We’ve all heard the slogan “United we stand, divided we fall”. If we keep on purchasing Apple products, Tim Cook and Apple will never change. So I think, if the customer stops buying into Apple is the best garbage, things will change, but sadly too many iSheep are brain washed.

PS: I was one of those by the way. But no more. Bye-bye Apple if you keep on doing this to your customers. Too many issues with your hardware now.

Exactly...What a ****ing waste, nor do I use expletives due to a lack of command of the English language. Is what it is, Apple is producing prepositioned garbage that needs to replaced every 2-3 years.

Tim & Co eat this no sale, Lenovo under cut you, out performed you by a wide margin, more importantly they have yet to fail. Professionally Apple is just a joke...

Apple seems to have adopted a "Let them eat cake" mentality. They know the sales and devotion to the product are based more on the strength of the OS and the Apple eco, rather than on the quality of hardware. They can put out whatever they choose to put out in terms of hardware and if the customer wishes to stay with OSX and/or the Apple eco, they have little choice but to buy it and suffer whatever issues, annoyances, disregard comes with it.

I have a 2015 13" MBP and also a 2017 MacBook. Now I've started carrying around the 13" MBP simply because of its better keyboard -- the butterfly keyboard of the MacBook slows me down and is a pain to use. Strange, because I find the Apple smart keyboard I have for my 2nd gen 12.9" app quite usable, though not ideal. I'm even thinking of buying a 15" 2015 MBP on eBay because it has the usable keyboard. It's a real shame that Apple chose thinness over usability and reliability (one of the keys on my MacBook sometimes doubles its output). I think anyone who wants to buy the new MBP's, beautiful as they are, should take the time to find out whether they can really use the keyboard productively or whether, like me, the keyboard slows them slow down so much that they don't want to work with it.

The sliding share price is, I think, related to 1) their announcement they will not announce sales figures anymore (even if nobody else ever had, it does seem like Apple have something to hide now); 2) the Qualcomm lawsuits; 3) bent iPads satisfying Apple's quality standards. Macs are an afterthought both to Apple and the market IMO, I can't imagine Wall Street analysts reading this thread, but if they're trying to use 2018 MBPs for work, the share price will halve within three months...

...oh. Since October 3 the share price fell from $232 to $156. Which means there's a small chance we'll see CEO Angela Ahrendts begin her rose gold reign very soon.

Those of us who still sigh wistfully at the mere mention of Scott Forstall can be happy for him, as a musical he directed won five Tony awards in 2015 whilst Apple was busy unleashing butterfly keyboards on the unsuspecting public.

Oh yeah, I think I've been just about to post this for the last three months. The reason why the 2018 keyboards are not covered by the free repair program is that they've only been around since July. Give it another year and a few class lawsuits.
Apple arrogant enough to buy their own stock back at its highest level. Bet on themselves and lost. Losing touch with reality on all fronts.

Congratulations, you have seen the simple truth, 2015 keyboard is the best.
Now it is just a question of time before Apple sees it, if not, they go down the drain. I'm happy with my current Apple portfolio, but I'm not buying a product with the new keyboards. I'm also not buying an iPad that bends. I'm also probably not buying an iPhone with a notch with a screen that breaks in the cold. Happy times.

I've tried two refurbished mid 2015 15" Macbook Pros from Apple, and the keys differ noticeably from those on my wife's mid 2015 work Macbook Pro, same config. The keys on hers are glossier and more concave/scooped out on top, and taller. The refurb keys are also less springy than my wife's. What accounts for the difference? Is Apple replacing keyboards in refurbs to make them like the newer potentially problematic keyboards? How can I be assured of getting the keyboard like my wife's 2015 has?

Anyone know what the keyboards in the new 2015's sold by BH Photo are like?

If it's a 2015 you're safe??

Problem is who at Apple is going to say we need better machines and will take less profit. Big investors are starting to take control.

Somewhere upthread someone said they were aware of 2015's still being built in 2017. Could that possibly account for the difference in the keyboard? And how can you know what you're getting before you open the box? (BH for one doesn't allow returns of opened computers.)

Dude, I bought my 2015 new in 2018. And I don't regret it for a second, it's the best. This is Apple's problem, how do you improve something that's perfect.. Answer is probably, you don't. If it's a problem with your earnings, you sell more services or increase the price, same goes for the SE. Answer is probably not to ruin the product..

You could tell by the serial number when built but won’t tell you if different keyboard.

I had a 2015 2.8 and now have a brand new 2.2 2015 model from BH and the Keyboards are identical to me other than the fact that my 2015 2.8 had become a little spongy and the keys worn out a little bit after so much time.

It’s hard to compare a several year old keyboard to something that’s brand new. Even if the designs are identical they’re going to feel, look and act a little different just due to the usage and aging.

That’s been my experience anyhow

What is the build date of the one just purchased from B&H?

Battery apps like Coconut Battery will tell build dates of machine and battery along with health.
The fourth and fifth characters in serial number will tell also.

Wow, my wife's 2015 refurb just arrived. The serial number indicates it was built in the first half of 2018.

Any educated guesses about whether the change in keys and typing feel might indicate that the problematic keyboard of more recent models lies underneath. If so, I wonder if it would have that same extended coverage protection Apple does for those keyboards. I'm a simple man -- I just want the keyboard that's on my wife's older work 2015 built first half of 2016.

Or could the built date indicated by the serial number mean the "refurbished" date?

And why is it all so mysterious?

No no no guys..
These are the normal scissor switches as always in these.

I have a butterfly lemon Mac sitting right next to me as I type this. These are worlds apart.

I'm not sure how to guide the poster about the key switch thing. The BH one I got is nearly identical to my older original 2015 minus wear and tear, so I'm just not seeing what he is on the keys being different.

Odd for sure.
Can you share some pictures of the keycaps where they are different maybe?

I can't get pictures right now because I returned the previous refurb. I got the serial number for the recent arrival from the outside of Apple's shipping box. I've ordered a new 2015 from B&H due to arrive Wednesday and I'm waiting for guidance from B&H before opening it since they don't allow returns of opened laptops.

I'll post pics when I can, but the keys on the "refurbished" are distinctly different. They have a mat finish, unlike the glossy finish on the original 2015, and a flatter top. Looking at them side by side with my wife's original the difference is striking and couldn't be accounted for by use and wear.

Could you post pics of your BH keyboard? I'll compare it to my wife's original 2015. Thanks

BTW the refurb keys do NOT look like the current 2018 model keys, and they sure don't make the loud clunk when you type. My main concern is reliability issues with what I can't see beneath the key caps.
