Ok...but if after all these years that's your selling point...

As for Apple, if they want to get rid of ports, fine, if they want to get rid of buttons, fine, but they better make the iPhone as water proof as the Apple Watch soon, so whenever I get home I can just wash the thing under the faucet.
I seriously doubt they can anyways, unless the phone becomes fragile af that is a whole body of glass that can’t be disassembled after leaving the factory or whatever.

Also, good luck resetting a phone without button when software becomes buggy and the phone freezes.

Yea I get that, I just find it hard to believe there's a market for people that want high end audio to go with their budget phone. Just doesn't seem like it's worth it from a business perspective.
Just because it may be a budget phone doesn’t mean it will have worse audio performance than an expensive phone with lots of bells and whistles.

Well, maybe it has a tendency towards making fun of the "Apple sheep". The Ive videos were never really good, yet most of the target group were going "ooh", "aaahhh", "woooahhh" whenever they saw one. It would not surprise me if some "reaction videos" to it show up on Youtube very soon, but the typical Apple cultist is replaced with a Google cultist.
Did the Ive videos ever show all the glue they use?

Google can’t get much right. That was pretty cringe worthy. But they probably don’t get it. When you have to spell out the joke… not funny

Let’s hope Apple doesn’t copy this new technology that supports lossless audio.

If you want lossless Apple Music with headphones, you need a wired connection.

I think only a small number of people actually listen to lossless audio, much less through their smartphones (they likely have specialised equipment for that), and there’s the headphone jack adaptor for this.

Google today shared a new Pixel 5a ad that's meant to parody some of the product intro videos that former Apple design chief Jony Ive used to make to highlight new iPhone features.

In the video, Google spends a full two minutes describing the design of the Pixel 5a's headphone jack in exaggeratory language, and as noted by CNET, there are even two moments where the video uses Ive's British pronunciation of aluminum. From the video description:Since Jony Ive is no longer Apple's design chief and does not make Apple's product videos, it's not clear why Google has opted to make a video imitating him two years after he left the company. A video promoting the headphone jack is also an unusual choice as fervor over the component has died down now that many high-end smartphones have eliminated it, including Google's own flagship Pixel models.

The $449 Pixel 5a goes on sale today. In addition to a headphone jack, it features a 6.3-inch display with hole punch camera cutout, IP67 water resistance, 5G connectivity, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip.

Google's Pixel 5a competes with the $699 iPhone 12 mini and the $399 iPhone SE at the current time, but Apple plans to release an upgraded 5G version of the iPhone SE for 2022.

Absolutely brilliant Google! Now kick some more ass Apple's way please. Maybe the arrogance and ignorance of Apple will be challenged with these wonderfully produced commercials. Put it this way, it had me in stitches giggling - replaying it over and over. It also made me realise how stupid it was for Apple removing such a great piece of tech that is timeless. Simple.

I say this as someone who specifically got a phone with a jack: This ad shows Google's typical lack of taste.

Also not even logical considering what everyone else pointed out about Google's flagship phone not having a jack.

Obviously you're not an audio enthusiast. Wired is still best for quality, latency and no downtime from having to recharge wireless earbuds.
You can use the Lightning adaptor for that if you care that much. Is the built-in DAC even good enough for audio enthusiasts?

The real purpose of the onboard 3.5mm is convenience. Bluetooth is annoying to deal with, and that's why despite the iPhone supporting BT headphones since 2007, nobody really used them until they were coaxed (no pun intended) into it over a decade later. And I'm not carrying around a dongle for something that should be basic.

That would be cool if I had a speaker I could plug into… but really. Did they put the team that runs their messaging apps in charge of this?

I find it amusing that folks are using the term ‘cringey’ nowadays a LOT.

As someone who’s first language is not English I only recognized the word as the name of Prince Adam’s cowardly cat in Masters of the Universe

Man, I’m old.

On topic, this ad is both a wonderful parody and throwback, but it has the added bonus of separating the men from the fanboys in this comment section.

Twice the entertainment!

Apple deserves for doing stuff like a keyboard and calling it "MAGIC" keyboard 🤣

That being said, this sort of talk should have been for the M1 chip. Truly revolutionary thing and unmatched by any one else.

Also now that Apple and Google both breach your privacy, I am considering a Google Phone+Graphene OS

“it's not clear why Google has opted to make a video imitating him two years after he left the company. A video promoting the headphone jack is also an unusual choice”

that’s why it’s funny!!
