I downloaded it on my computer at work, then just opened the "Purchased" section under the updates tab and downloaded it from the cloud.

The UI is awesome but this app has limitations. First off, there's ads on some of the videos and on iOS you can't block those like you can on Android. Second, you can no longer play audio from videos in the background, which is a major loss for me.

Yes. Google contact apple to work this out!

It talks about the ads in the MR article. Ads show up only for videos when the User who uploaded the video sets it up for monetization

They don't need to, Google could easily use iOS's API for playing audio in the background, they just didn't bother. I hope it comes in an update.

I know, but I friggin' hate ads and I prefer to block 'em.

Very nice, indeed! I was skeptical at first but am now extremely happy that development is in the hands of Google. And we can share directly via SMS now!

I just wish they would allow you to share with more apps like android.

No, this is more like Google+, I wonder if Kevin Rose designed this app.

Android version is similar to their mobile web site that you can access via Safari.

Considering Kevin Rose works for Google Ventures, I highly doubt it. And the UI is almost exactly like the UI of the Android version of Youtube. Google has probably had this app on the burner for quite a while waiting for iOS 6 to come.

Apple's maps are in beta, intended for testing by developers. Wait until they release the public version in the next week or two. Then make the comparison. I'd say their beta version is enough to make Google very nervous. The same mentality that causes people to buy Android phones when the phone store morons recommend them is what will make people not download Google Maps on their iPhones, thus costing Google millions.

Even in this world of technology, you still can't trust the sales person.

Always do your own research, just test out the phones that interest you regardless of what the rep says. They are just pushing whatever gives them the biggest commision.

My primary email address is Gmail. I'd been using the Mail app for 3+ years. It basically hasn't changed much at all.

Then I switched to Sparrow and thought it was great. Then they got bought out!

Finally I just went with the Gmail app. I'd tried it before when it was rubbish, but recently I think it is significantly better. It replicated the web experience of Gmail very well, and push notifications are instant.

As for Chrome, I actually hate it on the web. But the recent iOS Chrome is superb, I was converted within 2 days of usage.

It just lets you do things quicker and with more finesse than Safari. It basically treats you like a grown up.

Apple's treatment of Safari is just bizarre. Never ever used it on my Mac, but since upgrading to Mountain Lion, they have finally made Safari much better now. But on iOS, it's still so limited and clunky.

Use Chrome on iPhone or iPad for a few days, and you'll see what I mean!

To each his own, I suppose. But the argument that gmail on the iphone is good because it replicates the gmail for web experience kind of diminishes your credibility, IMO. I have never used a worse webmail interface than Gmail. And I've been using it for years. In fact, I've had my own domain redirected to it for years. I love how well Gmail does in keeping spam under control, but their web interfaces is clunky, unintuitive, and just plain ugly.

I was missing the app in iOs 6 beta 4, I'm gonna need an iPad version back a.s.a.p.

AppStore sucks on IOS6. Search for youtube and sift through 50 pages without finding it.

Had to find another app by google, click view more apps by google, sift through all those but not there, then click the link that says see all apps by google. Sift through those and finally find it.

Sucks you can't find an app even when you search for it by name.

Ads, I'm SOOOOO excited...

Do I wait with breathless anticipation for the paid version with no ads, or do I just have to suffer this crap? I have not one application on my iPhone that has ads in it. If I find one that does, I delete it. Yes, ads = deal breaker. For the record, I never had a problem watching a video on the iOS YouTube client because of lack of ad support. Now if I want to do it on an iOS device I have to watch ads. BU1!$H!T. I guess I only watch YouTube videos on my mac now, where I have AdBlock and Do Not Track Plus running.

I'd be happy to pay for an ad free subscription, but it appears Google doesn't believe I want my material ad free. With this being a free app I can't even cast an economic vote showing how much I HATE ads (see NO, I DON'T OWN A T.V. because of ads).

So, good news about a YouTube app for iTunes. It'll be great news when I have an ad free option (either for my account or through purchase of an app).

I dunno. YouTube is getting old news to me.

Besides, the app is from google so it probably spies on people big time

This is SO much more awesome than the crappy integrated app! Finally we can watch videos and view comments at the same time, it's a lot faster too.

You know what this means? This means there will be a dedicated Google maps app as well.

Anyways, the YouTube app is really great it's much better than the one Apple had built-in for very long time.

People not downloading Google Maps will not cost Google millions. They have lost the money already as Apple wont be paying the maps licensing fee anymore. By offering Google Maps themselves they are actually absorbing the cost given that there are zero ads in it.
