This is gold as in iPhone Sherwin-Williams Edition, not gold as in Apple Watch Edition, correct? So why would there be a different process?

I imagine it's like color reproduction in photographs. Your variables are various dye or pigment based inks and then various papers made of different material with different finishes (luster, satin, metallic). So you can have an image of a green forest, but you've got a series of different outcomes in the overall appearance depending on the variables (ink X paper) which means you can have different looking prints of the same image. This is a process used with certain materials that produces the gold color they're looking for vs. the process needed to get the Pacific Blue the way they wanted it to look.

Well if I had a thousand bucks to throw around, I'd certainly get the gold 👌

I'm more excited to get the Gold Pro Max now, have never gone for that colour before on any of the earlier iPhones but this time it just looked so damn good. 😍

gold looks #1

So glad i ordered the Gold :)

Tho i must admit the pacific blue looks better than what i originally thought. But Gold is just better and I'm one of those that never use cases so its beauty is always on display. Bareback all the way!

In the real world (vs the fake world of tech reviewers) does anyone EVER look at the edges of a smartphone ever? Like ever in your whole life?

Doubtful - except when taking it out of the box for the first time.

Verdict: Fake review

Can’t polish it like the raw stainless. It still has a coating. Unless you want it to look like complete garbage wearing off in spots
I keep seeing people say this but has it been confirmed that the silver is raw this year? When it was introduced it sounded like *all* the finishes have PVD coating + magnetron whatever on the gold.

It's Pro Gold finish baby!

I currently have a gold 11 Pro Max. Does it have the same gold finish? I can easily wipe fingerprints from the rounded frame.

This is only a “problem” for people who go caseless. Non-issue for the vast majority who use a case.

I would mention gold is great, I love the gold edges but the back is basically cream, not sure why they didn’t choose a different darker tone.

I agree. I've always hated that about the gold. Would probably have gotten gold in the past if not for the cream back.
