Fingerprint is new complaint?

  • Use case
  • Wear full size glove
  • Wash hand with mild dishwasher to reduce grease intensity
  • Use someone else hand with less greasy finger?
When my screen and entire enclosure have so many fingerprints (I use my phone naked, no case), I smudged it off with a cloth or simply using my own shirt. Simply no breaker, dunno why some folks complaining so trivial things...they should grateful at least still have fingers on their palm...

Using a case to avoid fingerprints is stupid. How do fingerprints detract from appearance more than a case?

It's quite astonishing, really. We now live in an age were we have a supercomputer in our pocket and worry about the amount of fingerprints on part of its case.
Ray Kurzweil made a point that everyone has 2 trillion dollars worth of economic output in their pocket but the value is relative to the new baseline, so it's actually closer to zero. It would make sense that fingerprints come out on top as a prime concern.

So it's different than the iPhone X's stainless steel band?
Well if you’re getting the silver then it’s raw from the way it looks like previous years. Every other color has the coating over the stainless steel so you can’t polish the ones that have the coating.

I had been planning on getting the Pacific Blue when announced... but the gold looked too good. So I did gold. Sadly, I'm on wave two of deliveries- Oct 30-Nov 4 :(

PVD if it had a reaction to anything, it might cause a separation or ‘tarnish-like appearance‘ if it comes in contact with certain types of fluids/cleaning solutions. The gold stainless Apple Watch uses PVD, [a few members posted their experiences with with tarnishing due to the PVD, but it was more of a rarity.]
Yeah I was one of those people and I provided pics of my gold series 4 Apple Watch with the hideous marks on them that I did eventually successfully remove with a jewelry cloth.

But a watch gets exposed to different things like hand sanitizer and soap and oils from the skin and sweat and minerals in swimming pools or tap/well water.

I’ve yet to have a problem with the stainless steel finishes on my iPhones, even when using cases that expose the bottom of the phone.

I am reminded of the Conan O’Brien skit for gold iPhones and this guy:

GOLD IS BEST! —Raffi

There was an unboxing of a legit gold pro, and honestly it gets fingerprints just as much as the rest. It’s a shiny material, and unfortunately us humans have really oily fingers. Guys, just get the color that you really want. You’ll be satisfied at the end of the day. :)

So what I'm hearing is that Apple cheaped out on providing proper protective coatings for the majority of these phones?
More likely they couldn't couldn't get the gold to look the way they wanted, or wear the way they wanted, with the usual process, so had to go with a different process. But good work on casting every scrap of information as "Apple is horrible".

I have a Pacific Blue iphone12Pro being delivered in the second wave on 10/30. I almost went with the gold, but friends said it was a girl color. I wanted to see both, but of course we are all buying by faith. After reading this article, I just bought the gold one, which is to be delivered 11/10...(sigh). I just want to see them both...I will return one of them. The sucky thing is that I have a brand new iwatch6 w/cell sitting here that I cannot use until I get one of these iphones....my current iphone6+ will not work with my new watch....so I wait.

Saying that the color gold is for girls is one of the most ignorant things I’ve heard

I don’t think gold is a girl color. This maybe the case with the 5S, 6 and 7 where the front screen bezel is white. The xs, 11 pro and 12 pro’s gold looks men enough because it has a black front.

This. Unless the color itself has sex organs, then it’s just a color. If someone worried that being seen with a phone of a particular color will make people think they’re female, they have much bigger problems than what phone to buy, starting with thinking that one gender is somehow less important or desirable than another.

Absolutely - in fact, I heard if a big burly macho man buys a gold iPhone, it’ll turn them gay.

Or maybe people can just get whichever color they fancy. Color doesn’t have gender. It isn’t inherently masculine or feminine.

YOU DEM LIBERALS ALWAYS TRYNA BREAK TRADITION OF COURSE GOLD IS A WOMANS COLOR AND IT’S A CHOICE U AINT BORN THAT WAY GOOD GOD ALMITY MY ALABAMAN ACCENT IS COMING OUT LIKE I HAD ONE TOO MANY MOONSHINE
