I don't know what you're talking about....:p

What is the reason for keeping secure http out of links? I have heard it is un-kosher, but never knew why.
You are already a registered user so using https invokes the cookie you have. An unregistered user gets unhelpful messages when using it. If you are pimping for Google, you want to at least use the link a newbie can see what it's about. :)

BTW, how is it?

Being a rather geeky beta, the error messages are HILARIOUS. I enjoy the Scotty warning to Kirk.

It has a TON of potential. You can see how Chrome OS is going to function in essence. Being able to write web apps that run inside of environments such as Wave. Tying it into a push notification service will be fun. It still has a ton of work UI wise, but the community is pretty helpful.

Nexus one? iPhone? hmmm

Sure, a 1ghz processor is faster than the iPhone.
Sure, a 5mp camera with flash is better.
Sure, a better and brighter screen.
Sure, etc etc etc. (place specs here)

The point is, the iPhone is an experience, very much so like the Mac (OS X) Which is why OS X developers actually lagged on releasing updated versions of OS X so they could custom-fit the iPhone OS.

Mac's in the past and today were always about the user-experience. Whether on a PPC that was slower than any PC at the time, the experience was WELL WORTH IT. Apple didn't tell you that you HAVE to buy the iPhone. I'm glad there is Android and Windows Mobile, and I keep hoping for more and more mobile smartphones to pop up with new and innovative ideas.

The iPhone is an excellent phone, the app store and iTunes definitely places it on top and really if they allowed the Google Voice app, then I pretty much can't see any advantage to Android. :)
:)

True That

There is no need for sarcasm. He wasn't saying the iPhone sucks. He is just mentioning some points he believes are disadvantages, and many people will agree and others will disagree with him.

It's good that you are happy with the iTunes integration on your iPhone. As a Linux user, I cannot use iTunes, and as a Windows user, I absolutely hate iTunes. Other platforms offer more integration for me, and that's why other platforms are better for me.

Yeah I never looked at it that way, I wasn't trying to be a jerk. Just a Fanboy LOL!

Gotcha

No mate that was my last 10 years with apple products. In that time I have also had products from other companies that have had thier share of issues. The fact is modern electronics are not really made to last these days, if companies made components rock solid it would cost them more and it would take much longer to make the next sale. Classic example was talking to my Granddad who was bitching about his new fridge dying after 12 months while his last one lasted 15 years.

Good Point Bro Nobody make em Like they used to.

Since apple is locked to crappy AT&T, looks like my next phone will be this one. Definately going to give the iPhone a run for the money. Guess apple shouldn't have had google on there board as it looks kind of similar to the iPhone.

My thoughts exactly. Unless Apple either switches carriers, or opens the iPhone to work with ALL carriers, I will probably be switching to a new phone when my contract is up. AT&T has really had terrible service for me.

Haha new rant! My Craftsman tools are all made in China now. I've busted so many, while my dad's show little signs of wear. Limited warranties now offered?

I remember the good old days of drop kicking you StarTac into a puddle without major issue. You think the Teflon coating on this Google Phone will hold up to metal cookware as well as wooden?

funny how there is nothing groundbreaking about the droid. yet if the next iteration of iphone comes in two flavors(qwerty & full touch) and includes

-removable battery
-customizable homescreen
-multitasking
-led notifications

people here would go "wow!" apple has revolutionized the cell phone yet again

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-us; Archos5 Build/Donut) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)

Android finally coming to AT&T. Would be nice for those interested if the nexus was offered on AT&T frequencies.

They've also got a webOS device on the way. Looks like that iPhone exclusive is about to end.

I don't understand why they'd even want such failures on their network.

Both Android and palm devices are inferior to the almighty iPhone. /s ;)

hahaha so true.
I tell you, fanboism defines all laws of common sense and human self consciousness. What you wrote is so stupid YET so true when it comes to apple products and a big part of their fan base that it's not even funny.

Again, in case you're an analphabetic

GREAT WORD! I had to look that one up. Thanks for increasing my vocabulary! Seriously. ;-)

There's a lot of posts in this thread that are pure FUD. Wouldn't expect any different though, and I'm past caring. Everyone has their iPhones and loves them I'm sure, wonderful. Doesn't mean something else can't be as good, or suit people better. You'd think people were defending their kids (iPhones) from the school bully (Google) the way some of you carry on.

Anyway, enjoy whatever it is that you happen to enjoy using and getting the most out of.

Probably the most mature and reasonable post on the thread.

And Androidusers do not forget. You all pay that Openess with all your user data beeing owned by Google. Dnagerous i think.

I really enjoy the iPhone, but am always a sucker for the latest and the greatest, or even something "different". But you echo something I posted early on in the thread, which is I have real concern over the the ever growing tendrils of privacy invasion Google is wrapping around us. I would probably jump on test driving this Nexus One phone at the very least EXCEPT for the fact that it is so tied into Google. I think anyone who doesn't believe that this phone, and the holy grail of Google Voice that is hailed as the best reason to get this, gives Google that last bit of knowing everything about you that you haven't already surrendered by using their search, email, chat, docs, calendar, etc, etc.. Now they'll know everyone you call, how long you talk to them, and probably even what apps you run and how often. I guess the open source of the OS prevents any outright spyware like activity, but it's all really kind of creepy if you think about it.

I'd like to think that, but AT&T knows that they can't lose the exclusive agreement for the iPhone. Their record growth over the past 3 years has been because of the iPhone.

I'm not saying a CDMA iPhone (Verizon and Sprint) is not going to happen, but I think that AT&T is going to make Apple an offer that they can't refuse. I guess we should find out by summer exactly what is going to happen.

I think it is giong to go to the other networks

ATT has announced a slew of droid phones going to its network. This tells me that the Apple ATT relationship is ending and ATT is preping to have other phones in its line up to replace the control over the iPhone.

i think att is slated to get the bottom of the barrel android phones. the budget ones that come free from what i have read on phonedog.

It looks to me more like they are trying to beef up their offering under the iPhone, not replace it. These will replace the mid-tier feature phones that slot between simple flip phones and the BlackBerries and iPhones.

If AT&T do lose their exclusive on the iPhone it doesn't mean they will automatically lose the iPhone. Where the exclusive deals have ended in Europe the original sellers are all still offering the iPhone.

As pointed out before apple's past updates to the iPhone and its os have been minor or what should of been day 1 things so none of them really have been impressive. I know the truth hurt but really apple has done very little on there updates.
I expect in the next round of updates multi tasking will be added and it will be yet another day 1 update.

What you seem not to realize, is that Apple has already developed far more features than they're willing to release at any given time, updates which are contingent on market conditions, and what competing products have to offer.

These's no need to throw out all of your cards onto the table, at once, when you can use your aces to maintain an edge over the competition.

Multi-tasking is hardly an issue, as apps open quickly enough to render it unnecessary. The iPhone does multitask with apps which need it most: Voice Memos, E-mail, Safari, Messages, iPod Music Player, and hopefully, soon, 3rd party radio apps.

After seeing the information pop up on Macrumors about Qualcomm supplying Apple a EV-DO chip and AT&T jumping in with Android I think it looks more and more possible that Apple is going to offer an iPhone to Verizon. Who knows if they are doing one for Verizon they might as well do one for Sprint.

No they wouldn't that is just ridiculous. Sometimes it seems like Apple can do no wrong though
