After everything that's leaked, is there even a need for the Google event at this point 😬

I'm hoping I can trade in my S24 Ultra and get a good ish trade in value.

There might be a funny ad? I quite liked the one at I/O where she kept calling the garbage truck a convertible.

Pixel hardware always leaks. Not much is going to surprise us next week on that front.

Software might still have a few surprises. I am hoping for some demos of whatever new AI stuff is added this year. I keep hearing the phrase Magic Cue being thrown around. I/O showed a lot of Project Astra/Mariner (I honestly don't remember which is which) that is in development, but what do we actually get this year?

I will still watch the event, I like watching tech events even if I don't buy anything. I did it with Samsungs S25 and Fold events, Google's Pixel event last year and Apple's events every year. There is usually some small surprise, even if it's usually software.

On the software front, there is something called "Pixel Sense" it's described as a more personal assistant. Aside from that I'm not sure what else software wise there will be. I think the software is about the only thing that hasn't leaked.

I've noticed that the Pixel Pro XL will be getting a 100x zoom, I wonder if it will be better than Samsungs, because at 100x on my S24 Ultra, it's not usable. I wonder if they have found a way to make it better.

Also I'm not sure that the pre-order bonuses have leaked yet.

I’m hoping Google is going to show some new multi-tasking capabilities on the Fold devices. Would love to see some of the options available on the Galaxy Folds and One Plus Open.

I would love to see a black & white camera mode - like on the Nothing phones. Google Photos has some good filters, but it’s better to see what you’re taking in black & white. I’m even tempted by the Nothing Phone 3, even though the cameras are not as good as the Pixel phones.

Just installed ios 26 beta, dont know why peole re so uoset about it, mild refresh it is… not enough apple, really hope for pixel 10 pro (xl?) to be my next phone and first android phone ever:)

Same here....I am more excited about the Pixel 10 than the iPhone 17 models.
Me too but that's not saying much, I'm not interested in Apple phones anymore.
But I'm pretty excited about the Pixels, not sure if I'll be swayed from purchasing a Fold 7 but we will see.

I find it somewhat amusing how Google made the Pixel's look more like iPhones and Apple decided to make the iPhone 17 Air (if that's how the rumors turn out) to look like a Pixel 9/10 🥳

And the MOST important rumor: Jonas brothers!

I couldn’t care less about the benchmarks as long as it’s at least as good as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I have not once thought that my P9PF felt slow or underpowered. I don’t do any significant gaming and that’s were the superpowered SD chips seem to excel.

Agreed, I don't do gaming either and my P8P and Pixel 9a do just fine and feel overpowered for the basics. I have not encountered any performance issues and there should not be any. The hardware powering these phones are an overkill. An individual would have to buy a $99-200 phone to perhaps encounter performance issues.

My P9PF is generally fast enough for anything asked, but it is insanely slow transferring files between a connected computer. Like 30 year old USB 1.0 speeds, when it's actually working and not crapping out. This is my first Android so not sure if it's just slow hardware or badly designed OS.

possibly due to ufs 3.1, the newer version is ufs 4, which is twice as fast.

Could be various reasons that transfer speeds are slow.

outdated usb drivers,? faulty usb port? are you using USB 2.0 or 3.0? Poor quality cable?

It could be a number of reasons but this is not normal behavior for any modern android phone.

Cables make a huge difference. I would buy a high speed data USB c to c cable and connect to your computer via thunderbolt connection or similar high speed connection. Using a decent cable made for data not power and using a high speed interface will ensure high speed connection. Also they more than one computer if possible.

If you are still having issues I would recommend getting in touch with Google for warranty service or similar service center under warranty.

I had a Pixel 8 Pro and 7 pro and neither had slow USB c transfer speeds so I would imagine the 9 pro would only be faster.

The Pixel 10 will have ufs 4.0 instead of ufs 3.1. This will also enhance transfer speeds. Even with ufs 3.1 you should still have fast transfer.

From AI summary, "
  • USB 3.2 Gen 2:
The Pixel 9 Pro supports USB 3.2 Gen 2, which provides a maximum data transfer rate of 10 Gbit/s (1.25 GB/s).

  • File Transfer Protocol:
The actual transfer speeds can be lower due to the overhead of the file transfer protocol (like MTP), which is used when transferring files between a computer and the phone. "
Those are pretty fast transfer speeds.

iPhone 16 pro transfer speeds from AI summary,

"iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max: Utilize USB 3 speeds (up to 10 Gbps) when using a compatible cable. "

Cable Requirements: To take full advantage of the 10 Gbps speed on the Pro models, ensure you're using a USB-C cable that supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 or higher.

Unless I am mistaken an iPhone 16 pro has 10 times the speed per second as the Pixel 9 Pro but that still shouldn't result in the speeds you are experiencing.

10 times the speed per second!

Iphone is faster yes but not by that much. It's twice as fast!

Thanks for the suggestions, something to experiment with this weekend. Not to derail this thread further, but this happens across a 2019 Mac Pro, M1 MBA, and a beefy Ryzen 3950 PC since the day I got it. On the two macs I once tried using Image Viewer to grab photos like I normally would for an iPhone, and it would take over 10 minutes before it would show anything to select (iPhones would show instantly). It was also terrible trying to copy my mp3 library with the phone connection always dropping out after 10-20 minutes necessitating lots of small batch copies instead. This is with different cables but I didn't try a Thunderbolt version yet. Those big copies are mostly done now that the photos and music are on there so don't think it's worth getting P10, but if there is something wrong I still have a few more months under warranty.
