Still using an iPhone 3GS here. I have no problem going to work and communicating with employers/contractors whatever. I can't believe you people. I was tempted to finally upgrade but decided it was not worth it.

All of this is a big hole in your paycheck.

If you're on a carrier that subsidizes phone cost in exchange for two year commitment and provides the third latest phone for free/$1 (plus upgrade fee), then you missed out on getting a couple phones for practically nothing.
Sounds penny wise and pound foolish to me.

Take a look at the new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact then, great premium specs in a small compact body that is smaller than the iPhone 6, but thicker obviously.

Thanks. But I'm more of a purest type...pure android or nothing.wish nexus 5 would get a spec bump internally.

So why do competitors try to upstage Apple by releasing their wares a day before Apple? Upstaging Apple is impossible, and this ensures their announcement will be forgotten tomorrow. Why not wait until a month or more after the relevant Apple event once the hype has faded?

Anything to get 15 minutes of fame, which is about all they'll get. Apple will get weeks and months worth of fame as the blogs and site discuss Apple's products and not much will be discussed about Nexus except the Nexus Android fans trying to intercept Apple discussions with their childish, immature comments.

:)

I have an iphone 6 plus and the bezels are massive. Since the nexus 6 has no physical front screen buttons the bezels are so small and should be just around the same size as the 6 plus, but with more screen and less blank space.

Yeah, looks like the Nexus 6 is ~1mm wider and ~6mm wider with a much larger display.... Not bad.

I love my iPhone 6+ and would welcome a bigger screen if Apple would shrink the d*mn bezels.

I had bought the iPhone 6 but returned it 3 days later. I found nothing new in it. Besides the beautiful design and a nice screen.

I was using an iPhone 4 and jumped to the iPhone 6 and I love it. It's the absolute perfect size, plus it weights less than my iPhone 4. For me, it was a major improvement in all aspects, plus i can read the screen since the print is big enough. For me, the iPhone 6+ was just simply too big and the 5S is too small.

I have faith that is not the case for the guy!! For me not upgrading or selectively upgrading has saved me money. A high end subsidized smart phone will cost me 50$ more per month, about 1200$ over 2 years.

I think the foolish people are the ones who think phones are free!! I don't know what the situation is in the States, but I would think are some good deals from smaller providers.

lol you people are something else...

you've got an excuse for EVERY apple drawback don't you?

the htc boomsound speakers put any mobile device's speakers to shame... but of course they are useless until an apple product comes along with something similar...

"i want mono-speakers because stereo-speakers are rude". yeah...

The iPad Air had stereo speakers. As does the mini

not the same device...one is worth the money and one isn't....im teaching you common sense here.

Yeah we all know the Nexus is the one worth the money:)

I don't know what you are on but Nexi devices are amazing.

That Nexus 6 already makes the 6+ seem a generation old, and mine hasn't even shipped yet.

The display sounds incredible on paper, and OLED usually delivers.

f/2.0 13MP camera with OIS? Again, it sounds good on paper. Not too many MPs, a large aperture, and OIS; if they nailed the execution then it will slay the iPhone's camera.

Curved back with thin edges will feel great in the hand.

2.7 GHz Quad-Core 64-bit CPU? In a POCKET? Damn that is hardcore.

If Android finally delivers a stable and responsive OS in Lollipop, Apple are in deep sh t.

If this article is any indication I seriously doubt Apple has anything to worry about: http://appleinsider.com/articles/14...er-poor-graphics-performance-vs-iphone-6-plus.

It the same story every new release of an Android phone, great specs on paper but ultimately falls apart in real world usage. Apple seems to be able to do more with less specs. Somehow every Android phone manufacturer has never figured out to accomplish that, not even Google.

And now Google is trying to complete in the same price bracket with the Apple iPhone. Once it was the Google price advantage but now that is no longer the case. It certainly isn't the screen size advantage any longer either. The only Android phone manufacturer that made money was Samsung, not anymore. If anything, Google and the other Android manufacturers are the ones in deep *****. Apple has sold 30 million iPhones in the last couple of weeks, hardly a deep ***** situation.

