look familiar?

In the first image I see the round rectangle design that Apple made famous, chamfered edges that are squared off like the iPhone 5/5S, no true-tone flash, a centered camera, a curved back like the iPod Nano, a minimal linear antenna band, and the bead-blasted unibody aluminum finish that is Apple's signature style.

In the second image I see the iPad design shrunken down, a minimal antenna band loop, no obnoxious Beats logo, and a slightly obnoxious protruding camera.

So yeah, now that you mention it, the HTC One does look familiar to a lot of phones I've seen in the past, and the iPhone 6 looks a lot like the iPad. Thanks for pointing that out, though I fail to see how that is in any way relevant to the discussion in this thread.

I have to say Google was smart going with HTC to help make a Nexus 9 and the Moto phone style always looked good too. Both are great looking with top of the line specs. If I ever went android it would be a Nexus for sure. Still I'll keep my iPhone 6+ :) but I am on a apple site ;). Only thing I don't get is the super high res screen I have 6+ and can't see any pixels, not sure there is a point to anymore.

I may be wrong, but I think OLED screens typically use an RGBG pixel layout that results in an inflated ppi spec. Not sure if it's all of them or not, or if this Nexus 6 uses such a display.

It will be interesting to compare this Nexus 6 display to that of my 6+ if it ever gets here...

Still using an iPhone 3GS here. I have no problem going to work and communicating with employers/contractors whatever. I can't believe you people. I was tempted to finally upgrade but decided it was not worth it.

All of this is a big hole in your paycheck.

except that when the htc one came out, no one thought that it looked like the iphone 5 / 5s; or the ipod nano.

it was quite obvious, however, the resemblance of the new iphone with the htc one, though.

following your line of thought, the htc one looks like an iphone because its a rectangle...

What point did you make? I made a joke.

You used sarcasm (your own words) which was your answer to why you aren't really defensive at all. I pointed out that they are not really related, that is you don't prove that your not defensive by saying that you used sarcasm, that's all. And in fact, of two statements which do you think come across as more defensive. A calm and collected one or a sarcastic one. I said please.. because I often find you quite defensive as well.

About 2mm thicker, 5mm wider and 1mm taller than iPhone 6 Plus, so not much bigger for a 0.5" larger screen.

These products looks nice but not for me.

I played with android having got the last iteration of the nexus 7 HD over a year ago, gorgeous screen, nice features. Main issue was software and a royal PIA to sync with my mac, iPhone,iPad,MBP, iMac -
it lies unused for the past 4 months! went back to my iPad

The only true advantage Apple has is with iPad's because of all the tablet optimized apps in the Apple store. But with big phones like the Nexus 6 with unlockable bootloader the software tweaks and possibilities are endless. There are some custom roms on the Nexus 7 that allow 2 apps at once. Should be no problem for Nexus 6 to pull have the same feat making it a much more flexible option.

Yeah I had fun tweaking my Nexus 7 for a few months, but the low battery and crashes got old when all I wanted to do was read a book or surf the net. Now it's back to stock Android so it only crashes once or twice a day :D

Maybe Lollipop will finally nail it? I can't wait to get either an Air 2 or a Mini 3 so I don't have to worry about it.

Something nobody's pointed out, from the Nexus page...

"Battery must be substantially depleted; charging rate slows as charging progresses."

I read this as it only charges fast if dead. If you're an average user who goes through the day and is sitting at 50%, don't expect any faster charging.

If the battery is 24 hours, this means the average user will see no benefit from this feature if charged nightly.

The precise time that I need a fast charge is when ive forgotten to charge my phone, im about to leave the house and ive got almost no battery left.

Thats the only time I need a charge.

Whatever you say. I think most understood my post.

I don't think the Nexus 6 is overpriced it just the expectations were for google to continue their subsidy. For me any phone priced north of 650$ will cost me a lot of money. Not because I can't afford it but because cell service providers in Canada are nuts.

If I wanted an iPhone , Note 4 or nexus 6, I will have to change plans or buy it outright. With the nexus 5 I was able to keep my plan and get the phone for free. If I want a iPhone 6(any high end phone) subsidized I would have to pay 270$ upfront and and an extra 50$ a month for 2 years. Getting the nexus 5 for free and not having to 50$ a month more was nice, I'm sad that this will not be possible in the future.

So why do competitors try to upstage Apple by releasing their wares a day before Apple? Upstaging Apple is impossible, and this ensures their announcement will be forgotten tomorrow. Why not wait until a month or more after the relevant Apple event once the hype has faded?

Google announced their flagship smartphone AFTER Apple announced their new iPhone 6 and 6+. How is this "upstaging" Apple in any way?
