What about Apple can you hold their beer too? camera lens layout looks less symmetrical with a bigger bump on the iphone as well. Gotta think that's winning the uglier design between the two from these renders.

No, no it doesn't google appoligists. It is just as ugly if not worse.

Go for it.

You state that as if you're confident there's nothing that Android Q implements that iOS didn't do first.

Permissions: Android originally copied the granular permissions from iOS, and is now adding the third "while using" option to the previous Allow/Deny.
Device ID Restrictions: Like iOS has done for years, Android Q is now placing restrictions on the ability for developers to gain access to device identifiers like IMEI or device serial number.
Background Apps: Android Q will now behave more like iOS and restrict how and when background Apps can run. I wonder if that will stop the stupid "Android has true multitasking" comments we always see?
Sharing Shortcuts: No longer do you have to wait for the share list to populate as developers can now "declare" this so your list pops up instantly.
Scoped Storage: Though Google has walked this back for now because of developer complaints. Apps will no longer have free reign to access storage. So much for all those complaints about iOS not having a file manager - Android will lose that ability as well.

Basically, Google is making Android Q all about privacy by implementing things iOS has had for years. For starters.

Is the same “ton of people” that want back:
5 ¼ floppies
3 ½ floppies
Portable CD players
Portable transistor AM radios
45’s
8 Track players
Reel to Reel
*Sigh

C'mon, man (woman?). This argument is BS and you know it. There IS such a thing as jumping ahead too soon, and Apple does this too damn much.

But hey, thanks to Apple, my patience muscles are huge. I just have to wait it out for either time to catch up, the industry to catch up, or for the more unlikely scenario of Apple backpedaling (*cough*Mac Pro*cough*).

In the interim, I'll use something else that connects to TODAY.

What will this look like in 10 years?
Please, someone innovate and place all these cameras within a single lens.

Will it have a FaceID copy too? I remember people guessing that it would take stock Android phones a couple years to catch up with FaceID, this could prove them right.

It took a couple years for Android to get Touch ID back in the day - the iPhone got it in 2013, Samsung had a buggy non-standard implementation in 2014, stock Android had it in 2015.

Technically, Google isn’t copying Apple because Apple hasn’t even announced they’re doing it.
IMO it comes across like Google is even more desperate, copying rumors just to say "haha we had it first!", which no one cares about.

All this complaining by people with absolutely zero understanding of the field of Optics should finally stop whining about ``they can't innovate,'' when in fact it is innovation. It must be tough to feel each of you have the understanding of Physics better than the PhDs at both corporations. Reality check: you don't. With a rarity I've found someone on here or other forums who've ever worked in SV as well.

Grow up, enjoy the advances and work on your physical appearances more than the absurd perfectionist fantasy you have with electronics exterior aesthetics.

The problem with Apple fanboys is they know very little about the tech (at east non-Apple tech). The first phone with a fingerprint scanner was Pantech GI100 which was launched in 2004. There were many phones with fingerprint scanner after that. It took Apple almost a decade to copy the feature (and improve it, sure, but still).

We could make a list of both, and the items iOS did first would handily surpass Android.
That would be very difficult to do. Suffice to say that Android is leading in many regards right now (for example, 5G, widgets, real multi-tasking, user-accessible file system, support for memory cards, pen support, under-the-screen fingerprint scanners, USB-C, fast(er) charging etc.)

Put in a headphone jack. It hurts no one and pleases many.
It doesn’t hurt, but if it takes the place of other stuff, like a slightly larger battery, and since you can connect headphones by Bluetooth or via the lightning port, maybe it should go.

No rear fingerprint reader. I suspect an in-screen reader like the S10 and OnePlus. Nice.
Not that nice. They don’t work that well.

Just buy wireless. Why use a wire on the go? It’s 2019.

For me, the formula is simple:

Price of wireless headphones x ({#kids} x {the-rate-kids-break/lose-stuff}) = Alternatives

For the sake of balance and fairness, can you expound on the features iOS lifted from/did after Android? Or at least the ones you'd like iOS to have?

This is all very informative!

Nah
It's not an argument.
It's an observation of what's taken place in the past.
You may not like these changes, it may not be convenient for your circumstances, but that's beside the point.
You can either adapt or move to something that suits your needs.

I should of added HD DVD and Betamax :p

Make the Square camera flush, like LG does with their camera bumps, get rid of that notch in the front, add USB C. Lastly, add Headphone Jack! Then Ill upgrade from my 8plus

I've gotten so used to camera bumps that the cameras on LG G8 look weird.

SMH... What things have come to.

I never stated iOS has never copied from Android, so stop making things up you think I might have said.

And apparently you DO care, based on all your posts regarding copying and even telling people they should avoid making such posts.

People said the iPhone copied the LG Prada simply because the Prada came out earlier. Except that it was proven in the Samsung/Apple court case that final designs for the iPhone were done LONG BEFORE the Prada was ever announced.

Companies like to take advantage of the fact that Apple doesn't release details about products until they are ready for release. So if the 2019 iPhone has a square camera bump you can be assured that it was decided on a long time ago. But people will still try and claim Apple copied Google, as if Apple only decides on the final design for the iPhone in the last 2 months before full scale production.

There's no reason for Google to "confirm" their square camera bump. It's irrelevant without specific information on what cameras/sensors are going inside that square. Google is just playing games because they know their fans will lap it up and use this "press release" to imply Apple copied Google.

A) I never said you said that but then why call out Google for copying Apple at all then if they also copy Android? If they both copy each other its a moot point.

B) My posts are for people to stop complaining about "copying" because they are annoying and add no value and again they copy each other so what's the point at pointing it out all the time?

C) Ya that's it. Google/Android is almost always the one accused of copying Apple not vice versa obviously especially in this forum and the timing of the square design leaks. Again neither of these companies were first to market on this camera design at least the company that was is one that uses Android as there platform. Google may have even worked with them but who knows at this point and more importantly who cares as long this drives better products with better performance no matter what platform and brand you choose to own.

I just people could be unbiased like for example Apple cameras currently kill the Pixel in video while the Pixel is better at photo's. Apple devices have more efficient operating systems and tend to have longer life spans. Google lets you customize more etc. Things that can actually help people with deciding what's better for them based on there usage than pointing fingers on who's copying who.

Why not add the stone tablet and the chisel while you're at it?

The point is that the headphone jack is STILL in use. They still build wired headphones. They still release movies on Blu-Ray (even if Apple said No eight years ago). We still heavily use USB-A, HDMI, SD, Ethernet, etc.

This is an observation of what is HAPPENING in the PRESENT.

Your observation is in concert with Apple, which is supposedly what they expect to happen in the FUTURE. The truth is actually that it's cheaper for them to charge the same for a product that doesn't have these things, because people like you will pay it under the lie of "pushing the industry forward". Apple is in the business of making MONEY. Period.

And that's the point I'm making. I HAVE adapted. I use something else. And many of Apple's competitors are happy to oblige. But that doesn't mean I have to say the Emperor's clothes are nice when everyone else is. He is BUCK NEKKID.

All joking aside judging from their 1 lens offering, I am expecting Google's phone to have spectacular picture quality

Yep, Apple needs to be afraid VERY AFRAID!!! They haven't closed the software and machine learning gap quite yet.

However, if IOS 13 is an indicator, they're closer than they were.

Good
You adapted.
Complaining about the "emperor's clothes will get you nowhere on MR.
What you need is a new tailor.
I didn't switch over to Bluetooth because of Apple, I stopped using wired headphones in 2006, Motorola and Plantronics.

The jack ain't coming back jack.:p
