop whining. Their making these free isn't a slight to people who paid for them, but rather a bonus to people who buy the latest iOS devices.

On that note, Apple should be entitled to provide me store credit for the purchase price I made for their apps.

If their in-app purchases are required to unlock the functionality I have now then I'm going to be really pissed. So much so I will throw my phone at Apple

I don't care that Apple is making these apps free for a whole new audience. I think it's great for Apple and iOS users.

The thing that does concern me though, as someone who paid for GarageBand, is will I now have to rebuy all the instruments and sounds that I currently have? I've been hoping for a long time to get a whole bunch of NEW instruments and sounds, not having to repurchase all the old instruments through IAP.

Oh, and I think this officially signals the death of paid apps. Sadly. It's a shame, but people are cheap and entitled and expect everything to be free. "You mean I have to pay less than a dollar for this remarkable piece of software? How DARE you charge a very reasonable price for this!"

I know I'm beating a dead horse but...

How can anyone think the iOS 7 icons are an improvement?

The only positive to the new icons is they fit in better with the other horrible iOS 7 icons.

If they removed the stupid gradients, they might, MIGHT have been considered an improvement; but even then it's a wash. Apple needs to stop messing around with things that don't need to be messed around with.

Free for who? People who have iphone 5 with iOS 7? Or for people who iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s? I think it should be free everyone to have, that would be a great move for Apple.

Then why use a pen to represent Pages or an SLR camera to represent the camera icon?

My understanding is that skeuomorphism is more about the texture and layout.

Word 98 was not skeuomorphic because it had a floppy icon to save a document.

GarageBand, however, uses skeuomorphism everywhere. It will be interesting to see the new version on Tuesday.

That's ninja. Now if I had just bought a 64GB iPhone 5S so I can actually keep all these apps on my phone. Alas, they'll probably just go on my iPad, which doesn't have 14GB of music.

How's that? You got what you paid for.

Yeah, I paid $10 for iOS Pages in 2010 and used it for the last 3 years, what a rip-off! /s

Here, have a cookie. :)

iOS 7 broke some core functionality in Numbers. I do not have the app I paid for. Data entry is messed up.
The Green Bastard may be jumping the gun in assuming it will be a paid upgrade for us. I sure hope so.
