Google Launches Native YouTube App for iPhone

I thought Apple fans hated Google with a passion, why is everyone wanting this on their phone and not accepting Apple's way?

YouTube is the one good thing that Google does. ;)
 
This is so far worse in several departments than the old youtube app.
First it doesn´t have proper iPad support, then it doesn´t have as good Airplay support, in return it is meant to have more videos but that´s because it has ads now whereas the old one didn´t show any ads.
First time i´ll update all my iOS devices to the latest current iOS version today before the launch of the next iPhone and probably the next iOS version cause for the first time i´m actually worried some apps i use regularly like youtube and maps will be worse with the release of the new iOS version.
I´ll only update one of my iPhones and iPads to the next iOS version then and wait with the others until the "new" youtube and maps apps at least have all core features the old apps had. Last time i saw screenshots of the new maps app it still didn´t even have map data for most places around the world.
 
Great app! The YouTube app was one of the clear advantages the Nexus 7 had over the iPad, in my own opinion of course.

  • I can now leave the orientation lock on for the phone in general (web page reading, news apps and Kindle app when reading in bed) and just maximise video to have YouTube videos play in landscape
  • I can leave myself logged in for playlists, favourites and commenting without having to log in and out from the mobile page in Safari (don't want to be tracked all the time by G.)
  • Has the same look and feel as the G+ app, which I like and use heavily.

Looking forward on iPad support coming forth but as a first pass, I'm impressed with Google's efforts

I Guess most religious people in this modern time stopped thinking when mommy took them to church and daddy bought a new dvd of the mickey mouse club.

It's also very funny that not a single app shows ads in their image previews. I think gmail users should be entitled to have them disabled since Google pretty much scans ever bit of a byte of our mails to get every possible or impossible penny out of it...

Same features. No full screen mode that takes up the whole screen via double tap? Google's You tube app when is full screen isn't really 'full screen'.

When I turn my phone on it's side, Google's YouTube app takes up the full screen....

Just tried to AirPlay, I have an iPhone 4 and apparently my device 'can only play sound over AirPlay'. I've been able to play video and audio from the built in YouTube app forever, so what gives?

I just found out it takes a few hours after an app is released for it to be indexed in the search results. Still hate the way search results are shown in iOS6 though.
 
What annoys me is that companies work on these apps for months and then put them out, I pick it up and use it for 5 minutes and find heaps of obvious bugs. Swiping to the hidden menu under the left of the screen anywhere on the screen is inconsistent and sometimes hard to do, selecting the 'share' option while in full screen mode pulls you out of full screen mode, sharing to Facebook doesn't seem to do anything. Also I'm annoyed that links aren't clickable in the video descriptions.
