Whoa! So I popped the sim inot an old Nokia, fired off an SMS. No prob. Thought, I'd try to send a pic to myself on the Nokia. Hey! It worked on both sides!

Pop the sim back into the iPhone expecting to wait til tomorrow...but I'm impatient and so I tried it.

I can tether, my visual VM works and now, I have MMS...

This is all thanks to the nerds, hackers, impatient SOB's and entitled mofo's that make this forum so great!! I'm glad to be a part of this group. lol

Try rebooting and see if it's still working for you.

just had two seperate AT&T reps independent of each other both say that MMS will be available through an update on the 19th of this month. Both reps were business care reps.

interesting, eh? wonder if they are just blowing smoke? Would be a big surprise if it is true.

I spoke to multiple business care reps who said it won't be available until late summer. Activating MMS on the 19th would be a pleasant surprise, and I wish it would really happen.

So far so good...it'll be gone by morning, won't it? :(

Sorry about the ranting. I got overly excited. Lack of sleep from tracking 3GS UPS packages last night. lol.

I did the steps, got tethering and mms info added. Swapped sim cards (out of iphone, into wife's phone w/ mms, then back) and now I have the camera on messages. I tried sending a photo but it fails. I verified my MMS settings mentioned in this post (network > cellular data), but it errors out. :(

Oh, and called AT&T and the guy read me whats on Apple.com (Available Late Summer...). Bah humbug.

I have just done everything that this forum says to do. I restarted phone, had camera icon and was taking pictures and sending them but it got hung up. Then I called ATT and talked to about 4 different reps when finally I got a lady that knew what she was talking about. She said they have to go change the settings for each phone. She then sent a couple of test messages. I have not received anything but she said to wait at least 24 hours. She said she also re registered my sim card. So we will see tomorrow.

Good luck peeps

note:
Then lastly, call ATT to have them change there MMS settings. I specifically said "Can you change my mms settings so my iPhone will receive MMS just like any other phone instead of the link method".

I am now able to send and receive MMS.

Hope this works for you guys instead. Here's a screenshot of the convo between the rep. Notice the AT&T network on the top left.

For everyone who followed these steps and got it to work, KUDOS! I've done all of these steps and called AT&T twice and I'm still SOL. One rep told me I would be able to MMS Friday and the second rep told me end of the summer. Based on what everyone is being told I have no clue what calling AT&T does to help. Oh well. Guess I'll have to wait for the real deal.

I called AT&T a few times tonight, and each time I was told "end of summer" and that there is NO block on my account preventing me from sending MMS messages. I insisted that there was, and even had one of the reps check (this was before she read in the tech manual about MMS coming at the end of summer) and she said she checked everywhere she could and there are no opt-out codes on my account. I'm not exactly sure if she knew what she was doing but she was very polite and didn't realize that MMS isn't a feature that should be enabled until the very end of our conversation.

EVERYONE I NEED HELP WITH ONE THING!
how do i access the mms settings i go to the network and everything i dont have it =[ im trying everything and keep reading but havnt found a straight forward answer... anyone can help?
just need to find out how to show the mms settings when i go to network

Where do you guys get the idea that they place a block on your account?

I updated the original post. read the top section.

The way the MMS is set up on your account is wrong. They set it up so you receive a link, not where you receive a picture. That's what you need them to change. There is no such thing as a block on your account unless you asked them to specifically block it before.

On my account before (when I was looking online), I had an "MMS Opt-Out" feature listed. That's what was stopping the MMS. They changed that to Pay-Per Use, but to no avail.

I finally got it to work. Found a beta 8.2 iTunes and you know the rest...

No call to a CSR needed! I just updated the ipcc to 5.0, rebooted my phone and set everything up within the data settings. I'm so happy :D

i literally did the exact same thing and it still isnt working. no clue. version is AT&T 5.0, i see the little camera and am able to take a photo and it starts to send but it errors out... i entered the same settings in the network field. any suggestions?

Call AT&T and asked them to switch your MMS from link form to picture form?

Same here.
It starts to send and right when its about to reach the end while loading that bar it errors out and give me the red exclamation point.
Guess we'll have to call up AT&T.

Infact - try now. Maybe the night time reps are less informed if AT&T really is making restrictions.

ok... I have not done ANYTHING except restart my phone (not plugged in or anything) and now all of a sudden my TETHERING option is gone.. but the MMS camera is still there

Hi everyone,

When I updated my carrier file to 5.0, I looked at the cellular data network menu and I have fields for Cellular Data, Visual Voicemail, and MMS. What info do I put in for Cellular Data and Visual Voicemail? They both only ask for username and password and the APN for both is already filled out with wap.cingular.

I'm guessing I use the same username and password as I did for MMS, but I just want to confirm.

Any help is appreciated.

*UPDATE*
Just called AT&T and talked to a very nice lady on the phone. She took her about 3 mins to enable my mms. Sounded like she already knew what i was talking about lol. Oh and right when i dialed 611, the voice said they had an unusual amount of callers lol.
Checking to see if my mms officially works now.....*Crosses Fingers*

Ehh, it didnt work. I really dont think this method works all to well. I mean how do i do EXACTLY what the other guy does, and i cant get it to work? Seems fishy to me.
