just had a few different at&t reps sound aggravated about me calling in about it, seems that their high amount of calls is probably about this stuff. Last two said they can do it, but that they are not allowed to. Awesome.

I have all this done properly but when I go to send a picture it brings up the "!" error at the end. I have the family messaging plan, which includes mms. What could be the problem?

Both MMS and Tethering works...First setup MMS, then go to the site posted earlier in the forums to setup tethering...(the other forum post)
I was tethering over bluetooth and MMS test to myself and others...

MMS works on one of my iphones following this method but not my other iPhone. Causing me to think that changing this setting is the fix. Its 2am so I'm gotta wait and call att in the morning(later in this morning that is) and ask them to change my setting. I will get back to yous then. (fingers crossed)

stopped working for no apparent reason!!!. I'm sad. No amount of restores or ipcc changes has brought it back.

Instead of people finicking with carrier and cell settings and everything else, why not just wait a few weeks and it will be taken care of? Is it really worth screwing up your phone to get MMS which Apple hasn't had since the iPhone came out.

It could be a few weeks ... or a few months. Some of us got so stoked about it coming out we got MMS blue balls. Gotta handle it now, if you know what I mean. haha

I haven't done it yet, but what you're supposed to do is call 888-892-9760 and press option 1. This number is for AT&T's Tier 2 Support, so they'll know what they're doing.

Then, you ask them to follow these steps:
1. Enable Media Net and WAP Push
2. There are two areas in Snooper that need to be checked off to enable MMS 3. push OTA (over the air activation)

Then MMS should be working.

hey jpk is that all i have too do? do i need to do anything earlier like the beta itunes and ipcc file or i just need to do that for it too work

Any thoughts as to why I lost my tehtering option randomly??

I had it when I first installed and checked to see if BOTH options were there and they were.. then i played with the MMS and then decided to try and get tethering to work. NO TETHERING SETTING!!! What in the world happened?

They are on to us!

I hope the rumors are true about MMS being out on Friday.. I mean they say late summer and last time I checked we are in the begging of summer so an early release would be nice. It may be due to all of us repeatedly calling asking for them to get this to work. I have called 3 times with no luck and on the last call I was transferred to a T2 tech. They knew what I wanted and where very rude. They kept repeating late summer. Then I asked why the wait. They said it was Apple's software... ????????? I said well why are my friends with the same phone in other countries able to do it? Well Apple gave us different software. I then got rude back and said that ATT is making it much easier for me to switch to VERIZON whenever they get an iPhone. That it was not Apple it was ATT and that I would bet it is there network that they are worried can not handle all the MMS traffic when all 20 million iPhones start sending out pictures via MMS.

I have no idea if I am correct. I would love to hear a valid and truthful argument from ATT as to why we have to wait. To blaim it on Apple is ridiculous.:mad:

Maybe not...

Story updated with an entirely ******** excuse: http://weblogs.redeyechicago.com/iphoneblog/2009/06/iphone-mms-in-the-us-via-att-imminent.html

From at&t rep:
"What you've heard is false. MMS for iPhone will be ready by late summer. AT&T and Apple have a detailed planning process and both companies supported the decision and timing."

Apple most definitely did not agree to it. If they did then they wouldn't have taken the jabs at at&t like they did in the keynote.

ok good luck, let me know how your MMS is in two hours. I've been through all this already with them.

still worrking for me.

And you didn't have to call AT&T at all and beg to remove anything? I have the Unltd Family txt plan so...

nope.

it's not exactly complicated. If something stops working, it's pretty easy to just downgrade to the AT&T 4.0 carrier settings.

It's called deflecting blame. Apple most certainly agreed to it or they would not have disabled the features.
Apple could have very easily left the features enabled and let AT&T take the full flack for them not working.
Quit apologizing for Apple's poor decision making abilities.

I think we should just frustrate AT&T into pushing MMS out earlier. I mean, I need to be able to take pictures at BBQ's and free summer concerts! I can't wait til "late summer" for MMS...the good times will be over. lol.

Seriously...we'll more serious than what I just wrote...

What if everyone called AT&T to complain about MMS until it was released. We would jam their phone lines so hard that they could be forced into giving the public what they want.

PS...my MMS stopped working already. :(

They couldn't because the carrier files are approved by the carriers. Apple wouldn't be able to leave it enabled and not working.

Would you mind posting that easy downgrade option? I can't seem to find the 4.0 settings online anywhere to go back (without restoring).

What if you dont see these settings?

Use this settings (Thanks andrewseely) in settings:general:network:cellular data network

APN: wap.cingular
Username: wap@cingulargprs.com
Password: CINGULAR1
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Max Message Size: [leave blank]
MMS UA Prof URL: [leave blank]

Would anyone be so kind to post the step by step process to enable mms? I have the latest iTunes on my Mac. Also running the public version of 3.0. I have tried and nothing has work.

So everything was working great until...My voicemail. VVM and dialing 1 both fail. Anyway to fix this?

Woot, fixed! acds.voicemail instead of wap.cingular under cellular settings.
