Competition is good for the consumer.

That’s all I have to say positively about this design.

I totally agree, competition is not only good for the consumer, but essential.

I just wish someone had the “courage” to make a phone a couple of mm thicker and be done with ugly, impractical camera bumps. Maybe then everyone else would “be inspired” by that design.

I really don’t care who copies whom as long as they copy the good parts. It gives us consumers more choices.

Yeh, I don't understand the controversy and outrage. Fanbois in both camps complain that the specs, features, and UI in the other's brand aren't as good as theirs. When the other camp concedes and copies it, they're criticized for not being original, instead of given credit for endorsing better practices. When Apple and Microsoft were polar opposites during the PC era, fanbois on both sides often implored the other to follow their example. I don't understand today's fanbois. You'd think their Life's prospects depended on their favorite toy's popularity.

OK, your majesty. We won't talk about Google copying the square camera bump from Apple.

Shall we talk about all the things in Android Q that Google lifted from iOS instead?

Personally I'd like to discuss the things that each SHOULD copy from the other, as well as those we wish they DIDN'T.

We're talking about functionality here. If it's good, I wish EVERYONE would copy like crazy.

Why compare to samsung.. Android is a blatant copy of ios .. thanks to Eric Mole ‘Schidth’ ........Monkey see monkey Do..

I used to believe that back in '07 when they were both originally released. I raged against the machine the same way, because I loved the taste of Apple Kool Aid (I still do, by the way, which is why I'm here).

Then I grew up and figured out it doesn't matter unless you're the CEO or major stockholder of either Apple or Google.

We now know that the rumor about pixel 4 not having any buttons is clearly false as the picture obviously shows a side button.

Google is the new Samsung, copy copy copy, and even worse, copying rumors.
It's crazy how they copied a phone from over a year ago from another Android phone

Those camera lenses look way too big.
Bigger lens means better camera

Not according to sales. Not enough people care and wireless is better for most applications, particularly in mobile.

Google/Apple have the data and the decision speaks loudly. You guys hanging on to the past are flat out wrong.

How could people express otherwise if everyone stops offering the jack? And what data are you referring to? This is like saying people who use USB-A ports are holding on to the past because Apple decided to use USB-C only on their laptops.

I understand wireless is better...sometimes. Wired is objectively more reliable. That's why wanting both is not wrong; we can use the device tailored to the situation and the infrastructure CURRENTLY available.

And the loss of one feature in comparison with the sum of the rest is subjective when it comes to making a decision with regards to buying a particular device. For me, I chose Samsung BECAUSE they have a headphone jack as it is a deal-breaker in my book. iOS lovers will put up with ANYTHING (no ports, no buttons, intrusive-as-hell-notches, camera bumps, etc) as long as iMessage exists. :p

Now all that said, I agree that those "hanging on to the past" are futilely raging against the machine. But not because they're wrong, but because there is NOTHING they can do about it. The "bad guys" won, so we that care about such things just have to suck it up...