OH YEAH!!! We should totally take " APPLE INSIDER" seriously on Android devices. Give it up..

N6 Phone - meh, too expensive for a Google phone... and 6+ is superior.
N6 Tablet - meh, another copy of Mini. I will get Mini 3 instead which is a better tablet.
NMP - meh, I will stick with my AppleTV.

but there not apple products.

nexus 5 sold well at 400$ ....dont think doubling it is going to cause them to sell at the same rate.

foolish business move.
True. I was going to get one to play and try a few things and use it occasionally with prepaid cards when I cross the border. It looks too expensive to justify. I will get Nexus 5 if it comes on sale.

Any chances of 5 being available at a discount?

The older nexus was intented to push stock android to lower price point. Google did not make any money on those phone. I think Google is actually positioning this along with other flagship with stock android on higher position while Android one is lower end tire.

The Nexus line was (and still is to a point) supposed to be the "standard" Android phones. More a toy for developers than high selling mass market items. They were mean to be solid, no frills devices.

But for some reason, I guess starting with the first Nexus 7, they became fairly popular. And now here we are.

I'll just leave this here.

Lollipop also supports multiple user accounts, a popular feature iOS users have hoped that Apple would implement.

ok, show of hands? I guess I'm ignorant as to why one would want to be able to have multiple user accounts on their Apple mobile devices. Ok, well maybe the iPads. Could somebody enlighten me as to why this would be a wanted feature?

A friend of mine used to say, horsepower on the American Cars is different than the German Cars.... This is something similar, more memory, better (?) cpu, higher resolution but it just does not compare well.

I believe the performance test was done by Verge.

To the point, every Android phones that will come out from now on will try to beat 6/6+ spec by spec. It's nothing new anyway, they over-spec'ing their devices are only good for bragging on the paper. Apple always beat them in every level of actual use performances. I don't blame their hardware though - individually, and I think as OS, Android is good too. But they just lack of Apple synergy between software engineering and hardware engineering.

I seriously don't understand why EVERY tablet does not come with front-facing speakers. Extra points to the tablets that do.

It's so ridiculous to have to cup my hand under my (fill in the blank) tablet to get the sound coming toward me instead of the floor or table or other people.

You actually utilize the tiny speakers that come with these devices??? I always use either wired headphones or a Bluetooth amplified portable speaker

I think it's a bit sad to see how brands can manipulate our judgment.
I went through this thread thinking that there would be some interesting comments and comparaison between the iphone and the nexus. But most people here are saying that it's too big, or too expensive (and then you can read they own 3 ipads, 2 mbp retina, a 128gb 6+, and a thunderbolt display..ahah)

About the price, there is clearly a change in Google's strategy. There are now some chinese companies selling decent android phones for a cheaper price, google might think that they shouldn't compete with them. The price is still lower than apple's product, and it becomes significantly lower if you buy a micro sd to expand the storage and then compare the overall price with the 128gb iphone 6+.

About the size, I dont really like big phones. But what should really matter is not the size of the screen, but the size of the bezels. the new nexus and the 6+ have almost the same size. To me, both are uncomfortable to hold. But for someone who likes the 6+, i dont think the nexus would be "too big".

The new android has some interesting features, especially the ones regarding battery life. I really thought apple would have done more about battery life (especially after their big push on battery life for macbooks), but they're staying quiet about it.

Don't get me wrong, I love apple devices. But I think we should just take what is best for our needs. My first smartphone was a blackberry. Then I had an iphone 4 that i loved. My company gave me a new blackberry and I had two phones, one for typing and the other one for everything else. I switched to the iphone 5s that was great too, especially with a 4G plan. And now I have a sony Xperia Z3 cause I thought that the design of sony was much better than the one proposed by apple last month, connection with the ps4 will be interesting too.

Looking forward to watching the keynote tonight. It's been way too long apple hasnt surprised us.. (actually not, I really loved the new Mac Pro design!)
