They didn't copy Apple. Apple hasn't even released a phone with a square camera yet. Just because there leaks came out first? The Huawei mate 20 already exist with a square design so they are both copying Huawie. How do you completely ignore that part of my post?

You're funny. ios neveeeeerrr takes from android eh? How about their notification's? Quick toggles now for wifi and bluetooth in command center? I really don't care who copies what I just want the best usability for the devices I own. If whatever the copying is is legal what do I care as a consumer?

Bring me my crown Jester.

I never stated iOS has never copied from Android, so stop making things up you think I might have said.

And apparently you DO care, based on all your posts regarding copying and even telling people they should avoid making such posts.

People said the iPhone copied the LG Prada simply because the Prada came out earlier. Except that it was proven in the Samsung/Apple court case that final designs for the iPhone were done LONG BEFORE the Prada was ever announced.

Companies like to take advantage of the fact that Apple doesn't release details about products until they are ready for release. So if the 2019 iPhone has a square camera bump you can be assured that it was decided on a long time ago. But people will still try and claim Apple copied Google, as if Apple only decides on the final design for the iPhone in the last 2 months before full scale production.

There's no reason for Google to "confirm" their square camera bump. It's irrelevant without specific information on what cameras/sensors are going inside that square. Google is just playing games because they know their fans will lap it up and use this "press release" to imply Apple copied Google.

I can’t believe they’re copying this design
You can’t really say they are copying. It takes months into designing products and testing them. It’s not like google saw a rumor and was like **** let’s change what we have and copy them. I mean a copy is like how GM made the same exact car for each of its divisions.

So, since Google announced it before Apple showed theirs, I guess that'll be another claim that Apple copied them.

It is still a rumour that Apple will have a square camera housing for the rear cameras. Google made it a reality. By definition whoever released or announces a product first can claim the rest are copying.

Who cares though in the smart phone design, every company is copying the other along with software.

I hate the square design and it looks ugly as hell but I don't know if there is a better solution. Considering that we might get 3 cameras then how would you solve this? Circle would look worse so square makes a little more sense (still hideous though. The only solution I can see is to have flat surface and go for unified colour that would cover the whole thing. Depending on the colour each phone would be compensating for the tint.
Not sure if feasible but an idea.
Or just not have bump at all and just have the lenses visible (but not sticking out)

I think going horizontal would look better than the square in the corner.

Whose definition is this?

The only thing that matters is who ships an actual working device to consumers. All the rest is vaporware, especially announcements.

Well, I think the issue is that the cameras need to be close together and thats why they choose square.
We shall see but for me I don't think you can have 3 cameras in one line as the furthest on the left would not be working with the furthest on the right and I believe that Apple is aiming for some camera magic that would use all 3 cameras. Just guessing here but yeah.

So apparently the new Pixel 4 is going to support air gestures as well. Didn’t Samsung already tried that and wasn’t it a big fail?

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...adar-enabled-gestures-thanks-to-project-soli/

What was the nature of Samsung's failed attempt? The appeal? Or the implementation? If the latter, did Samsung have a specialized radar chip for that purpose? Probably not. Sounds like Google had to get special approval from the FCC for the necessary hardware.

This is without a doubt the craziest tech news I’ve read for a very long time!

I would love to know the story behind this. Is it really possible that a company as big and well known as google would so blatantly copy a technical drawing or a rumor - really!? Did they sit in a meeting and discuss the possible next iPhone and decide to copy it - really!?
This is beyond what Samsung used to do. It’s what the Chinese brands are doing.

Google is the new Samsung, copy copy copy, and even worse, copying rumors.

Google likes to copy Apple recently, especially rumors.

They copied when they heard rumors about Screen Time and Dark Mode coming to iOS. And now a square bump! Right after following the notch, gesture navigations, and animations. Etc.

I laugh every time when Google eats their own words too when they make fun of Apple, then they do it themselves. They did it with the camera bump, headphone jack, and dual cameras. There’s probably more too.

Google is a joke. ;D

You clearly don’t understand how product development and production work.

I think that would mean the front facing camera and ear piece would need to be relocated or ... ::gasp:: the phone would need to be thicker. I guess the bump could just be larger :D
