Getting MMS to work with AT&T (Screenshots Included)

The public release will just turn these features on. Really kind of bullsht that AT&T is dragging their feet on this.

I just tested with contacts, and if you select a contact, click share, it brings up email or mms, and will mms the contact info to another phone.

Works with maps locations as well.
 
Not sound weird but...

Are we allowed to do this work around? Does it screw anything up? What happens when MMS is officially released??

Enter this into Terminal and try Alt(Option) + Restore via iTunes:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE
 
I got it to work!! YESSSSSSS.

Oh wait I don't have a Mac. Therefor no MMS. I envy EVERY SINGLE person in here who is using MMS on AT&T. You have far surpassed anything I'll ever succeed in life.

Has anyone figured out how to do this on Windows (believe it or not not everyone uses a Mac).

This lag time appears to go down some with subsequent messages. Yep, after 3 messages text sends like normal. A picture sends like this too, faster after 3-4 of them.

I guess it just says that because it is truly multimedia in that it can send more than just text.

Try to give it more time to send the message.

Well I can't get MMS to work with pictures, so I guess this means that I can't get MMS to work for group text. It's weird that they changed it like this. Guess it won't matter when it is officially released.

I am not sure why mine worked without calling AT&T first, I just tried that before calling anybody. I have a family plan with unlimited family texting, so seems similar to plans that many of you have.

i did all of the above and it didnt work for me..i get the infamous red exclamation point
 
I'm having trouble tethering over bluetooth. I can pair the phone to the computer, but it can't connect to the internet after that. I have it working fine with USB tethering.

Any help?

IT works! MMS works.

I did the same thing... Called AT&T and asked will I can't view MMS? She said "power your phone down and then back on". "I going to send you a MMS message." "Let me know when you have it" Done! I guess AT&T can't stop you from receiving MMS. So they have to enable it. By default a iPhones are set up for links to be displayed when you receive a MMS. Work it out people!

Use this settings (Thanks andrewseely) in settings:general:network:cellular data network

APN: wap.cingular
Username: wap@cingulargprs.com
Password: CINGULAR1
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Max Message Size: [leave blank]
MMS UA Prof URL: [leave blank]


Then lastly, call ATT to have them change there MMS settings. I specifically said "Can you change my mms settings so my iPhone will receive MMS just like any other phone instead of the link method".

I am now able to send and receive MMS.

You have to use the Terminal command before it will be available (no longer grayed out).

Terminal Command:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE
 
anyone get tech chat to get it working yet?

my big problem is for my work i have to text numbers to both owners at the end of the day, and it wants to do that as an MMS, not regular messages.

ill do that tomorrow..i got some friends at at&t..ill hit them up real quick


also..my voice mail stopped working! how do i get it back? does the voice mail section of the cellular data section have to be blank?
 
Spoke to a very nice lady at AT&T Business Care and she tried everything in her power to get it working. Fiddling with settings, sending me a Push OTA, etc.

Nothing worked. She even felt bad about not being able to figure out what else she could do.

Alas, it just wasn't meant to be until later summer for me. I just wish it never worked for me at all, as it worked in Beta 2, and I just miss having the feature.
 
I'm getting the red exclamation point too, even with all of these settings enabled AND MMS Pay Per Use showing up in features online.

When I try to send an email MMS (xxx-xxx-xxxx@mms.att.net) it rejects the message. Somewhere, even with those features showing, AT&T is still blocking MMS messages...
 
I CALLED and somehow got through to an apple person.. musta hit the wrong number on ATT's automated calling.. ANYWAYS.. Still waiting to get them to "take off MMS block"

I am using the excuse that I will be out of the coutry and want to get those done before I leave
 
Really super nice lady on the phone right now.. Said i was going ot be out of the country when they are supposed to update and I wold rather not deal with it..

She told me that I already have an unlimited text/multi media plan on my account..

I said, this i know..however I was told **** my phone just disconnected!! NOOO>>>>> I had the NICEST lady on the phone!!
