Jesus...

Some phones it works some it doesnt, i didnt have to call AT&T i just went to http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4271 MMS and tethering works like a charm, maybe a little slow, but it works... been working for two days now. I think it works without calling AT&T when you have the family texting plan if there are other phones that can do MMS.

alright.. I have the picture option.. sending a pic now. its stuck on the last little bit of sending.. have no yet called ATT to have them "release" mms though.. Trying it without it. I am on a "family plan" so it might be slightly different??

Exact same situation. I contacted AT&T technical support chat. The most unintelligible person ever! She directed me to the Apple website 4 times in the same wording. Obviously she had a list of responses to choose from!

I've given up on this. Tethering alone works fine with me, when I add MMS settings then my voicemail goes down. I fix my voicemail, then tethering disappears and now I'm back at square one.

I always break things when I'm bored! I need to start my new job already!

It seems you have to roll the dice w/AT&T and hope for the best. I've called 4 times and no one knows what I am talking about, they man I'm talking to now seems to want to help though and he's looking into it. The others were VERY adamant that it was NOT POSSIBLE YET. lol

Make sure right carrier package!

Here is the carrier packaged i used and it work flawlessly... and you have to type in the MMS settings EXACTLY RIGHT! better off copy and paste!!! Make sure you CHANGE ZIP to ipcc!!!

ATT Tech Support Chat disabled?

I'm trying to reach AT&T Technical Support chat. I had to search for the link online. Now that I found it, I'm taken to a page where I select my topic. I select text and picture messaging which takes me to a page where I'm told that I may now click to chat with an available representative. Only problem is, there's no button or link to click on to activate chat with anyone. Hmmm...

i sent them a message and i got a reply saying i am #24 with a 17 minute wait

How the heck do you install a ipcc file? iTunes is looking for a ipsw file ONLY!

What if you dont see these settings?

Use this settings (Thanks andrewseely) in settings:general:network:cellular data network

APN: wap.cingular
Username: wap@cingulargprs.com
Password: CINGULAR1
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Max Message Size: [leave blank]
MMS UA Prof URL: [leave blank]

These setting only go under the "MMS", correct? Or do you need to insert the Username and Password under "Cellular Data" as well?

The chat rep told me that any iphone3g user able to mms now will be systematically stopped from being able to send/ recieve MMS soon. AT&T techs are not "able" to change any settings related to iphone3g MMS. The glitch is on AT&T's part and will be enabled "later this summer" You will not need to do anything to enable MMS. You will recieve a MMS from AT&T when it is enabled.

For what it's worth.

I spoke with several ATT reps today, and frankly I can get this to work with a different SIM card that I use for my G1. So their claim that its not support is bogus...

I registered my complant as this is my second round with misrepresentation of a product from apple and att.

I was in the Rancho Bernardo ATT store and was told by a rep that MMS and Tethering would be enabled on the 15th and sure enough that's not the case.

This isn't a technical limitation, this is a policy limitation. And they also wont provide a SIM unlock so I can use a over-seas SIM when I travel to mitigate the problem, as an act of good faith.

With all that said, I will be returning my and the girlfriends iphone as well as canceling our 6 business lines with att.. I am so very tired of this company.

Maybe when the iphone is released to other carriers I will give it a 3rd try.

I encourage anyone else who is just as fed-up as I am to do the same. Its the only way to voice your opinion.

MMS Upcoming?

It seems you have to roll the dice w/AT&T and hope for the best. I've called 4 times and no one knows what I am talking about, they man I'm talking to now seems to want to help though and he's looking into it. The others were VERY adamant that it was NOT POSSIBLE YET. lol

I have unlimited family texting that works on all my family phones except the iPhone. On the iPhone, I get a link that I must go to, enter a cryptic username and password that half the time doesn't work. It's extremely frustrating.

Like just about everyone else on this forum, I've been trying to get MMS to work on my iPhone under 3.0. After several "chats" with technical support online with no luck, I called the landline technical support line. I spoke with a very nice guy and explained that I wanted to receive MMS messages directly, not a link that I had to go to a web browser to download and display. I explained how at least half the time when I used the link method, I was unable to display the MMS message.

He seemed genuinely interested and a little depressed saying that he was not able to "throw the switch" to make this work. He also said that so many people are asking for this feature now that someone is apparently listening. He said that the network is nearly ready to go and that this function should be available "within the week". I asked if he meant" within a week". He said no. For what it's worth, I dunno. Maybe he was blowing me off in a nice way but what he was saying sounds consistent with rumors on this board that something is going to be available from AT&T via iTunes on Friday. Guess we'll see.

WOW ok so this is what happend to me yesterday! I was on the phone with AT&T for like 45 min. The guy was really nice and tried really hard to help me. He sent me a whole bunch of test and none of them came through. So i hung up with him and called agin. I got some EXTREMELY happy lady and she did something to my MMS thing and she sent me like MMS with a link. SOOOOO i wake up today to find that i have like 10 messages that looked like this. However you can see that when i tried to send it back i get the ! (they got posted out of order but it is the bottom right the clockwise

Ok so i called ATT and what happened was that the first guy that i talked to sent me all those tests and i got them this morning...HOWEVER after i talked to that guy i got moved to Tech Sup. and the extremely happy lady changed my account to view my links.

So im stuck withought MMS for good not until "late summer" whatever that means......

i called 611 business help line 3 times today

neither knew what i was talking about, and they eventually asked their managers who then said late summer

I spoke with a very informative Apple guy through the AT&T business tech. support, I originally called regarding my voicemail but we started chatting about Apple, etc,etc..

I asked him about MMS and he said that it will be available later this summer and that iPhone users will NOT have to do anything on their part, it won't be an upgrade or anything, it's an issue with AT&T. He wouldn't specify what the issue was, but he said they were working on it to activate the MMS feature..

I GOT IT TO WORK!

Ok this is what i said.
"I DO NOT want to get a link to my phone anymore. I know that my phone is not set up for MMS and i am not trying to get it either. I just dont want that link sent to me, so can you please disable it." The lady said hold on while i transfer you to out Tech team (because customer support cant do anything) and i told her that i no longer want a link because it gets on my nerves and that i wanted that disabled. So then they made me power off my phone while she did something to my account then i turned my phone back on after all of that. Then she said is there anyone that can send me an MMS to see if you get the link. I said no and she sent me a test one. Then she said did you get my MMS? I said no even though i really got this (picture below) :D:p:)

As you can see the link was sent back when that was enabled. But then i disabled it and got the ATT glob. But DO NOT tell the, that you got the glob, just say you didnt get a link or a globe :)
